I started bringing my puppy Yorkie there based on the positive reviews and was never treated very well. It was basically get you in and out. The vet we saw was NOT attentive and when inquiring about getting him neutered she basically blew us off like she didn’t want the business. Every visit the vet came in once, left the room, and never came back. I found a large tick on my dog and called them right away, after getting it off, asking what I should do. Anyone would think they’d schedule and apt to get blood work done. They told me to look out for the symptoms and call them if he had any. He never showed signs and I visited them since for updated shots and a WELLNESS visit. It was never brought up, like the receptionist didn’t note it in his chart, and my questions weren’t answered. I went to Agape in Horseheads yesterday and they were so attentive with my pup and he tested POSITIVE with Lyme Disease... I’m really upset about the lack of attention to detail and how unfriendly the vet is. You work with people, act like you want to be there.

Welcome to Athens Animal Hospital: Hamilton Shelley R DVM

Welcome to Athens Animal Hospital: Hamilton Shelley R DVM, a Pet Hospital located at 475 Riverside Dr, Athens, PA 18810, USA. This facility aims to provide veterinary care services to the local community. Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at Athens Animal Hospital appear to vary significantly.

Several concerning reviews highlight issues with the attentiveness and communication of at least one of the veterinarians. One pet owner who brought their puppy for initial care reported feeling rushed during visits. They stated that the veterinarian they saw was not attentive and seemed dismissive when asked about neutering their pet, giving the impression of not wanting their business. This reviewer also noted a pattern where the vet would enter the examination room briefly, leave, and not return, leading to unanswered questions and a feeling of being inadequately cared for.

Another particularly troubling review describes a situation where a dog owner found a tick on their pet and contacted Athens Animal Hospital for guidance on potential Lyme disease testing. Instead of scheduling an appointment for blood work, they were advised to simply monitor for symptoms. Subsequently, during a wellness visit and updated shots at the same clinic, the previous tick incident was reportedly not addressed, suggesting a lack of follow-up or communication within the clinic staff regarding the dog's history. This lack of attention to detail reportedly resulted in a delayed diagnosis of Lyme disease, which was later confirmed at another veterinary practice. The reviewer expressed significant upset regarding the perceived lack of care and the unfriendly demeanor of the veterinarian, emphasizing the importance of empathy and attentiveness in a customer-facing role.

These negative reviews paint a picture of potential shortcomings in the thoroughness of examinations, the attentiveness of at least one veterinarian, and the follow-up on important health concerns. The lack of communication between staff members, as suggested by the Lyme disease incident not being noted in the pet's chart, could also be a contributing factor to these negative experiences.

However, not all feedback is negative. One reviewer shared a positive experience regarding an emergency appointment for their puppy. They specifically praised the office staff ("the girls in the office") for their attentiveness, for taking the time to answer all questions and concerns, and for treating their pet with great care. This positive feedback suggests that while there may be issues with the veterinary care provided by at least one individual, the administrative and support staff may be more customer-focused and compassionate.

The contrasting reviews make it difficult to ascertain the overall environment of Athens Animal Hospital. While one might infer a potentially rushed or impersonal atmosphere based on the negative experiences with the veterinarian, the positive comments about the office staff suggest a friendlier and more supportive front-of-house environment. More information would be needed to provide a comprehensive description of the clinic's overall ambiance and facilities.

Given the limited and conflicting information, it is challenging to provide a detailed overview of the services offered at Athens Animal Hospital. Based on the nature of a general Pet Hospital, it is likely that they offer standard services such as routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for common illnesses. However, the negative reviews raise concerns about the quality and thoroughness of these services, particularly regarding diagnosis and follow-up. To obtain a complete and accurate list of the services provided, including any specialized treatments or surgical capabilities, it is recommended to contact Athens Animal Hospital directly at (570) 888-2354 or +1 570-888-2354.

In terms of features, the mixed reviews highlight both potential strengths and weaknesses. A potential strength appears to be the friendly and caring nature of the office staff, who are commended for their attentiveness and support. However, a significant weakness seems to be the lack of attentiveness and potentially unfriendly demeanor of at least one of the veterinarians, as reported by multiple reviewers. The lack of thoroughness in examinations and follow-up on critical health information are also concerning features based on the negative feedback.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or specific features that might differentiate Athens Animal Hospital from other veterinary practices in the area. Local users interested in learning about pricing, payment options, or any special services should contact the hospital directly.

In conclusion, Athens Animal Hospital: Hamilton Shelley R DVM in Athens, PA, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While the office staff appears to be friendly and supportive, several concerning reports highlight a lack of attentiveness, poor communication, and inadequate follow-up from at least one of the veterinarians. These issues raise significant concerns about the quality of care provided. Potential clients should carefully consider these reviews and may want to seek further information or clarification from the hospital directly before entrusting their pets to their care. It is crucial to feel confident in the thoroughness and attentiveness of the veterinary team, and the current feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in this regard at Athens Animal Hospital.

Took my pup in for an emergency appointment and they were amazing! The girls in the office took the time to make sure all my questions and concerns were answered and treated my lily just like one of their own.

I tried to make a appointment since my dog was sick and I couldn't get in for 2 weeks, then I told them I was never there before and the guy said that might be a problem and it could be longer.
