Dr saved my cats life! So refreshing to find a Dr that actually cares about the furbaby, and not about the money, AND knows what he’s talking about! So, for 3 years, and thousands of dollars later, my cat has been misdiagnosed by multiple vets. They’ve been telling me that he keeps peeing outside the litter box because he’s stressed, and it’s causing cystitis. They even prescribed him prozac. On Friday I came in crying because my cat hadn’t peed in 24 hours, wasn’t eating, and his whole body was cramping up from pain. I was really panicking. The Dr said he needs an immediate unblocking procedure because his bladder was huge, and afterwards he would need a surgery to widen his urethra because he actually has a genetic condition NOT stress, and that’s why he’s peeing outside the litter box and keeps having issues. However, Dr told me he couldn’t do the procedure for a few hours, and since this was urgent he sent me to the nearby ER. I didn’t have a carrier because I’m in the process of moving and I don’t know where anything is, so he sent his assistant to find one for me, which was so sweet. And they didn’t charge me anything. I get to the ER and they tell me it will cost 5k-7k for the unblockage + he needs to stay hospitalized for 36-72 hrs, so it could be even more! This didn’t even include the surgery that he needs!!! I called the vet back, hysterically crying because where am I supposed to find all this money, and I’m panicking because they told me his bladder could burst any minute and he’s at risk of complications, so at this point I think I’m going to bury my baby today. So, the Dr told me to come back, and he would do the procedure himself, he charged me a very very reasonable price including the antibiotics I had to give him at home. Dr told me to call the next day and keep him posted about my baby and we would do the surgery on Tuesday. Today, Sunday, when they’re closed the receptionist called, and said that he would be able to squeeze my baby in tomorrow (Monday). She said the Dr told her to come in and give me a call, even though they’re closed. The unblockage, surgery, and meds here, are going to cost me a 1/4 of what they were quoting me at the ER. I can not even begin to explain how grateful I am that I was referred to this clinic, and how much I appreciate this doctor. Also, the receptionist girls and the doctors assistants are sooo sweet. Even though I’m moving to NJ, I’m only bringing my furchildren here from now on. I’m so fed up with vets experimenting on my kids for crazy money. (pic of my relieved baby on our way home after the initial procedure, i was so happy to see him feeling better after spending an entire morning panicking and crying:)) Thank you guys🩷🩷🩷

Welcome to Animal Clinic of Marine Park
For pet owners in the Marine Park area of Brooklyn, New York, seeking a dedicated and trustworthy "Pet Hospital Near Me," the Animal Clinic of Marine Park, located at 3616 Quentin Rd, Brooklyn, NY 11234, USA, presents itself as a highly recommended option. Reachable by phone at (718) 382-8100 or mobile at +1 718-382-8100, this clinic has garnered significant praise in online reviews for its compassionate care, knowledgeable staff, and commitment to providing affordable treatment, particularly under the guidance of Dr. Kopel.
One particularly compelling review recounts a life-saving experience involving the reviewer's cat. This detailed account offers substantial insight into the environment, services, and features of the Animal Clinic of Marine Park. The reviewer expresses immense gratitude to Dr. Kopel for accurately diagnosing and treating their cat after years of misdiagnosis by other veterinarians who attributed the cat's urinary issues to stress-induced cystitis, even prescribing Prozac. This immediately highlights Dr. Kopel's diagnostic acumen and willingness to look beyond surface-level symptoms to identify the underlying genetic condition affecting the cat's urethra.
The urgency of the situation was evident when the cat presented with an inability to urinate for 24 hours, accompanied by pain and cramping. Dr. Kopel promptly identified the need for an immediate unblocking procedure due to the cat's distended bladder. Although the clinic was initially unable to perform the procedure immediately, Dr. Kopel's concern for the animal's well-being was demonstrated by his referral to a nearby emergency room (ER) and the compassionate gesture of providing a carrier through his assistant, free of charge, as the owner was in the midst of moving and lacked immediate access to one. This act of kindness speaks volumes about the clinic's patient-centered approach.
The subsequent experience at the ER, where the estimated cost for the unblocking procedure and hospitalization ranged from $5,000 to $7,000, excluding the necessary surgery, left the pet owner in a state of panic and despair. Upon contacting Dr. Kopel in this distress, his response was remarkable. He instructed the owner to bring the cat back to his clinic, where he would perform the unblocking procedure himself at a "very very reasonable price," which included the cost of take-home antibiotics. This stark contrast in cost compared to the ER quote underscores the clinic's commitment to affordability, a significant feature highlighted in the review.
The level of care extended beyond the immediate procedure. Dr. Kopel instructed the owner to provide updates on the cat's condition, and a follow-up surgery to widen the urethra was scheduled for the following Tuesday. Demonstrating exceptional dedication, the receptionist called the owner on a Sunday, a day the clinic was closed, to inform them that Dr. Kopel would be able to "squeeze" the cat in for the surgery on Monday instead. This proactive communication and willingness to accommodate the pet's urgent needs, even outside of regular hours, further emphasizes the clinic's commitment to its patients.
The reviewer explicitly states that the total cost for the unblocking procedure, surgery, and medication at the Animal Clinic of Marine Park was going to be a "1/4 of what they were quoting me at the ER." This significant cost difference, coupled with the accurate diagnosis and timely intervention, left the pet owner profoundly grateful and determined to bring their "furchildren" to this clinic exclusively, even after moving to New Jersey. The reviewer's concluding remarks praise Dr. Kopel and his staff as "wonderful" and "very caring," ensuring that all questions are answered and pet owners are at ease during visits.
Based on these compelling testimonials, the environment of the Animal Clinic of Marine Park appears to be one characterized by compassion, care, and a genuine concern for the well-being of animals. The willingness of Dr. Kopel and his staff to go above and beyond for their patients suggests a supportive and empathetic atmosphere. While the physical appearance of the clinic is not detailed, the focus on patient care and affordability seems to be the defining characteristic of their environment.

Feb 24, 2025 · Yoav ShrikiI was fretting to take mrkitty to a vet because he never went because he was an outdoor cat 🐈 but now he stays in side and is comfortable with being a house Kitty .We took mrkitty to see the vet and he was very helpful. Found out mrkitty has asthma and gave him a shot. He also gave us some Frontline, he put mrkitty back in his crate and that was it. Very reasonable. We will definitely be taking mrkitty there for his needs.
