I went for an area crop for my doberman and got quoted $495, it’s cash only. Dr. Butchko comes in and examines your dog, then asks for a picture of a crop you like and that’s what he bases the cut off of. They perform the surgery one day and keep the dog overnight, once you pick up your pup they give you medicine for pain and tell you to return in 10-12 days to remove the stitches, medicine is included as well as a cone but you can purchase a donut cone for more active pups for an additional $20. Every 3-7 days after getting stitches removed you do have to repost but they provide free postings for 3 weeks after surgery, after that it’s $45 for each one. They also teach you how to post their ears by yourself. Overall the crop came out really nice and service is pretty good, it’s only like a 1-2 hour wait to get attended by Butchko himself.

Michael Butchko DVM Introduce
For pet owners in Riverside, California, seeking specific veterinary services, particularly Doberman ear cropping, or general pet care at competitive prices, Michael Butchko DVM stands as a noteworthy "Pet Hospital" option. Located at 5488 Mission Blvd, Riverside, CA 92509, this practice, under the guidance of Dr. Michael Butchko, continues a legacy of veterinary care in the community. Drawing from actual customer reviews, this introduction will provide an objective overview of the environment, services, features, and important promotional information associated with Michael Butchko DVM.
The environment at Michael Butchko DVM, as described by clients, appears to be characterized by efficiency and a focus on the direct veterinary consultation, though sometimes with a wait. One client noted a "1-2 hour wait to get attended by Butchko himself," suggesting a busy practice where direct consultation with the doctor is prioritized. The interior environment for surgical procedures, specifically ear cropping, seems organized, with clear instructions provided for post-operative care. However, recent customer feedback indicates a decline in the front office environment and customer service. One reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction, mentioning that "2 young gals walked past me numerous times and didn’t ask me if I have been helped or will be with you soon. Nothing." This suggests a breakdown in basic acknowledgment and courteous interaction from the reception staff, which can significantly impact the overall client experience, despite the quality of the veterinary care. The atmosphere, therefore, can be perceived as a mixed bag: efficient clinical operations contrasted with potential shortcomings in client-facing interactions at the front desk. It's important for potential clients to be aware of this distinction.
Michael Butchko DVM offers a range of veterinary services, with a notable specialization in Doberman ear cropping. This particular service is detailed, including a quoted price of "$495" (cash only), the process of consulting with Dr. Butchko to determine the desired crop style, overnight post-surgical care, and comprehensive post-operative instructions. This includes "medicine for pain," "stitches removal," and "free postings for 3 weeks after surgery," with subsequent postings available for "$45 each." They also take the time to "teach you how to post their ears by yourself," empowering owners in the recovery process. Beyond this niche service, the clinic also performs general veterinary procedures, as evidenced by a client mentioning their dog being "spayed." This indicates that they handle common surgical procedures. While a comprehensive list of all services is not provided in the reviews, it can be inferred that as a "Pet Hospital," they would offer standard veterinary care such as examinations, vaccinations, and basic diagnostics. The focus on affordability suggests they aim to provide essential care without "gouging" customers with extra fees, making their services accessible to a broader clientele.
Several features distinguish Michael Butchko DVM, particularly its specialization and pricing. A key feature is Dr. Michael Butchko's expertise and long-standing presence in the community, continuing a family legacy of veterinary care. His direct involvement in examining animals and discussing procedures, like ear cropping, is highlighted. The affordability of their services is a significant draw; clients repeatedly mention that "the prices are good and they do not gouge you with extra fees." This commitment to reasonable pricing is a major differentiating factor in the veterinary market. For the ear cropping service, the inclusive package of surgery, overnight stay, initial medication, stitch removal, and several free post-op postings adds significant value. Another feature is their readiness to accommodate walk-ins, as implied by the "1-2 hour wait" for attention. However, a crucial feature that has seen a recent decline, according to feedback, is customer service from the front office staff. While Dr. Butchko's clinical competence is praised, the "blatant disrespect" and lack of acknowledgment from the reception team are significant concerns. This indicates a divergence in service quality between the medical care and the client interaction experience. The "cash only" policy for certain procedures, like ear cropping, is also a notable operational feature that clients need to be aware of in advance.
Regarding promotional information, Michael Butchko DVM primarily promotes itself through its competitive pricing and specialized services. The explicit mention of the "$495" cash-only fee for Doberman ear cropping, with included aftercare and free initial postings, acts as a transparent and attractive package for those seeking this specific service. The recurring theme of "good prices" and not being "gouged" with extra fees serves as a continuous promotional message for their general veterinary care. This focus on affordability attracts clients looking for value in veterinary services. While traditional advertising may exist, the most impactful "promotion" comes from word-of-mouth regarding their pricing structure and Dr. Butchko's surgical outcomes, particularly for ear cropping. The fact that customers "would pay extra for customer service" elsewhere highlights that while their pricing is a strong draw, potential clients should weigh this against the noted concerns regarding front office interactions. Prospective clients are advised to call Michael Butchko DVM directly at (951) 686-2242 or +1 951-686-2242 to confirm services, pricing, and perhaps discuss their operating procedures, including the cash-only policy for certain treatments. The clinic's long-standing presence in the community also serves as an implicit form of promotion, signifying a history of providing veterinary care, even as new challenges arise in customer service delivery.
In conclusion, Michael Butchko DVM, located at 5488 Mission Blvd, Riverside, CA 92509, operates as a "Pet Hospital" known for its specialization in Doberman ear cropping and its commitment to affordable veterinary care. The environment is efficient for clinical interactions, though recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding front office customer service. Their services include specialized surgical procedures with comprehensive post-operative care, alongside general veterinary treatments. Key features are Dr. Butchko's expertise, the competitive and transparent pricing, and the value offered in inclusive packages for specific services. While affordability is a strong promotional point, potential clients should consider the reported challenges in customer service. For those prioritizing cost-effective care and specific surgical expertise, Michael Butchko DVM remains a notable option in the Riverside area.

Dec 23, 2024 · valeria osorioI have been going to Dr Butchko since when his dad was the main vet. They were always busy and the front office people used to be nice and Courteous. These last few visits have been the opposite. I had my dog spayed & when I went to pick her up I sat at the counter for 15 mins, 2 young gals walked past me numerous times and didn’t ask me if I have been helped or will be with you soon. Nothing. I finally interrupted the same girl who walked past me twice and started putting patient folders away. Yes the prices are good and they do not gouge you with extra fees but we are still paying customers. A little acknowledgment & respect would be nice. I think this is it for me. I don’t drive as far as I used to but this blatant disrespect is it. I’ll pay extra for customer service.
May 13, 2025 · Elizabeth EsparzaStop there to inquire about having my sweet little cat Peter cremated, walked in to a crowded waiting room with people waiting in line with their sweet pets, who they love, and the place looks like a bomb went off and smelled like a barnyard with one lady running around with a clipboard and nobody being helped, disgusting!!! By the way, the phone number isn't good either, some whack recording that isn't for pet service!!! Went to Jurupa valley animal hospital and the price was excellent the place smelled like a sanitized office, spotless! The girls at the front desk were outstanding, compassionate and so helpful!
May 14, 2025 · Philip GuintaBeen going here for over 20 years. Had Yorkers ears and tail cropped, had hip replacement for cat, leg removed for a cat, bladder stones removed for another Yorkie, anal gland expressions , vaccines and medicines… they are still the cheapest and the most knowledgeable… along as you’re okay with the wait… for us the price difference is always worth it
