Buffalo Equine Introduce
Buffalo Equine, situated at 3810 County Rd 12 N, Buffalo, MN 55313, USA, stands as a premier "Pet Hospital" uniquely dedicated to the health and well-being of horses. This full-service veterinary clinic provides specialized equine care, catering to the diverse needs of horse owners in Buffalo and the broader West Metro area of Minnesota. With a team of experienced veterinarians, including highly regarded professionals like Dr. Winstead Kirkpatrick and Dr. Abbigail Novotny, Buffalo Equine is committed to offering comprehensive medical, surgical, and reproductive services, both at their clinic and through their extensive ambulatory (on-farm) practice. Their mission is to provide the best possible health care for horses, focusing on preventative measures while also being fully equipped for urgent and emergency situations.
The environment at Buffalo Equine is designed to meet the specific requirements of equine patients, ranging from large, comfortable stalls for in-clinic care to specialized areas for diagnostics and surgery. The clinic itself is a professional and well-maintained facility, ensuring a safe and calm atmosphere for horses undergoing treatment or examination. For their ambulatory services, the veterinarians bring a well-equipped mobile clinic directly to the client's farm or stable, providing convenience and minimizing stress for the horses by treating them in their familiar surroundings. This dual approach allows for flexible and comprehensive care. Clients consistently praise the staff for their kindness, thoroughness, and reassurance, even in high-stress situations. The ability to meet a veterinarian after hours for an emergency, as highlighted in a review where Dr. Winstead attended to a horse's wound promptly and gently, speaks volumes about their dedication. Similarly, the immediate response from Dr. Novotny for a sick horse on a Saturday night and her pleasant, reassuring demeanor underscore the compassionate and professional environment cultivated by Buffalo Equine.
Buffalo Equine offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services specifically tailored for horses. Their services are broadly categorized into ambulatory, medical, surgical, and reproductive care. Ambulatory services mean their veterinarians can travel to farms for routine check-ups, vaccinations, deworming schedules, lameness exams, and field diagnostics. Medical services cover the diagnosis and treatment of various equine illnesses, often utilizing their advanced portable diagnostic equipment. Surgical services range from routine procedures to more complex operations, with the capability to perform both in-clinic and potentially some field surgeries. Reproductive services are a key component, providing comprehensive care for breeding mares and stallions. Beyond these, the clinic also offers advanced diagnostic capabilities, including portable digital X-ray, digital ultrasound, and endoscopy, allowing for detailed imaging and internal examinations on-site or at the clinic. Preventative care is a cornerstone of their practice, with a strong emphasis on personalized disease prevention through annual examinations, tailored vaccination programs (including Influenza, Rhinopneumonitis, Encephalitis, Tetanus, West Nile, and Rabies), and deworming strategies. They also provide pre-purchase examinations, essential for prospective horse buyers, and dental care. For emergencies, Buffalo Equine offers 24/7/365 availability to established clients, demonstrating their commitment to urgent care for the equine community.
Several features make Buffalo Equine a standout "Pet Hospital" for horses. Firstly, their extensive ambulatory service is a significant advantage, allowing veterinarians to provide high-quality care directly on the farm. This is crucial for large animals like horses, where transportation can be challenging and stressful. Secondly, their commitment to advanced portable diagnostics, including digital X-ray, digital ultrasound, and endoscopy, sets them apart. These technologies enable quick and accurate diagnoses in the field, leading to more immediate and effective treatment plans for conditions like subtle lameness or internal issues. Thirdly, the availability of 24/7 emergency services for established clients provides immense peace of mind for horse owners, knowing that expert help is just a phone call away, even after hours. This critical service ensures that horses receive timely care during unexpected injuries or illnesses, as evidenced by positive client testimonials about prompt and effective emergency responses. Furthermore, the expertise of their veterinary team, with doctors like Dr. Winstead Kirkpatrick having graduated from institutions like Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine and Dr. Steve Boster from the University of Minnesota, ensures a high level of specialized knowledge and skill. Their focus on building proactive relationships with clients for preventative care, as highlighted in their wellness program, demonstrates a holistic approach to equine health.
Promotional information for Buffalo Equine generally emphasizes their comprehensive services, their availability for emergency care, and their commitment to preventative medicine. Their official website (buffaloequine.com) serves as the primary hub for information, detailing their services, introducing their team of veterinarians, and providing essential contact information including their main phone number (763) 682-2225 or +1 763-682-2225. They clearly state their regular business hours (Monday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM) and underscore the availability of their veterinarians for routine telephone questions or to discuss ongoing medical cases. A key promotional aspect is their "Wellness Program," which aims to provide personalized disease prevention and health maintenance services at an affordable price, often with an enrollment deadline (e.g., February 15th for the 2023 program). This program encourages regular examinations and tailored vaccination schedules. While specific ongoing discounts or seasonal promotions are not explicitly detailed in general online information, veterinary clinics like Buffalo Equine often run specials on deworming, specific vaccinations, or dental care during certain times of the year. Their emphasis on "timely emergency care during and after hours" is a strong promotional message, particularly for an equine practice where emergencies can be sudden and severe. Client testimonials, readily available online, serve as powerful endorsements, highlighting the compassionate and thorough care provided by their veterinarians, reinforcing the clinic's reputation for excellent service.

Dec 21, 2024 · Ashley WickenhauserI was new to the area, had a sick horse on a Saturday night, found Buffalo Equine on the internet and gave them a call. Answering service picked up right away and referred me to the on call vet, Dr. Novotny. I received an immediate call from Dr. Novotny, who met me at the barn within 30 minutes. I felt confident with her from the start. She explained what I could do to help my horse recover and left thorough written directions regarding meds and aftercare. She was pleasant, reassuring and took the time to learn about my horse and his needs. I am definitely using Buffalo Equine for all future vet needs.
