Feathers and Fur Animal Hospital

Definitely the best veterinary hospital in the San Diego area. Dr. G is a phenomenal veterinarian, she's very knowledgeable in various fields whether it's fur or feather! She practically speaks bird, really has her way around avian patients (chicken, duck, parrot, parakeet, you name it!). Although she is passionate towards birds, Dr. Gianopoulos also shows plenty of love towards my dogs and cats. The facility is clean, the staff is very nice and approachable. Their price is reasonable and they're efficient in delivering the best care possible. Highly recommend anyone who is seeking incredible care for their pets, feather or fur.

Dr G is the best vet ever! She really takes the time needed to answer all questions. I never felt rushed for all I could tell we were her only patients. That's how it felt. She genuinely loves her patients and it shows. The techs and staff are very helpful and kind. Even though this office is 40 minutes further away than my regular vet, I am now going to have her be my birds regular vet. She is just that awesome!

Dr. G is the absolute best! She always helps me with my chickens and she is very knowledgable when it comes to birds. Her bedside manner is excellent and I feel like she truly cares about my pets (dogs, cat, chickens). When my dog was having a skin issue and scratching herself raw, she knew exactly what to do and fixed the problem right away. There is a review down below mentioning that she is not a good fit as a dog veterinarian - I personally have not had this experience. I feel that she takes great care of my dogs and listens to my concerns thoroughly. If you are looking for an excellent veterinarian for your pets, including your dogs and birds, I highly recommend Dr. G!

This used to be my favorite animal hospital when it was Eastridge Animal Hospital. I cannot say that anymore. Now it feels they want to get as much money out of you as possible. Last time I was there they tried to sell me a ridiculous ear exam fee when it was obvious all I needed was the medication. And most recently when I called to schedule an appointment, I told the woman my dog is having issues and she basically just insists I take him to the urgent care. I am aware that in an emergency I should take my dog to urgent care. But this is not something that is an immediate danger. It felt very disingenuous that instead of helping me make an affordable and convenient vet appointment, I was basically being talked to like I’m a poor pet parent and ignored. The woman on the phone made no attempt at scheduling the appointment when I asked her to and just sat there in silence. I don’t appreciate this lack of empathy from this company. Taking my dog to the emergency room is very expensive. This is why these urgent care vet hospitals make so much money, because owners go into a full panic and end up spending thousands. I don’t appreciate this company trying to pressure me into spending thousands when they simply can help me and schedule my appointment and offer me a convenient time. This company does not know my income and obviously could care less if I am struggling financially. It just felt like instead of offering me a friendly solution to my problem, their only concern was earning as much money as possible from me as the urgent care is a partnered company. I ended up booking an appointment somewhere else. Unlikely I will return here. Sucks because I really used to like this place before it became Feathers and Fur.

feathers and fur has already been SO helpful for me and my pup. after having a not so great (more like several not so great ones lol) interaction at the VCA i knew it was time to start taking my dogs elsewhere. i reached out to a family who i know, knows their stuff about taking care of their animals so i took their recommendation to feathers and fur as soon as i heard it and booked an appointment for the same week. originally, while still at the VCA, my dog had struggled with a yeast infection and open sores as a result of the itching from the infection. we did all the instructions as we were told and the infection came back almost immediately upon finishing his medications. when i called them to set up a recheck they essentially put the blame back on me for not properly following instructions(which were not given to me as they should've been/wasn't even the issue). i knew that he likely just needed more medication to help finish clearing the infection which is why i came to feathers and fur! upon walking in every employee i came across was so nice, helpful, and understanding. Dr Daniela was SO kind and really made this process so much easier than it ever has been at the VCA. she showed me an estimate of everything if we did absolutely every test and treatment possible, and then helped to explain what isn't necessary and what is. when i say this alone made me want to cry happy tears! my biggest anxiety with VCA & vets in general is feeling like i have to turn down treatments/tests because i can't afford them and have to pick out what i find necessary, but Dr Daniela helped explain what was most important to least important on our invoice and this made all my anxiety just simmer away. i felt confident taking off certain tests while still feeling like my dog was getting the best and most important treatments possible. we ended up having to shave the sides of my pup so i could get better access to shampooing him at home and the pictures i attached show the difference immediately upon leaving the vet, and then literally 24 hours later!! the meds and shampoo helped my baby so quickly and i felt so much relief knowing i wasn't at fault after all and my baby just needed more meds and a kinder vet. i won't be taking either of my dogs anywhere else!!
