Dr. McCoy and the staff are wonderful, caring and compassionate. Dr. McCoy is a very gifted Oral Surgeon. My Kitty Ralph developed a condition known as stomatitis. No one knows exactly what causes stomatitis, but it is suspected that it may be caused by a virus that leaves the cat with an immune system disorder that is devastating to the teeth and gums. The kitty gets over the virus but the virus leaves the kitty with a condition that causes gums to be red, swollen, bleeding. This is due to a reaction by the cats immune system to even the smallest amount of plaque on it's teeth. There's no cure. It's very, very painful. In severe cases like Ralph's the only treatment option is the removal of all of the teeth. My beautiful Ralph was so hungry but her mouth hurt so much she could not eat. She's only 3 years old. Her primary care doctor referred us to Dr. McCoy for help. It was a really stressful and frightening time for us. Dr. McCoy explained everything that was going on with Ralph thoroughly. He answered all of my questions with understanding and compassion. He's a very kind person and you can see how much he genuinely cares for his little patients. The staff members are kind and supportive, offering helpful advice in managing the cats care before and after surgery. I'm so grateful for the excellent medical care and treatment Ralph received at Lone Star Dentistry & Oral Surgery for Animals. Ralph just had her final post surgery follow-up visit last Thursday. I'm over- the-moon Happy to report that Ralph's oral surgery was 100 percent successful! She has no more mouth pain, needs no medication, and she eats anything she wants without any difficulty now that her gums are completely healed. That includes hard food and her favorite crunchy treats. I thank you, Dr. McCoy and your staff, for saving Ralph and restoring her quality of life! We are forever grateful.

Absolutely impressed by Lone Star team. We had our initial consult 7 months ago for our dog’s bite impacting the ware of teeth and the recommendation was some extractions. Dr. Kocsis and team were exemplary at examination and explaining everything. The notes provided were so detailed. When we came back for our appt later in the year, Dr. Kocsis picked right back where we left off in consultation because the notes were so detailed. They explained everything again before surgery and were so caring to our pup. These are photos 48 hours post op of 10 extractions (saving his canines) and our pup has little inflammation and enjoying light walks and sunbathing. We are grateful to have found an expert and incredible team. Thank you!

Be sure to ask how much the consultation is before scheduling. I wasn't informed during my first phone call or when I arrived for my dogs first visit - consult / semi exam. I don't remember seeing any pricing posted & I wasn't told about the $175.00 fee. And stupid me, made this mistake right before Christmas of 2024. We'll, let's just say, I definitely couldn't afford the $4,000+ bill for my dogs teeth. I left in tears and was desperate for a miracle - then someone told me about FIX UR PET IN SANTA FE. Sure its not the same style of care, but today my dog got 9 teeth extracted, the rest cleaned, his nail trimmed, bathed & well cared for by their team. He got pain meds & antibiotics all for about $500. So just know that there are other options if you cant afford this place. I'm not saying Lone Star isn't good, but you better be able to afford it .

I had such a GREAT experience with both the staff and the quality of surgery done on my pug Maxwell. LVT Cara was kind, helpful, and super informative while Dr Kocsis sat me down and explained exactly what was going on with my fur baby in terms I was able to understand. She is also some kind of psychic as she saw almost exactly what she expected to see during the surgery. It’s been 4 days and Maxwell is 95% back to his sassy self. I can’t recommend this place enough especially if you have a brachycephalic pupper.
