Dr Dineen and her staff are efficient, effective and absolutely LOVELY to work with! I had my golden doodle Uriel spayed by Dr Dineen, and the process from start to finish could not have been easier. When I had a non-spaying question about the miniature dachshund we added to our family who appeared to have some eye abnormalities, Dr. Dineen allowed me to send her a picture and got back to me very quickly about what the situation was and the limitations of what could surgically be done. Thank you so much for your genuine, authentic concern, care, and devotion to this profession!

Welcome to Adoption First Veterinary Clinic

Adoption First Veterinary Clinic, located at 114 Enterprise St, Jacksonville, NC 28546, USA, is a reputable "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing comprehensive veterinary care for the local community. This clinic, as its name might suggest, appears to prioritize the well-being of pets, potentially with a focus on supporting adopted animals and fostering responsible pet ownership. The facility aims to offer a range of services and goods designed to meet the diverse health needs of companion animals.

Environment of Care

The environment at Adoption First Veterinary Clinic is consistently described by clients as positive, accommodating, and deeply compassionate. Reviews emphasize the staff's dedication to creating a low-stress experience for pets and their owners. The phrase "absolutely LOVELY to work with" speaks volumes about the welcoming and friendly atmosphere cultivated by Dr. Dineen and her team. This extends beyond mere politeness to a genuine concern for both the animals and the people who care for them.

A particularly notable aspect of their environment is their ability to handle pets with specific behavioral challenges. One client specifically highlighted their excellent care for a "fear reactive of strangers and other dogs" girl, stating that the staff "made sure to handle her and her needs super well" and "made it so we could get her in and out with minimal stress on her." This demonstrates a thoughtful and proactive approach to creating a calming environment, suggesting that the clinic may utilize specific techniques or have dedicated spaces to reduce anxiety for anxious or reactive pets. Such attention to individual pet temperaments fosters trust and comfort, making visits less daunting for both the animal and the owner. This empathetic and adaptable approach suggests a clinic environment where the emotional well-being of the animal is as important as their physical health.

Comprehensive Veterinary Services

As a "Pet Hospital," Adoption First Veterinary Clinic is expected to offer a broad spectrum of veterinary services to ensure the health and longevity of pets. While the reviews highlight specific instances of care, they strongly imply a comprehensive approach. Based on the provided information and general practices of a full-service veterinary clinic, their offerings likely include:

  • General Wellness and Preventive Care: This forms the cornerstone of pet health, encompassing routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations (e.g., rabies, distemper, parvovirus), parasite prevention and control (including heartworm, flea, and tick prevention), and nutritional counseling to maintain optimal health.

  • Spay and Neuter Procedures: The review specifically mentions that the client's "golden doodle Uriel spayed by Dr Dineen, and the process from start to finish could not have been easier." This indicates that spaying and neutering are routine and efficiently managed procedures at the clinic, contributing to population control and the long-term health of pets.

  • Diagnostic Services: The discussion about the miniature dachshund with "eye abnormalities" and Dr. Dineen's quick assessment based on a picture suggests a proactive approach to diagnostics, likely supported by in-clinic capabilities. This would include in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal analysis) and potentially imaging services like X-rays or ultrasound to accurately diagnose internal conditions or injuries.

  • Medical Consultations and Treatment: For a wide array of illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions, the clinic would provide thorough examinations, accurate diagnoses, and tailored treatment plans, including medication prescriptions and follow-up care.

  • Soft Tissue Surgery: Beyond spaying and neutering, it's reasonable to expect the clinic handles other common soft tissue surgeries as needed, ensuring comprehensive care for various ailments.

  • Dental Care: Oral health is crucial for pets. It is common for pet hospitals to offer professional dental cleanings, extractions, and guidance on at-home dental care.

  • Client Education and Communication: Dr. Dineen's willingness to quickly assess an eye abnormality via a picture and communicate limitations clearly demonstrates a strong commitment to client education and accessible communication, empowering pet owners to understand their pet's health status and treatment options.

  • Fear-Free or Low-Stress Handling Techniques: As evidenced by their success with a fear-reactive dog, the clinic likely employs specific handling techniques and creates an environment to minimize stress for anxious pets, which is a valuable service for many pet owners.

I got my dog poppy spayed here and Dr.Denine was wonderful . She even went above wand beyond and trimmed her nails and gave extra pain meds at no cost . My other dog Bella was also supposed to be spayed but she spoke with my primary vet and after going through records we decided that due to underlying conditions it was safer for her to be spayed in a clinic that was able to monitor her heart and things more closely while undergoing surgery . Highly recommend !

I can not stress enough that this place is a complete miracle. We had been trying to get our dog Gracie spayed for over 2 months with no appointments available at our Vet or any of the local Vets. We called Adoption First and they were able to get her scheduled quickly. The staff is great, friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable! A+ to them all! I didn't meet the Vet but spoke with her on the phone after the surgery. She was amazing, reassuring, and just awesome! I am truly impressed at what a great place this is and the work they do! They deserve every one of the five stars I gave them for what they did for our girl! Thank You!
