I have used primarily Dr. Brown, but a friend told me Dr. Jones is great and has experience with Thoroughbreds, so we decided to try her. Dr. Jones has great patient care, she is friendly, she is informative, on time, patient around children (my 4 year old was bouncing off the walls lol) and great with horses and their overall care! Highly recommend this practice! The vets here are wonderful and very kind. Thanks so much again!

Welcome to Foothill Equine - Drs. Peralez & Brown

Foothill Equine - Drs. Peralez & Brown stands as a specialized and highly respected Pet Hospital catering specifically to the unique needs of horses in Arcadia, California, and the greater Los Angeles area. Located at 1009 N Santa Anita Ave, Arcadia, CA 91006, USA, this practice is a vital resource for horse owners seeking dedicated and expert veterinary care for their equines. Unlike a general pet hospital that caters to various small animals, Foothill Equine's specialization ensures that all aspects of their service, from facilities to veterinary expertise, are tailored to horses. They are readily accessible by phone at (626) 446-8911 or mobile at +1 626-446-8911, offering a critical lifeline for horse owners, especially in emergency situations.

The environment at Foothill Equine is designed to be highly functional and efficient for equine care. While it may not feature a traditional "waiting room" in the same way a small animal clinic would, their operational setup is geared towards handling horses, often through mobile services directly at stables or farms, or at their dedicated facility for more intensive procedures. The key aspect of their environment is the expertise and manner of their staff, which contributes significantly to a calm and cooperative experience for both horses and their owners. Reviews highlight the vets as "wonderful and very kind," and Dr. Jones is specifically mentioned as "patient around children," indicating a family-friendly and accommodating atmosphere even during veterinary visits, which can sometimes be chaotic with large animals. The practice prioritizes safety precautions and sanitation standards, crucial for maintaining the health of equine patients and preventing disease transmission. Their goal is to create a memorable and enjoyable experience, making clients feel supported and ensuring the highest quality of service.

Foothill Equine offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services specifically tailored for horses. These services include, but are not limited to, general medicine for diagnosing and treating a variety of equine medical needs, lameness evaluations to diagnose and address issues affecting a horse's gait, and advanced dentistry, including in-field dental services such as teeth floating. They also provide dermatology services for skin conditions and irritations, reproductive services for breeding needs, and oncology for cancer treatment. Diagnostic capabilities are robust, featuring digital radiology and ultrasound examinations for accurate internal assessments. Preventative care is a cornerstone of their practice, with annual wellness exams, deworming protocols based on fecal egg counts, and vaccinations to maintain overall health. Additionally, they offer pre-purchase examinations, essential for prospective horse owners, and specialized senior horse care. In emergency situations, Foothill Equine is committed to fast and responsible care, with one of their veterinarians (Drs. Wheat, Peralez, Brown, Jones, and their emergency associate Dr. Susan Bauer) always on call 24/7, ready to respond promptly to critical conditions such as colic, lacerations, eye injuries, and severe lameness. Their dedication to educating horse owners is also a significant service, empowering clients with a thorough understanding of horse conditions to make informed decisions about treatment.

Several features make Foothill Equine - Drs. Peralez & Brown particularly unique and highly recommended by their clientele. A standout feature is the collective expertise and compassionate approach of their veterinary team. The review specifically praises Dr. Jones for her "great patient care," being "friendly," "informative," "on time," and "great with horses and their overall care," along with her valuable experience with Thoroughbreds. This specific expertise is a significant asset for horse owners involved in racing or breeding Thoroughbreds, ensuring specialized knowledge for this breed's particular health requirements. The consistent positive feedback on the kindness and knowledge of all the vets underscores the high standard of care. The practice's ability to handle emergency situations with promptness and clear communication is also a critical feature, reassuring horse owners during stressful times. They are committed to keeping owners informed of all treatment options and associated costs, fostering transparency and trust. The emphasis on building personal relationships with horses and their owners, as stated on their website, further differentiates them, making the veterinary experience less daunting and more collaborative. Their mobile service capability means they can bring their expertise directly to the horse, which is often more convenient and less stressful for the animal than transport to a clinic.

While specific promotional campaigns like discounts are not detailed, the most effective promotion for Foothill Equine comes from the strong word-of-mouth recommendations and the long-standing trust they have cultivated with their clients. The repeated, enthusiastic endorsement from customers who have used their services for years, even decades, is a powerful testament to their quality of care. For example, a client mentioning using Dr. Brown for "primarily" their needs, but also trying Dr. Jones based on a friend's recommendation, illustrates the strong referral network and positive reputation within the equine community. The statement "Highly recommend this practice!" is a direct and compelling call to action for potential new clients. The ability to save a 30-year-old horse from a severe colic episode, with vets driving two hours after hours in heavy traffic, exemplifies their extraordinary dedication and clinical effectiveness, which serves as an invaluable promotional story. Their proactive approach to horse health, focusing on early detection and preventative care, also resonates with responsible horse owners. The clear articulation of their values, such as "top-quality customer service backed by exceptional horse care" and a commitment to ensuring a "memorable and enjoyable experience," implicitly promotes their practice as a client-centric and results-driven facility. By consistently delivering on these promises, Foothill Equine - Drs. Peralez & Brown naturally attracts and retains a loyal client base, making them a premier choice for equine veterinary services in the region.

Dr. Wheat came out to see a horse I take care of for a swollen eye. What a lovely, lovely man. Explained everything, looked him over for me and did a small check up while he was there. I was very impressed and just couldn’t believe what a nice man he is. One can see he loves his job and said he’d been doing it for 40 years with no retirement in sight.

The vet Brown, I had a terrible experience, due to the lack of professionality and quality of service. First, did not bring an assistant with her, for sudation. She personally had me hold down my own horse. Almost got kicked and could have been worse. The needle even got stuck in my horse's neck, she did not even examine my horse. This was very unprofessional of her, I was very scared and felt very concerned. She also wanted to charge $410 for a job that was NOT even complete. ON top of it, I paid half she said is going to come back and finish. I get a called today, saying my horse is dangerous and they want full PAYMENT!!! I have never in my life had a vet have me hold down my own animal while performing a shot. This is the worse, they seem to care about money more than my HORSE???? This is the most ripped-off unprofessional company I have come a crossed.
