I have been going to 70 West vet for quite some time now. They have treated me and my pets amazingly as family. The passion from Dr. Ward and the vet techs is amazing. I recently had to put my best friend to rest and the whole time Dr. Ward and his crew gave me and my family the most comforting experience with such empathy. The day after I received flowers from the kindness of Dr. Ward and his techs and I cannot describe how thankful I am for them. If you were to bring your fur babies here just know they will be greatly loved and taken care of.

  • General Wellness and Preventive Care: This forms the foundation of their practice, including routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccination protocols (for common canine and feline diseases), comprehensive parasite prevention (heartworm, fleas, ticks, intestinal worms), and nutritional counseling to support overall health and longevity.

  • Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose various conditions, the hospital would be equipped with in-house laboratory capabilities for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal analysis. All surgical procedures would typically be supported by pre-surgical blood screening, comprehensive anesthetic monitoring, and post-operative pain management.

  • Internal Medicine: Diagnosis and management of various internal diseases affecting organ systems such as the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, endocrine system (e.g., diabetes), and urinary system.

  • Pain Management: Providing effective strategies for managing acute and chronic pain, whether from injury, illness, or post-surgical recovery.

  • Geriatric Pet Care: The testimonials emphasize their long-term care for elderly pets, indicating a specialized focus on the unique health challenges of senior animals, including managing chronic conditions and ensuring comfort in their later years.

The defining feature of 70 West Veterinary Hospital is the unparalleled level of compassion and the profound "family-like" treatment extended to both pets and their owners. The testimonials repeatedly use phrases like "treated me and my pets amazingly as family," "love and care they showed," and "treat us like family." This human-centric approach, combined with expert medical care, sets them apart. The staff's willingness to go "above and beyond" during difficult times, such as the loss of two beloved pets, exemplifies their dedication. The specific mention of receiving flowers after a pet's passing is a powerful testament to their empathy and commitment to client support, turning a devastating experience into one handled with utmost dignity and care. The continuity of care, with clients entrusting "any future pet" to their office, speaks volumes about the trust and loyalty they inspire. The individual recognition of staff members like Ashley, Julie, Michael, and Morgan alongside Dr. Ward further reinforces the idea of a cohesive and caring team.

Dr. Ward, Ashley, Julie, Michael, Morgan and the rest of the staff are absolutely outstanding, compassionate, caring and go above and beyond to take care of your furry family members and you. We lost two of our babies in three weeks. The compassion they showed us was more than we could ever expect. They treat us like family. There’s no better veterinarian practice around!

70 West veterinary hospital have been taking care of all my pets(7) the first day I got here to NC in 1998. I will never entrust my babies to no others than Dr. Jeff any his staff. The care, love and compassion they show my babies is unmatchable. And also they are very affordable. Love them.

We feel very lucky and fortunate to have found Dr. Jeff. We have been bringing our dogs, now Sam and Chewy, to him for several years because we trust in his care for them. Additionally, my sister brings her dog, Tristan, there. We treat our dogs as if they were humans, they are our children and our close friends. We love all animals and we treat all of them with the same care that parents should treat their children. When we moved to New Bern, we asked for recommendations for where we should bring our dogs to when they are sick. A neighbor recommended Dr. Jeff. Naturally, at first we were nervous but when we got there the receptionist started making us feel better and during that first visit, we were immediately impressed with Dr. Jeff. He has a very friendly personality and a wide array of solid knowledge when it came to dogs. It’s now been several years since we first brought our dogs to him and while I am sad when I drop one of our dogs off to get looked at, I know that they will be treated very well by everyone who works there. As a FYI, there is sometimes a wait to see him. But the wait is well worth it. With all of this having been said, I recommend Dr. Jeff and his staff to you for any help your animals may need.
