I've always had a normally good experience here at animal hospital. They've always treated me and my animals very well and I don't feel like they overcharge for their services. Now onto the biggest con and what will affect my future business with them: they don't tell you when you don't have any more refills on your animals prescription so out of the blue you'll have to take them in for bloodwork, exams and checks that can easily run over $300+. I won't give a lower rating because it does say on the bottle how many refills you have left but as someone who leads a very active life I normally only make it a point to verify I got the right medication and my dogs name on the bottle, I almost never check the other facts that are there and I feel like with something as important as medication for your animals (my dog has epilepsy and now I only have a week to pull 300+ out my ass) is something that should be reminded and monitored more closely than it is at this establishment. They did give me a grace period of medication for a week but unfortunately that just won't be enough. I'll be moving forward with the work that needs to be done for my babies to get their medication then me and my 4 animals will be seeking care elsewhere.

Welcome to Golden Valley Animal Hospital

For pet owners in Golden Valley, Minnesota, seeking a local "Pet Hospital," Golden Valley Animal Hospital is located at 651 Winnetka Ave N, Golden Valley, MN 55427, USA. They can be contacted at (763) 546-2323 or +1 763-546-2323. When considering this veterinary care provider for your animal's needs, it is important to take into account the mixed feedback received from recent customers, highlighting both positive aspects of their service and areas that may cause concern.

One reviewer with over ten years of experience with Golden Valley Animal Hospital expresses overwhelmingly positive feedback. They commend the entire operation, from the front desk staff to the veterinarians they have encountered. This long-term customer emphasizes that the hospital staff is "always respectful of our time," a crucial factor for busy pet owners. Furthermore, they appreciate the transparency regarding costs, noting that the hospital is "up front about all costs," allowing for informed decisions about their pet's care. The reviewer also highlights the kindness and caring nature of the doctors towards their patients, expressing gratitude for the way their dogs have been treated. This strong positive testimonial suggests a welcoming and professional environment where patient care and clear communication are prioritized.

In contrast, another reviewer, who had generally positive experiences in the past, raises a significant concern regarding the hospital's policy on prescription refills. They recount an instance where they were not proactively informed about the lack of refills for their dog's epilepsy medication. This oversight led to an unexpected requirement for bloodwork, exams, and checks, resulting in a potentially substantial cost of over $300. While acknowledging that the number of refills is typically noted on the medication bottle, this reviewer, leading an active life, admits to not always checking this detail, prioritizing instead the accuracy of the medication and their pet's name. They feel that for critical medications like those for epilepsy, a more proactive reminder system should be in place. Although the hospital provided a one-week grace period of medication, this was deemed insufficient. As a result of this issue, the reviewer states their intention to seek veterinary care elsewhere for their four animals after addressing the immediate medication needs.

Considering these two perspectives, the environment at Golden Valley Animal Hospital appears to be generally positive, characterized by respectful and caring staff who are upfront about costs. However, there may be an area for improvement in their communication regarding prescription refills, particularly for long-term medications requiring regular monitoring. While the physical environment of the clinic is not described in detail, the positive comments about the staff suggest a professional and courteous atmosphere.

The services offered likely include routine check-ups, diagnostics (such as bloodwork and exams), prescription medication dispensing, and management of chronic conditions like epilepsy. The positive reviewer's long-term relationship with the hospital implies a consistent provision of general veterinary care over time. The negative reviewer's experience highlights the availability of prescription medication and the requirement for periodic monitoring (bloodwork, exams) for certain conditions to authorize refills.

Features of Golden Valley Animal Hospital, based on the reviews, include a respectful and kind staff, transparency regarding costs, and a caring approach to animal patients. These are significant positives that contribute to a positive customer experience for many. However, a potential area for improvement is the proactive management and communication of prescription refills, especially for critical medications requiring ongoing monitoring.

There is no information provided in the reviews regarding any specific promotional offers, discounts for new clients, or wellness plans that Golden Valley Animal Hospital might have in place. Local users would need to contact the hospital directly to inquire about their pricing for various services and any potential cost-saving options available.

In conclusion, Golden Valley Animal Hospital in Golden Valley, MN, appears to be a veterinary care provider that is generally well-regarded for its respectful staff, transparent pricing, and caring doctors. Long-term clients have reported positive experiences over many years. However, potential clients should be aware of a reported issue regarding the lack of proactive communication about prescription refills, which could lead to unexpected costs and interruptions in medication. While the hospital seems to provide quality care and values its patients, it may be beneficial for pet owners, especially those with animals on long-term medication, to proactively track their refill status and communicate closely with the hospital regarding their medication needs. Overall, Golden Valley Animal Hospital offers a generally positive environment and caring service, but attention to detail in prescription management could enhance the client experience further.

IF ONLY every medically-related establishment would operate the way this one does -- from the front desk to each and every doctor we've had the pleasure of working with over the last 10 years with our dogs - they are always respectful of our time, up front about all costs, kind, and caring of their patients. Thank you for treating our pets the way we would love for all doctors to treat us!

We started coming in 2019 since they see guinea pigs. In 2021, our very elderly munchkin cat was showing sudden drastic signs of decline. Since COVID our current "cat vet" was very hard to get an appointment in, we decided to go to our "guinea pig vet". They were amazing in helping make the end of life decision. They suggested to use a home euthanasia service as it was around the holidays on a weekend. Shortly after the passing of our elderly cat, we got a new young adult Ragdoll Munchkin cat which they are amazing at answering my questions. I plan on bringing a new purebred ragdoll kitten in a couple months to our household and they will see him as well. They answer all my questions and I'm sure they are very busy. They are very kind and understanding. They take the time in explaining everything. I feel safe and comfortable with their knowledge, and my animals in their care.

As a new client I appreciate getting an estimate prior to treatment and that there was no waiting for it. Great staff and "Kitty" improved within 14 hours.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with all the vets and techs over the last couple of years and they are all fantastic. The crew at both locations are well versed in their knowledge and do a great job with our pets. We have used them a couple of times for last minute near emergencies and they have been able to diagnose our issues and keep our pets healthy and us out of the ER. I can’t speak highly enough of the team. One extra note, we have a large dog and a working dog and for both animals the team has been great. If you have a high energy pup don’t worry about getting help here they are ready.
