Stay away from this place. We had an emergency for one of our dogs. One of our dogs was randomly attacked by our other dogs. This is the only place that said they had an appointment at 3 o'clock. Upon arriving with a dog with serious injuries we had to wait until 4 o'clock to be seen. Once seen I was instructed that if money wasn't an issue they could fix my dog. I ask how much and they just said it would be lots of money. I told them I couldn't agree to anything if they were unwilling to give a price. They were hinting at tens of thousands of dollars which I didn't have. They told me you can put her down or sign her over if you can't afford it. So of course I didn't want her to be put down so they forced me into signing her over. After my wife got back from an overnight funeral. We wanted to call back and see how much the first surgery was so we could know if we could cover the cost and get her back. It was $500 not the tens of thousands they were alluding to. We asked if we could pay it and get her. The lady said no because she wasn't comfortable giving her back because she had a previous scar. We purchased that dog at 8 months old that had previous scarring. That's irrelevant to the situation. Now it will go to an attorney. Unless you want your dog to bleed out waiting for care don't go here. Unless you want to not get your dog back when they see you have a dog they want do not go here. They also didn't explain anything about how signing over a dog works to me. * The response to this is laughable. Workers stated in review I was given a price lol. No the whole response is a lie. On the surrender paper itself I wrote because no price given. Now that proves your liars. Also no believes your fake reviews you left 10 in a day.

Welcome to Adams County Veterinary Services - Dr. Dan Meakin
Adams County Veterinary Services, led by Dr. Dan Meakin, is a veterinary clinic located at 125 S Manchester St, West Union, OH 45693, USA. Operating under the phone number (937) 779-3032 and mobile contact +1 937-779-3032, this establishment functions as a **Pet Hospital** serving the West Union area and its surrounding communities. The clinic aims to provide a range of veterinary services, from routine check-ups to more complex medical interventions, for various animal companions.
The environment at Adams County Veterinary Services, based on available information, appears to be a mixed experience for clients. While some reviews emphasize a highly compassionate and caring atmosphere, others describe a more challenging and difficult interaction. The clinic itself is likely structured to handle a variety of animal health needs, with examination rooms, diagnostic equipment, and areas for treatment and recovery. A well-maintained and professional setting would be expected for a veterinary practice. The staff, including Dr. Meakin, are described by some as extremely dedicated and passionate about animal care, creating a welcoming and supportive environment where pets and their families feel valued. However, the conflicting reviews suggest that the experience can vary significantly, potentially influenced by individual staff interactions or the specific circumstances of the visit, particularly during high-stress emergency situations. While the intention is to provide a caring space, potential clients should be prepared for a range of interactions as reflected in diverse feedback.
Adams County Veterinary Services offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services. Their capabilities include **emergency care**, as indicated by the fact that they are sought out in urgent situations, even if wait times can be a concern. This implies they are equipped to handle critical injuries and sudden illnesses, providing immediate assessment and initial treatment. Their services extend to **surgical procedures**, a core offering for many pet hospitals, which would encompass anything from routine spays and neuters to more complex operations. The clinic also provides **diagnostic services**, which are essential for accurate health assessments and include blood work, imaging (such as X-rays), and other tests to identify underlying conditions. Beyond these, general veterinary care would typically include routine examinations, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and dental care. Notably, Dr. Dan Meakin himself has extensive experience, with a background in various surgical procedures and a long career in veterinary medicine, suggesting a wide range of expertise within the practice. The clinic's stated commitment is to provide comprehensive care for a variety of pets.
Key features of Adams County Veterinary Services, as gathered from the available information, highlight both strengths and areas of concern. A significant strength is the **high level of compassion and dedication** expressed by numerous clients towards Dr. Meakin and the staff. Reviewers consistently praise the "top notch care" and the "extremely compassionate" nature of the team, indicating a genuine commitment to animal well-being and a personalized approach to patient care. Dr. Meakin's extensive experience, with decades in veterinary practice and a background in performing numerous surgeries, is another valuable feature, suggesting a high degree of medical expertise available at the clinic. The clinic's capacity to handle emergencies is also a feature, providing a vital service to the community, although the reported wait times in urgent situations are a notable point of concern. However, a crucial aspect to consider, as highlighted by a negative review, is the potential for **issues with transparent pricing and communication**, particularly in emergency scenarios. The review describing being "forced into signing over" a dog due to vague and inflated cost estimates, followed by the revelation of a much lower actual cost, points to a severe breakdown in client communication and trust. This experience also brings into question policies regarding animal surrender and the clinic's comfort level with returning pets to owners. The contradictory narratives surrounding pricing, transparency, and the return of surrendered animals are significant and represent a critical feature that prospective clients should be aware of when considering this veterinary service.
Promotional information for Adams County Veterinary Services is largely driven by its online reputation, which presents a conflicting picture. On one hand, there are glowing testimonials that serve as powerful endorsements, emphasizing the "top notch care" and the profound level of compassion exhibited by Dr. Meakin and the entire staff. Clients express immense gratitude, thanking the clinic for "going the extra mile and exceeding our expectations" and for treating their pets "like you would your family." This overwhelmingly positive feedback from satisfied clients acts as a strong promotional tool, attracting those who prioritize empathetic and dedicated veterinary care. Such reviews highlight the clinic's success in building strong relationships with many pet owners and delivering effective medical outcomes. However, the presence of a severely negative review, alleging deceptive pricing, forced surrender of an animal, and refusal to return a pet, creates a stark contrast. While this specific review is vehemently disputed by what appears to be a response from the clinic, the very existence of such a claim, along with the detailed recounting of events, serves as a significant piece of information that would influence a potential client's perception. This negative account, accusing the clinic of being "liars" and questioning the authenticity of other reviews, introduces a level of caution. Therefore, while the clinic undoubtedly benefits from a strong base of highly satisfied customers, the presence of such a contentious and serious complaint means that its promotional narrative is not uniformly positive and may require potential clients to conduct their own due diligence or seek further clarification on policies, especially concerning emergencies and financial transparency, before committing to their services. The clinic's commitment to treating pets like family and providing excellent care is a strong selling point for many, but the conflicting accounts create a complex picture for those evaluating their options.

Mar 26, 2025 · Cheri RiceI have to say this has to be the best veterinarian I have ever come across. This vet is so caring and patient and calm. I recently had a small puppy with a broken leg and Dr Dan came to work just after having back surgery to fix my little furry friend. He should not have even come to work but when his office contacted him and sent him my puppy's xray he didn't hesitate to drive to work and help us while recovering from back surgery. He has helped me numerous times here in west union along with Anderson and all creatures. Thanks Dr Dan for being awesome and so caring. Hes also an amazing musician.

They get so excited to see all the staff here and receive the best treatment, advice and love from the staff. Love going here, would recommend it to anyone!
