The staff here are friendly and welcoming. However, they aren’t open on Saturdays and don’t have an emergency clinic. Tanner fell last night and hurt himself really bad. I had to take him to Weathered Rock’s emergency clinic. It was the only one who would take him. They were truly concerned for him. The vet also is saving me $53 a month in medicine for his arthritis. Plus they waved the $50 emergency fee, they said it was $100 but only charged me $50 but tanner was in so much pain. So I’m going to switch to them. Because they are open on Saturdays and are more convenient for me and I feel have already saved me a bunch of money. However, I do like the staff here and I will miss their friendly service.

Welcome to Furry Kids Wellness & Urgent Care - MERGED WITH SOUTHWEST ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Furry Kids Wellness & Urgent Care - MERGED WITH SOUTHWEST ANIMAL HOSPITAL, located at 2402 E McCarty St, Jefferson City, MO 65101, USA, represents a significant establishment within the local veterinary landscape. This merger signifies an expanded capacity and a broader range of services for pet owners in Jefferson City and surrounding areas. As a dedicated Pet Hospital, the combined entity aims to provide comprehensive veterinary care, blending wellness services with capabilities for urgent needs.
The environment at Southwest Animal Hospital, which now includes the services of Furry Kids Wellness & Urgent Care, is designed to be welcoming and professional. While specific details about the interior of the newly merged entity at the 2402 E McCarty St location are not explicitly detailed in the provided information, insights from reviews suggest a positive atmosphere. Clients consistently describe the staff as "friendly and welcoming," which is crucial for creating a comfortable experience for both pets and their owners during what can often be stressful visits. Southwest Animal Hospital's main location at 1410 Jefferson St in Jefferson City is known for being a full-service veterinary hospital, having moved into a new building in 2013. This new facility is equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, surgical laser, and cold laser therapy. It's plausible that the merged entity benefits from shared resources or similar standards of facility care, ensuring a clean, organized, and adequately equipped space for treating animals. The emphasis on a caring and professional environment helps ensure that pets receive care in a setting that prioritizes their comfort and well-being.
The services provided by this unified Pet Hospital are extensive, catering to various aspects of pet health. The name "Furry Kids Wellness & Urgent Care" itself suggests a dual focus: preventative wellness and addressing immediate medical concerns. Typically, wellness services include routine examinations, vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutritional counseling, and microchipping – all vital for maintaining long-term pet health. The "Urgent Care" component implies that the facility is equipped to handle non-life-threatening emergencies and conditions requiring prompt attention, such as sudden illnesses or minor injuries. While one customer review highlights the absence of 24/7 emergency services and Saturday hours at the former Furry Kids location, Southwest Animal Hospital *does* offer Saturday hours (8:00 AM - 2:00 PM) and extended evening hours until 8:00 PM Monday through Friday. This broader availability under the merged practice provides increased convenience for pet owners. Southwest Animal Hospital also provides a full range of medical and surgical care, including spay & neuter, dental care, various surgical procedures, diagnostics, allergy testing, in-house laboratory services, pain management, and pharmacy services. They cater to a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and even offer limited preventative care for birds and exotic pets. The integrated services of the merged practice thus offer a comprehensive suite of options for pet health.
Key features of the combined practice include a strong emphasis on professional and caring service, as echoed by multiple client testimonials. The staff's friendliness and welcoming demeanor contribute significantly to a positive client experience. One review specifically praises the "Great care and professional service," noting how the vet and assistant "figured out what was wrong" with a sick Yorkie on a Sunday, leading to a quick recovery. This demonstrates the clinical competence and dedication of the veterinary team. While the previous Furry Kids location did not offer Saturday hours or full emergency services, the merger with Southwest Animal Hospital addresses some of these limitations, with Southwest Animal Hospital offering Saturday hours and being a full-service facility with in-house diagnostics and surgical capabilities. However, it's important to note that for severe emergencies outside of their operating hours, pet owners may still need to seek specialized emergency clinics like Weathered Rock’s emergency clinic, as mentioned in one review. This highlights a common aspect of veterinary care, where critical overnight or weekend emergencies are often referred to dedicated emergency hospitals. The ability to manage various cases, from routine wellness to acute illness, and the perceived effectiveness in diagnosing and treating conditions are strong features of this veterinary practice.
For promotional information, the merged identity signifies a stronger, more comprehensive veterinary offering in Jefferson City. The phone numbers, (573) 634-7387 and +1 573-634-7387, provide direct lines of contact for appointments and inquiries. The location at 2402 E McCarty St, Jefferson City, MO 65101, USA, ensures accessibility for local residents. The overwhelmingly positive sentiment from clients regarding the staff's caring nature and professionalism serves as a powerful form of word-of-mouth promotion. Although one reviewer mentioned switching clinics due to weekend hours and cost savings at another clinic for a specific situation (arthritis medication), the underlying positive feedback about the staff's demeanor ("I do like the staff here and I will miss their friendly service") indicates that the quality of interaction remains high. Southwest Animal Hospital's official website further details their commitment to "meeting the highest industry standards" as an AAHA accredited hospital, which is a significant quality indicator for pet owners. They also highlight the convenience of their extended evening hours and Saturday availability, setting them apart from many clinics. The combined entity can leverage the established reputation and expanded capabilities of Southwest Animal Hospital, offering a broad array of services from routine wellness to advanced diagnostics and surgery, all within a caring and professional environment. This comprehensive approach, coupled with the proven dedication of the staff, forms the core of their promotional appeal to the local community.

Feb 04, 2023 · Lori ElliottGreat care and professional service. A sick Yorkie on a Sunday was naturally matter of concern. The Vet and assistant took great care of her and figured out what was wrong. Two days later the dog was back to normal. Thanks so much.
Apr 05, 2021 · Don BaldridgeWe needed to get our 3 legged cat in to the vet immediately because his front leg was non weight-bearing. Furry Kids had us in right away and Dr. Stannard was wonderful with Max! She quickly identified that his arm was broken and the nerves were not working. She gave us pain medicine to get him through a few days while we made a decision between surgery and euthanasia. We decided on surgery but unfortunately the vet was backed up and we needed to wait longer than expected. Dr. Stannard got us another appointment right away to check on Max's arm and make sure it was not becoming infected and to make sure he had plenty of medication to get through till surgery. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The office is clean. I will definitely be going back to Furry Kids wellness for my pet needs!
Aug 09, 2021 · Moody YakkerEven though Libby Lu wasn't exactly the perfect client, she looked absolutely adorable after being groomed!! See the before and after photos! Highly recommend!!!
