One of the better maintained dog parks I've been to. Some people clearly forgot to pick up after their dogs, but that happens. And it's well fenced and had enough space to let a dog really run, which is all I ask for. There's plenty of toys and obstacles for the dogs, too

Welcome to Veterans Memorial Dog Park

For dog owners across Connecticut, finding a dedicated and well-equipped space where their furry companions can run, play, and socialize freely is a cherished amenity. Veterans Memorial Dog Park in West Haven, CT, stands as a well-known local option, offering a designated off-leash environment for canine enjoyment. This park aims to provide a space where dogs can expend energy, interact with peers, and enjoy outdoor activity, contributing to the well-being of pets and their owners in the community.

Veterans Memorial Dog Park is designed with practicality in mind, featuring separate areas to accommodate dogs of different sizes. This segregation is a common and appreciated feature in dog parks, allowing for safer interactions and more comfortable play experiences for both smaller and larger canines. The park is "well fenced," providing a secure perimeter that allows dogs to roam off-leash with a degree of freedom, a key factor for many dog owners seeking a dedicated park space. This secure environment is essential for peace of mind, enabling dogs to truly run and play without constant concern for their boundaries.

Beyond just space, the park strives to offer engaging features for its canine visitors. Reviews indicate that there are "plenty of toys and obstacles for the dogs," which can include various structures for climbing, jumping, or navigating. It’s really a shame that people don’t keep up after themselves or their dogs. I went this morning with a small dog. The park was filthy. There was dog feces everywhere the small dog park wasn’t kept up and maintained the grass was long garbage was everywhere. It’s a shame. It’s a nice park but the city needs to keep up on the park and when I arrived, there were two huge pit bulls in the small dog park which I had to wait to use it ! The city needs to clean it up and oversee how it’s used
