Welcome to Affordable Veterinary Clinic
Welcome to Affordable Veterinary Clinic, your local Pet Hospital situated at 304 E Columbia Ave, Belleville, MI 48111, USA. We aim to provide veterinary services for your pets, and it's important for prospective clients to be aware of the range of experiences reported by others.
One recent positive review describes a favorable initial encounter with a new veterinarian at the clinic. The client found the staff to be warm and friendly, appreciated the speed with which they were seen, and praised the veterinarian's personality, thoroughness, and clear communication style. This reviewer expressed trust in the vet's care for their pets and indicated their intention to return.
In contrast, another, more detailed review recounts a significantly negative experience concerning the diagnosis of a rescued Basset Hound mix. This former long-term client, who previously brought their dogs to the clinic while living in Ypsilanti, now recommends limiting visits to vaccinations and medication only. The core of their concern revolves around a suspected limp in their newly adopted dog, which they brought to the clinic for examination within a few weeks of adoption. Despite noting their concern about a potential limp on the paperwork, they were allegedly told it was just the "way basset hounds walk," and their concerns were dismissed.
Months later, after moving to Brighton, the owner sought a second opinion from a new veterinarian due to the persistent limp. This new vet identified an issue with the dog's elbows and, through X-rays, diagnosed damage to the growth plate that had occurred before adoption. This damage caused the ulna in one arm to grow improperly, affecting the elbow joint. The reviewer expresses regret that this issue was not caught by Affordable Veterinary Clinic during their initial visit. They believe that earlier detection might have allowed for corrective surgery while the dog was younger, potentially preventing the current situation where surgery is deemed too risky due to the advanced bone formation. The dog is now on daily medication, and the owner has been warned that arthritis will likely develop, eventually necessitating surgery.
This detailed negative review explicitly points to what the owner perceives as negligence in thoroughly investigating a reported issue, emphasizing the importance of always seeking a second opinion. The reviewer notes a visible difference in their dog's elbows as a consequence of the missed diagnosis.
Considering these two contrasting accounts, it appears that while Affordable Veterinary Clinic may have friendly staff and at least one thorough and communicative veterinarian, as highlighted in the positive review, there is also a concerning report of a potential misdiagnosis with significant implications for the pet's health. Prospective clients should weigh these different experiences when considering this clinic for their pet's care.
As a Pet Hospital, Affordable Veterinary Clinic likely offers a range of services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, general medical care, and potentially surgical procedures. The positive review suggests competence in basic care and communication, while the negative review raises concerns about diagnostic thoroughness in certain cases.
Neither review provides specific details about the clinic's environment beyond the staff being described as "warm and friendly" in one instance. Therefore, we cannot offer a detailed description of the clinic's physical environment based on the provided information.
Similarly, there is no mention of any specific promotional offers or goods for sale in the provided reviews. To inquire about any current promotions or the products available at Affordable Veterinary Clinic, please contact them directly at (734) 699-3800 or +1 734-699-3800.
In summary, Affordable Veterinary Clinic in Belleville, MI, is a Pet Hospital that has received both positive feedback regarding friendly staff and a seemingly thorough veterinarian, as well as a serious negative review detailing a potential diagnostic oversight with long-term consequences for a pet's health. When considering this clinic, it would be prudent to take both perspectives into account and perhaps seek further information or a second opinion when warranted for your pet's specific health concerns. Please contact the clinic directly for details on their services and any current promotions.

Feb 04, 2025 · CJ BetancourtI am over a year late, but figured I would share my experience and warn others. I would ONLY take my pets here for vaccines and meds, nothing else. I used to love them and took all my dogs here when living in Ypsi! In October 21, I rescued a Basset Hound mix and brought him here within the first 2-3weeks of getting him to make sure he was all good, get him his last round of vaccines etc. I swore he had a slight limp, and I asked them to check it out to see if he actually did or if it was my imagination. It was noted on my paperwork that I questioned this on my visit, but I was told it was “just how basset hounds walk” and so I trusted them and brushed it off as nothing. December 21 rolls around and I could very clearly tell he was limping slightly and scheduled a second opinion at a new vet in Brighton as I was moving out of Ypsi, but they could not get me in until late January. My new vet agreed he walked funny, could feel his elbows were not the same and took X-rays to come to the conclusion something was actually wrong. He had damage to his growth plate prior to his adoption, that caused his ulna in his one arm to keep growing, and not fuse together properly in his elbow joint.. If Affordable vet would have caught it, or at least did more than just look at him, we could have did the surgery while he was young enough to correct the issue before his bones were fully formed, but we caught it too late. Now his elbow is a jumbled mess, they do not want to do surgery and risk making it worse and having to amputate as he does not appear to be in pain, and is on daily medication. But at some point, we were warned arthritis will kick in and he will need surgery. All because of negligence in checking out an issue I asked about. Don’t 100% trust your vet. Always get a second opinion for your babies! You can very clear see his right elbow now bows out a lot more than his left.
Mar 06, 2023 · Natalie HaasWhen I had to have my dogs put to sleep without an appointment I called affordable veterinarian clinic in Belleville. They were able to accommodate me the same day in a timely manner . When I arrived the Great staff who were empathetic and caring came to my vehicle take care of them, they first give them a relaxing shot, then gave me time with them in the privacy of my own vehicle to say my final goodbyes they then came out and took care of what needed to be taken care of in a very professional, caring manner. When the time comes and I decide that it's time to get another dog they will be my veterinarian of choice. After all of a sudden done I received a sympathy card in the mail with all the staffs signatures. Made me feel very good.
Jun 06, 2018 · Tracy HarveySaw my pet as a new patient sick appointment on the same day! Diagnostics and pharmacy is available on-site. The building was clean, staff was friendly and efficient, and pricing was fair. Not my regular vet, but the service we received today is making me consider switching. Thank you, Dr. Dukes and staff!
May 21, 2024 · Sarah JordanWent in for my cats sores on his hind legs along his anxiety. The doctor did not say much. The male vet assistant was kind, and very helpful. The doctor said shed up my cats dose as his medicine seemed ineffective. Then she gave me a cream for his legs. But when i picked up the prescription it was just the same instructions & medication though she told me she would up the dose. Called a couple times, was told shed get back to me but she never did.
