Went in for urgent care services for my cat and they got us in right away, the private room they brought me to was nice (wizard of oz themed), and Dr Smith was very professional and compassionate. Provided realistic answers and expectations as well as keeping me in the loop every few hours. Thank you so very much to you and your staff for your care during a scary time

Welcome to Access Veterinary Care
For pet owners in Minneapolis, Minnesota, seeking a local "Pet Hospital," Access Veterinary Care is located at 6225 N 42nd Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55422, USA. They can be contacted at (763) 390-4050 or +1 763-390-4050. When considering this facility for your pet's health needs, it is crucial to take into account the diverse range of experiences reported by their customers.
One customer shared a positive experience regarding urgent care services for their cat. They reported being seen promptly and appreciated the "nice" private room, which had a "wizard of oz themed" decor. This suggests that Access Veterinary Care may offer private waiting areas, potentially designed with a comforting or unique aesthetic. The reviewer also commended Dr. Smith for being "very professional and compassionate," providing realistic information, setting expectations, and maintaining regular communication during a stressful time. This positive feedback indicates that some clients have experienced attentive and considerate care at this facility, particularly in urgent situations.
However, other reviews present serious and concerning allegations. One customer recounts a distressing experience involving a C-section performed on their dog, followed by a spay procedure allegedly done by Dr. Angelica without their consent or approval. This raises significant ethical and professional concerns regarding informed consent and the standard of care provided. The same reviewer also alleges negligence in the care of their dog and newborn puppies, stating that they were initially told four puppies had a heartbeat, but none survived, despite being full term and seemingly healthy after delivery. These are grave accusations that potential clients should be aware of.
Another review echoes the sentiment of irreversible harm caused by an allegedly unauthorized spay procedure on a "perfectly healthy 2 year old dog." This customer expresses a complete lack of trust and states they will never recommend or forgive the clinic, emphasizing the profound negative impact this experience had on their livelihood. They also express a strong belief that the puppies' survival and the dog's spay could have been avoided if they had sought care elsewhere, strongly advising others to "GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!"
Considering these contrasting experiences, it is difficult to provide a definitive characterization of the environment, services, and features of Access Veterinary Care. While one positive review highlights a themed private room and compassionate urgent care, the other reviews paint a picture of potential negligence, lack of communication, and unauthorized procedures. This discrepancy suggests that the quality of care and patient management may vary significantly.
In terms of services, the reviews indicate that Access Veterinary Care offers urgent care, C-sections, and spay procedures. However, the negative reviews raise serious questions about the circumstances and execution of surgical procedures, as well as the overall standard of patient care, particularly in critical situations like complicated births. The positive review suggests competence in urgent care and communication, but this is overshadowed by the severity of the allegations in the other feedback.
Features that might typically be highlighted for a "Pet Hospital" include experienced veterinarians, advanced medical equipment, a range of specialized services, and a commitment to patient well-being. While the positive review mentions a professional and compassionate doctor, the negative reviews directly contradict this, alleging negligence and a lack of respect for informed consent. Therefore, based on the currently available information, it is not possible to confidently identify positive features of Access Veterinary Care.
There is no information available regarding any promotional offers, discounts, or special programs that Access Veterinary Care might provide. Potential clients would need to contact the clinic directly to inquire about their pricing for various services and any potential cost-saving options.
In conclusion, for pet owners in Minneapolis, MN, searching for a "Pet Hospital," Access Veterinary Care at 6225 N 42nd Ave presents a complex picture based on the available online reviews. While one customer reported a positive experience with urgent care and appreciated the environment and doctor's demeanor, multiple other reviews contain serious allegations of negligence and unauthorized procedures that resulted in significant harm and distress. Potential clients must carefully consider this conflicting feedback and may want to seek further information or explore alternative veterinary care providers in the area before making a decision regarding Access Veterinary Care.

Mar 28, 2025 · Thomas MilesDo not go here! We had a c-section on our dog and Dr Angelica performed a spay procedure on our female dog WITHOUT OUR CONSENT OR APPROVAL!! They are negligent in their care also as we were told 4 puppies were born with a heartbeat and NONE of them survived. The puppies were full term and proved to be healthy after delivery. They ruined our livelihood by performing an irreversible procedure on our perfectly healthy 2 year old dog and we will never recommend them nor forgive them. We truly believe 3 of the 4 puppies would still be alive and our dog would have never been spayed had we went somewhere else. Do not make the same mistake we did and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
Jan 10, 2025 · Cordero PhillipsAccess veterinary care is my favorite facility for Veterinary medicine. I have been to 4 different facilities and Access for me will always be the one that got away. (Access Staff: If you know, you know. It’s okay to laugh about it now). Everyone always compares Access to Mission Animal Hospital, and while I can’t express enough the professionalism and excellent work they both do, Access will always hold a special place in my heart. In my experience they are the most caring and professional group of people I have ever met. I truly trust everyone there with my pets wholeheartedly. They are amazing for urgent care, and I have never felt quite the connection and level of compassion that Access gives compared to most clinics around. Truly if your pet needs help, this clinic is top.
Mar 19, 2024 · Hailey GuzmánAbout a month ago I had to bring one of my cats into urgent care for a UTI. She was well taken care of and they were so thorough and wonderful. We had to make the difficult decision to put our other cat Thomas down and we chose to come here because of our wonderful experience with our female cat. I am so glad that we chose the end of life service at Access. They were so kind, compassionate and treated our cat with dignity in his last minutes here. He had a comfortable and painless experience in his last moments with us and I am so grateful for the care they gave us. We will definitely continue to bring our female cat here. Thank you again for all you do.
Dec 03, 2023 · Jenny SchmidtThanks to Access, this is the first time I have EVER been able to leave a vet appointment not in tears due to a bad experience with my reactive/anxious dog. They were AMAZING with my dog, who does not tolerate appointments or being handled by strangers. They quickly assessed the difficult situation and made adjustments and modifications so that the appointment would work for us. They also saw that my dog’s pre-appointment anxiety meds regimen clearly wasn’t working, and got her on a new one for next time. I love their a-la-carte preventative care process. It is affordable and easy. Staff were all amazing and understanding. The receptionist, vet tech, and Dr. Frahm-Gilles didn’t make me feel bad or guilty for my dog’s behavioral issues. If you are looking for a place to get care for a reactive or anxious dog, this is the place!!!
