You saved my dog’s life. Charlotte is a senior pit bull, and we have a new baby. The potty accidents in the house were going to force our hand in a very undesirable direction. But since you put her on the meds, it’s been like night and day! I’m crying as I write this because I’ve had her for almost 10 years, I wasn’t ready to let her go. I’ve been to other vets since she started having accidents and none of them did anything. I just KNEW it wasn’t behavioral. She is such a good girl, and she loves the babies, so I didn’t think she was jealous. That was an email I sent to the doctor after my most recent visit. And I meant every word. I am so so grateful. He did what other vets didn’t/couldn’t. I didn’t remember that I had already posted the review below, and I’ve never been faced with wanting to post a SECOND great review… but I discovered that you can’t write a second review on Google. So I edited to add this experience. I actually feel like they care. Took my 10 year old pit bull there for her dental, she had some extractions, a nail trim and we had a lipoma removed while she was under. The prices were reasonable, for the dental, vaccines, and most everything else… but $300 to have that little growth removed from her elbow, not including pathology, when she was already under anesthesia for the dental? Idk, I’ll let the reader decide. Even so, 5 stars, will certainly return. Thank you for taking care of my baby.

Customer reviews for Giller Animal Hospital present a range of experiences, highlighting both positive and negative aspects of the clinic. One reviewer expressed immense gratitude for the clinic's ability to diagnose and treat their senior pit bull's medical issue, which other vets had missed. They emphasized the life-changing impact of the treatment and praised the doctor's ability to "do what other vets didn’t/couldn’t."
Another reviewer shared a generally positive experience regarding their dog's dental procedure and lipoma removal. They found the prices "reasonable" for most services but questioned the $300 charge for the lipoma removal, even though it was performed during the same anesthesia as the dental procedure. Despite this, they gave the clinic a 5-star rating and stated they would return.
However, a contrasting experience was shared by another reviewer who described their visit as "the worst experience I have ever had at a vets office." They brought their dog in for tracheal X-rays and reported that their dog collapsed and potentially had a seizure during the procedure. They were dissatisfied with the doctor's defensive behavior and felt that he yelled at them when they expressed discomfort with fully sedating their dog. They also reported that the doctor stated he was not an emergency vet and could not handle the stress of medical emergencies. This reviewer praised the receptionist and tech for their kindness but stated they would not return due to the doctor's behavior.
The reviews indicate that Giller Animal Hospital provides potentially life-saving care and reasonable prices for many services. However, there are significant concerns regarding the doctor's communication and behavior, particularly during stressful or emergency situations. The clinic's ability to diagnose and treat complex medical issues is commendable, but the reported customer service issues may deter potential clients.
The mixed reviews indicate that while the clinic has the potential to provide good care, it is important to be aware of the potential for negative interactions with the doctor. The variability of customer experiences highlights the importance of considering both the medical expertise and the customer service aspects of this clinic.

Nov 02, 2024 · Beth WeirThis was the worst experience I have ever had at a vets office. I brought my dog in for X-rays of his trachea as he has a hard time swallowing. I was asked to leave the room so they could take the images which I understood and waited in the lobby. A couple minutes later the doctor came out and said my dog collapsed and may have had a seizure and was currently hooked up to the oxygen machine. When I asked if my dog had just collapsed or if he collapsed and then seized the doctor immediately got defensive as if I was accusing him of something. The dr. Said I would have to fully sedate my dog to get the X-rays done and when I said I was uncomfortable with that he started yelling at me and saying I could go somewhere else then because he wasn’t going to get blamed for something. The dr stormed out of the room and I was left alone with just the tech. She was very nice and nurturing to my dog who was still at this point hooked up to the oxygen machine. The dr returned back in the room and I told him I was uncomfortable having him take care of my dog to which he said okay go somewhere else then and walked away. I asked him if he was the owner and of course he is. I explained how he spoke to me was inappropriate given I had never raised my voice at him and he said customers are mean to him all day and that he’s had a busy day seeing a lot of clients and that he’s not an emergency doctor because he can’t handle the stress. My problem with that is I didn’t bring my dog in to the vet as an emergency the emergency situation happened at his practice under his care. If he can’t handle the medical emergencies that come with seeing everyday patients then he shouldn’t be in vet care. The only reason I started going there is because of how reasonably priced they are. I put my dogs life in jeopardy because I wanted to find a cheap vet. I do want to add the receptionist was also very nice and understanding and those ladies are probably the main reason clients keep coming back. It’s a shame when you can tell the employees are used to apologizing for his behavior.
Dec 18, 2024 · Rachel StoneGreat experience. My cat Jake was so sick, not eating or drinking water. On a Sunday morning, we brought her to Thrive ER pet hospital, we returned Sunday evening, as she was still vomiting.. Monday mid morning we brought her to Giller Animal Hospital. She began to slowly get better. It's Saturday, if you didn't know how sick she was, we were so afraid she wasn't going to make it, you wouldn't know she was that sick a few days earlier. Thank you ❤️
Nov 03, 2024 · Michelle BernardHighly recommend this place as over the years my dog was neutered and had two dental cleanings here. The staff always do an amazing job, even for these more intense procedures (getting anesthesia, etc). Last visit my dog had some teeth pulled and was handled perfectly. My dog healed up quickly and showing zero signs of pain from his previous dental issues thanks to the amazing vet & staff!
Jul 25, 2024 · Tim OlpWe've been coming to Gillers for years. We left Carol Stream animal hospital, as for us Gillers was simply more affordable. The nursing staff ladies have always been very kind, polite and attentive to our needs. Last year our senior dog, a Golden Doodle of 13 years past on. It came on suddenly at night with what seemed like a seizure or brain aneurism, the following morning we rushed her in before Gillers had even opened for buisness hours. The nursing staff immediately let us in and called the doctor and he rushed in as quick as he could. As I was sobbing and crying the doctor was calm and compassionate. Our dog ended up being put to sleep due to health reasons. But Gillers had taken care of her(our dog) for years and years and I never once had a negative experience nor any issues. I continue to bring our dogs here regularly and have grown fond of the staff (Lyndsay & Joanna) and Doctor Jay. They have done wonders with helping my other dog, a chocolate labrador with her allergies and all her needs as well. I recommend them and am thankful for them and all they have done!
May 10, 2024 · Brandon Cahill0 stars. The worst experience I have ever had. In and out in 9 minutes and they somehow managed to draw blood too. The doctor tried to tell me there is new medication for kidney disease in cats with no side effects. I don't need a medical degree to know that every medication comes with some sort of potential side effects. Don't do this to your pet. Do not bring them here.
Mar 27, 2025 · Zuzanna DlugiWe have used this clinic for years with multiple dogs. The Doctor and his vet techs are very kind and very knowledgeable. Their prices for basic care and vaccines are fair and so are surgery prices.
