This is the place. No need to look further. I love my pets with all my heart. We have been clients of some of the fanciest-looking clinics in Denver, Houston, and Detroit simply due to location. At Alabaster Animal Clinic we have received the same, and often better, care, concern, support, effort, and education from Dr. Dan Kerins and Dr. Lisa Abbitt for our beloved cats and dogs. Thanks to their guidance and patience, our miniature Dachshund was able to live happily to the old age of 17 yrs 7 months. Weight management, healthy teeth and gums, and convenient appointments contributed to his well-being. No doubt that our new dog from the shelter will receive the same excellent care and understanding for his various breed traits. You will enjoy their willingness to speak plainly about conditions, treatments, and expected outcomes. You will never be spoken to in a condescending manner; no matter how often you annoy them with lists and endless questions. As busy as Dr. Dan is, he sincerely looks at every item on my checklists during appointments while kindly discussing each concern. You will never feel that something more could have been done or that a concern was overlooked for your pet. The pricing is fair and you won’t be paying for their overhead on a swanky building. It is a neat and tidy office, which always smells clean. Easy in. Easy out. Right on Hwy 31. Care Credit is accepted for financing. Very convenient hours beginning at 7am. If other major tests or specialists are necessary, then the BHM area has many options for those situations. Consider changing your pet’s healthcare provider, just as you would change your own for the better. If you don’t, it may truly be your loss. 🐕🐈🐈‍⬛🐩🦮🐕‍🦺

Dr Abbitt and her assistant were very compassionate and professional while helping me make the difficult decision to put down my sick 17 year old poodle. I’m very thankful for their patience and expert advice.

5/5 for vet himself | 3/5 for clinic as a whole Doc is great, but the RECEPTIONIST REFUSED TO REFILL MY Rx, SO NOW MY PUP MIGHT GET HEARTWORM! She says he's gotta be tested, but how was I supposed to remember an appointment I made a year ago? A reminder sure would've been nice! Despite that, THE VET IS GREAT! He's a very sweet older gentleman with a great bedside manner who really seems to care about you and your pet. He really takes his time explaining things and will answer as many questions as you have without seeming rushed: a rare quality in any type of doc/medical professional. When my senior pup Oscar tested + for heartworm, he was very thorough in explaining all options available for treatment. He was honest about the fact that heartworm treatment is very expensive and might not always be worth the expense for a senior dog. Unlike many vets, he didn't seem to try to pile on unnecessary tests/treatments to milk me for money. I did decide to switch vets to MAC in Calera since it's closer to where I live and the incident with my pup's prescription was irritating, but I still would recommend this vet.
