HORRIBLE Vet!! I could not be more unhappy/dissatisfied with this veterinary clinic. We had our dogs under their care for over 20 years. Since they changed owners several years ago, this place has declined significantly. It is now just a money-machine where there is no true care for the animals. They do not know your animals and they show little regard for their health. It's awful. I have a multitude of examples of their lousy service/care, but most recently we had an episode where our 4 year old retriever was severely limping - and when we called Millwood Animal Hospital - we were told 'we're booked solid today' and were made to feel like we were completely putting them out that our dog needed to be seen. I told them I would just go to Katonah/Bedford as my dog could barely walk, and they suddenly decided we could bring in our dog. Upon arrival, they had no idea who we (or our dog) was - and upon being seen, we were told our dog's condition was likely symptoms of a tick borne disease - which they KNEW HE HAD from the blood test results from his recent check-up. UNREAL!! Shame on this place and the owners. Will NEVER allow them to see my dogs again. I am disappointed in myself for not acting sooner in finding a different vet - which has been a game changer. Fully verified for me how AWFUL the service and care for our animals was at Millwood Animal Hospital. The ONLY thing Millwood Animal Hospital did well was help us put down our old lab years ago. So, I guess they are good at killing dogs, just not caring for dogs.

Welcome to Millwood Animal Hospital
Millwood Animal Hospital, situated at 231 Saw Mill River Rd, Millwood, NY 10546, USA, operates within the crucial category of a "Pet Hospital." This designation signifies that the facility is intended to provide a range of medical services for animals, similar to a human hospital, albeit on a smaller scale. A pet hospital typically offers diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative care for various animal species, aiming to maintain or restore their health and well-being. For local pet owners in Millwood, NY, and the surrounding areas, this establishment serves as a potential resource for their pets' healthcare needs.
As a Pet Hospital, Millwood Animal Hospital is expected to offer a comprehensive suite of veterinary services. While detailed service lists are not explicitly provided in the given information, the general offerings of a facility in this category typically include routine wellness examinations, vaccinations, parasite control, dental care, general surgery, diagnostic imaging (such as X-rays), laboratory testing, and pain management. The presence of both positive and negative reviews suggests that while they aim to provide these services, the perception of their delivery can vary among clients. For inquiries about specific services or to schedule an appointment, the clinic can be reached at (914) 941-1801 or +1 914-941-1801.
The environment of Millwood Animal Hospital, as gleaned from customer feedback, presents a mixed picture. While one reviewer, who adopted a cat from the establishment, found everyone "so sweet and helpful," creating an accommodating and kind atmosphere, another deeply dissatisfied customer described the place as having "declined significantly" and being merely a "money-machine" with "no true care for the animals." This disparity in experience suggests that while some individuals perceive the environment as supportive and welcoming, others find it to be impersonal and lacking in genuine concern. A pet hospital, ideally, strives to create a clean, calm, and comforting environment for pets and their owners to minimize stress during what can often be anxious times. The physical location at 231 Saw Mill River Rd would offer local accessibility to residents of Millwood.
Regarding features, the clinic's change in ownership "several years ago" is a prominent point of contention for at least one long-term client. This change is cited as a reason for a perceived decline in service and a shift from true care to a more financially driven approach. This perspective highlights a potential challenge in maintaining consistent client relationships and a personalized approach, especially for long-standing clients who have a history with the previous ownership. Conversely, a positive feature noted by another client is the ability to adopt pets directly from the hospital, suggesting that Millwood Animal Hospital might be involved in pet rescue or adoption initiatives. This could indicate a commitment to animal welfare beyond just medical treatment, providing a pathway for animals to find loving homes. Additionally, the clinic's involvement in caring for "elderly cat, as well as my newest family members" indicates a capacity to handle pets across different life stages, from young animals to geriatric care.
However, a significant feature, or rather a perceived lack thereof, highlighted by the dissatisfied customer, is the inconsistent recognition of long-term clients and their pets. The anecdote about the limping retriever where the staff "had no idea who we (or our dog) was" after over 20 years of patronage, and their initial reluctance to schedule an urgent appointment, points to potential issues in client management and emergency response protocols. The failure to communicate known blood test results regarding a tick-borne disease also represents a critical breakdown in information management and proactive care, which is a severe concern for a "Pet Hospital" that should prioritize continuous and informed care. This specific feedback strongly implies a feature of disorganization or lack of personalized attention in critical moments, which contradicts the expected standard of care in a veterinary setting.
In terms of promotional information, the available reviews offer contrasting implicit messages. The positive review, highlighting sweet and helpful staff, accommodation, and the ability to adopt pets, serves as an organic form of promotion, encouraging friends and family to visit. This suggests that for some clients, the personal touch and care provided are strong enough to warrant positive word-of-mouth. The availability of phone numbers, (914) 941-1801 and +1 914-941-1801, for direct contact is standard promotional practice for any medical facility. However, the overwhelmingly negative review acts as a significant counter-promotion. The description of the clinic as "HORRIBLE," a "money-machine," and "AWFUL" service, coupled with specific examples of perceived neglect and poor communication, would strongly deter potential clients. The severe statement that "The ONLY thing Millwood Animal Hospital did well was help us put down our old lab years ago. So, I guess they are good at killing dogs, just not caring for dogs" is a particularly damaging piece of feedback that drastically undermines any positive promotional efforts.
Given the conflicting nature of the feedback, it is important for potential clients to consider their own priorities when choosing a veterinary care provider. While some may find the staff accommodating, particularly for cat care and adoption, others have experienced significant dissatisfaction with perceived declines in personalized care, emergency responsiveness, and communication, especially following the change in ownership. The "Pet Hospital" category implies a comprehensive and caring medical facility, and while some aspects align with this, the highly critical review raises serious questions about the consistency of service quality. Pet owners in Millwood are advised to conduct thorough research and potentially visit the facility or speak with staff to assess if it meets their specific needs and expectations for their beloved animals.

May 06, 2025 · Alan SanzenbacherI’ve been bringing my cats here for a few years now, and every time I arrive, everyone is so sweet and helpful with anything that I need. They help me to take care of my elderly cat, as well as my newest family members and are always so accommodating and kind. I adopted my sweet girl, Luna, from here and have recommended this establishment to many friends and family. Thank you so much for everything!
Apr 03, 2024 · Ashley RooneyFantastic first experience here recently. Why have I been going anywhere else! Logistics were quick and easy, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and my dog got a complimentary nail trim, to boot. Very pleased with this animal hospital and will return.
Dec 21, 2024 · Brendon TroyWe continue to be impressed and comforted by Dr. Goldman, Dr. Tubbs, and the entire staff at Millwood Animal Hospital! They are kind, compassionate, helpful, and understanding. We have never had a problem getting our dogs in on a moment’s notice when something happened, and they’re so caring and always follow up with us, too. The techs and front desk staff are all wonderful, too. We are pretty experienced dog owners and completely trust this vet with anything and everything!
