Nice dog park. Warning they will remove your dog if others do not like you and file false complaints. My dog was removed after three false complaints. The owners of the dogs had no proof but I had all kinds of positive proof that my dog was well behaved. He was an XL puppy. They would not look at my proof or my letters of reference. The city of woodhaven are rude people.

WOOFhaven Dog Park, nestled in Woodhaven, provides just such an environment. This members-only facility offers a controlled and enriching experience designed with the well-being of dogs and the peace of mind of their owners in mind.
WOOFhaven Dog Park is more than just an open field; it's a carefully managed space intended to foster positive interactions among dogs and their human companions. While it operates on a membership basis, ensuring a commitment to responsible pet ownership, it offers valuable amenities that contribute to a rewarding experience. The park aims to provide a secure and clean setting where dogs can expend energy, practice their social skills, and enjoy the freedom of off-leash play.
It's important for prospective visitors to understand the park's operational model, including its membership requirements and specific rules, which are in place to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all. While some past user experiences highlight the strict enforcement of rules, this commitment to a structured environment often translates to a more controlled and potentially safer setting for many dogs. Understanding and adhering to these guidelines are key to a successful visit to WOOFhaven Dog Park.
WOOFhaven Dog Park is conveniently located at 23101 Hall Rd, Woodhaven, MI 48183, USA. This address places it squarely within Civic Center Park, making it a central and easily identifiable destination for residents of Woodhaven and Trenton. Its position on Hall Road, a major thoroughfare, ensures straightforward access for those traveling from various parts of Downriver Michigan.
As a membership-required dog park, access is controlled, which contributes to maintaining its facilities and ensuring that all visiting dogs meet specific health and safety requirements. The park operates year-round, typically from 8 AM to sunset, with specific electronic gate hours from 8 AM to 6:30 PM from November to February and 8 AM to 8 PM from March to October. It's important to note that the park usually closes on Wednesdays from 8 AM to 11 AM for maintenance, ensuring the grounds remain in top condition.
Free parking is available nearby, making it convenient for members to bring their dogs to the park without the added stress of finding a parking spot. The controlled access and clear operational hours underscore the park’s commitment to providing a structured and well-managed environment for canine recreation.
WOOFhaven Dog Park provides a focused set of services and amenities, primarily centered around creating a safe and enjoyable off-leash environment for dogs. These offerings are designed to cater to the needs of both the pets and their owners.
- Membership-Based Access: The park operates on a membership system, which requires registration through the City of Woodhaven Clerk's Office. This ensures that all dogs entering the park are licensed and have up-to-date vaccinations (including Rabies, DHLPP/DAPP, and Bordetella), contributing to the health and safety of all park users. Memberships are primarily available to residents of Woodhaven and Trenton.
- Separate Off-Leash Areas: WOOFhaven features designated, fully fenced areas for different dog sizes. There is a section for small dogs (typically under 25 pounds) and a larger area for all dogs, ensuring that canines of various sizes can play comfortably and safely with appropriate companions. One review even mentions an ADA accessible section, though this detail should be verified with the city directly.
- Water Fountains and Bowls: To ensure dogs stay hydrated during their active play, the park is equipped with water fountains and often has community water bowls available, especially during warmer months.
- Shaded Seating Areas: For the comfort of human companions, the park provides shaded seating areas where owners can relax and observe their dogs.
- Waste Management: The park provides ample trash receptacles and encourages responsible pet ownership by having waste disposal bags available (though bringing your own is always recommended). The commitment to cleanliness is evident and frequently praised.
- Double-Gated Entrance: For enhanced security, the park utilizes a double-gated entry system, preventing accidental escapes when dogs and owners enter and exit.
- Dog-Friendly Trail: Beyond the main off-leash areas, some information suggests the park is part of a larger Civic Center Park that may offer dog-friendly trails, providing opportunities for on-leash walks before or after off-leash play.
WOOFhaven Dog Park distinguishes itself with several key features that contribute to its value for local dog owners:
- Spacious, Fully Fenced Area: The park spans nearly 4 acres of fully fenced space, offering ample room for dogs to run, play, and explore freely without concern for wandering off. This expansive area allows for energetic exercise.
- Controlled Access with Key Fob System: Entry into the park is controlled by a keyless electronic system (key fob), which is issued to registered members. This system helps manage park usage, ensuring only authorized and compliant dogs and owners are present.
- Emphasis on Dog Health and Safety: The strict membership requirements, including proof of current vaccinations and city dog licenses, demonstrate the park's commitment to maintaining a healthy environment and preventing the spread of diseases. This proactive approach benefits all regular users.
- Community of Responsible Owners: While not always explicitly stated as a feature, the membership model tends to attract a community of dog owners who are generally more committed to responsible pet care and adherence to park rules, which can foster a more harmonious environment.
- Picnic Tables and Benches: For the comfort of owners, picnic tables and benches are scattered throughout the park, providing places to rest and observe their dogs.
- Obstacles and Play Equipment: Some sources indicate the presence of fun obstacles, though specific details vary. These can add an extra element of engagement and enrichment for dogs during their playtime.
As a membership-required facility, WOOFhaven Dog Park's primary "offer" is access to its well-maintained grounds. The annual membership fees are structured to be more affordable for residents of Woodhaven and Trenton, reflecting the park's local focus.
- Resident Discount: The annual fee for Woodhaven and Trenton residents is $25.00 for the first dog, with an additional $5.00 charge for each subsequent dog, up to a limit of two dogs per adult per visit. This significantly reduces the cost for local residents compared to potential non-resident fees (though current availability for non-residents should be confirmed with the City Clerk's office).
- Annual Pass System: Memberships are annual, covering from January to December of each year. This provides consistent access for a single yearly fee, encouraging regular use of the park.
- Community Events (Potential): While the park itself doesn't typically run promotions in the traditional sense, the City of Woodhaven Recreation Department or Animal Control might occasionally host pet-related community events or workshops in the broader Civic Center Park area. It's always advisable for local residents to check the City of Woodhaven's official website or their recreation department's calendar for any such special occasions that might involve the dog park or general pet well-being. These events can sometimes offer unique engagement opportunities or information on pet care.
It is important to note that the membership fees are generally not prorated, meaning the annual fee applies regardless of when in the year the membership is purchased. Key fob replacements may also incur a fee.

Ultimately, WOOFhaven Dog Park offers a much-needed, high-quality off-leash space that prioritizes the well-being and enjoyment of local dogs and their owners. For those living within the eligible areas, it represents a valuable investment in their pet's health, happiness, and social development, making it an indispensable part of the local pet-friendly landscape in Michigan.

Jan 22, 2020 · Jody-lynn JanisseSurrounding cities that do not have a dog park, should be able to get access to this dog park. In a way feels like, it’s my fault I don’t live in woodhaven or Trenton and now my dog suffers. Too bad as well because this is a nice area.
Apr 22, 2022 · Paladin TenVery nice dog park. I would suggest lighting the park at night during the fall, winter and early spring. It gets dark very early and using the facility in early evening and early morning is not possible. The rink and snow hill is lighted all night.
Oct 28, 2019 · Robert MillerNot as crowded as when I used to belong before Woodhaven narrowed the cities able to join the park. If you want to meet people with dogs and have your pup play with others, it’s not as good as it used to be. If you’re just looking for a great place to let your dog run, it’s an excellent choice. Check with the city offices to see if your town has an agreement with Woodhaven. Reasonably priced anual membership.
