First ever review, but for anyone who is either looking for a vet for the first time or looking to make a switch- Erie Canal Animal Hospital is it. Never thought I'd be as impressed with the care and responsiveness from a vet but they check both boxes. I started going there through a recommendation it's been almost 5 years now and still extremely happy!

We have been coming here for over a decade and we always have a great experience. We needed them today for an emergency and they got us in right away, no waiting. They helped my dog who swallowed something that needed to come back up. The techs were so kind and efficient and saved the day. Very thankful for this office and I recommend them to everyone who asks.

My dog was not feeling well after her visit with the groomer. (That's another story) I appreciate Apple Country for getting her in while she was not feeling well. By the time I got to the office she had started acting more like herself, but I still wanted to make sure she was ok so I kept the appointment. Getting there it was ok..check in was easy, the staff was very nice and extremely pleasant. They took us right in and started out taking her weight at her asking questions and took her temperature. Then they came in and asked if we wanted to do labs on her and check her WBC etc.. they went on to say that she could have an infection and an underlining issue and so on before the Doctor even came in. Stating the doctor would want us to look at her labs. Never mentioning anything about what the price would entitle. After everything which was a Quick Look over, anal extraction, temperature, weight, listen to her heart and belly, feeling her belly and lymph nodes, and let’s not forget those expensive labs (in which I was NOT told before hand of the cost) they gave me a bill of $456.00! WTH! Of course I was greatly upset! The girl taking care of me obviously knew I was upset ( probably because of the bs word I used) and went back to the practice manager Jaime unbeknownst to me. Jamie apparently asked her if I would like to discuss my concern we can speak in a room. After inviting me into a nearby room, I explained my feelings and how I was blindsided by the amount owed and was not told of what the possible cost of labs. that clients should be made aware of the amount or cost of labs before hand as a courtesy to clients. With that, Jaime ( practice manager) proceeded to say, don’t tell us how to run things. Went on to say, we can put a pop up on your account to inform you in the future. I went on to say, I’m simply saying that you should inform ALL clients of possible cost before hand in order to alleviate upset clients when they are checking out and blindsided with and $456.00 bill. It’s quite upsetting and extremely pricey. Again, don't tell me how to do things. She didn't want to hear anything and proceeded to open the door for me to leave. She also went on to say that they were doing me the favor of getting my sick dog in (which I paid a upfront fee of $72 for and isn't that their job?) and brought up my sister who had been a client there for years. Yet, so was I in the past at the Hilton location. Who is this person to talk to ANYBODY in that manner. Who is she to bring up anybody else other than the client itself, which is my dog. To have the “Practice Manager” come off extremely rude and demeaning. I lost it and stated she was being a B*t@&. (I know, that wasn’t not nice and totally wrong on my part. My true apologies to whomever else this affected. However, that’s how she came across.) I’ve worked in the medical field for 30+yrs and also a practice manager myself. I would never not understand how a client wouldn’t be upset over being blindsided by extremely large bill without being made aware prior. That she could not admit to negligence on they’re behalf, not even an apology at all! No nothing! She is a real.... you know what! It’s things like this that deter people from getting pets.. Vets are very expensive as it is, then the unexpected and overpriced services which make it impossible for most people to afford. Communication can make world of difference. In my professional and personal opinion, Jaime is not a good fit for the position she is in! Management at Apple Country Erie Canal in Spencerport needs a Qualified Manager with experience in customer communication skills.

I have a cat that is normally very sassy at the Vet. I decided to make an appointment here because a friend of mine brings her anxious doggy here and she had nothing but good things to say. The techs that worked on my cat were wonderful. They were able to get her blood work done and the vet was even able to get a good look at her teeth. Highly recommend this place if you have an anxious pet. I'd also like to point out that the place is very clean. It doesn't smell like animals and they have feliway diffusers in the exam rooms.
