Literally the biggest dog park I have ever been to. There are always other dogs for Pumpkin (our dog) to play with. A walking path goes around and through the park. There are 2 smaller, separated areas for dogs as well. Well maintained and bags readily available.

The Boneyard at Reliance Park stands out as a jewel in Erie's park system, providing a vital community resource for dog owners. Its design caters to a variety of canine needs, from high-energy breeds needing vast open spaces to more reserved pups who might prefer a quieter, smaller section. The park’s commitment to cleanliness and visitor comfort is evident in its well-maintained grounds and readily available supplies. It fosters a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, making it easy for both dogs and their owners to connect and build community. Whether you're a long-time Erie resident or just visiting the area, The Boneyard offers a fantastic opportunity to see why this dog park is consistently described as one of the biggest and best in the region, providing an ideal setting for quality time with your beloved pet amidst Colorado's beautiful scenery.

The Boneyard at Reliance Park is conveniently located at 900 County Rd 1 1/2, Erie, CO 80516, USA. This address places it within Reliance Park, a larger municipal park managed by the Town of Erie, ensuring good infrastructure and accessibility. For local users in Erie and surrounding communities like Lafayette, Longmont, and Broomfield, the park is easily reachable by car. Ample parking is available within Reliance Park, making arrival and departure straightforward, even during peak hours. What enhances its accessibility for many local users is its integration within a broader park system that often includes walking trails. While The Boneyard itself is primarily a dedicated off-leash area, its location within Reliance Park means visitors can combine a dog park visit with other recreational activities, such as using the nearby walking paths or playgrounds. This multi-use park environment makes it a versatile destination for families and individuals alike. The direct access from County Road 1 1/2 ensures a smooth journey to this expansive canine haven, allowing more time for play and less time navigating complicated routes.

The Boneyard at Reliance Park, as a comprehensive municipal dog park, offers several key services and amenities that enhance the experience for both dogs and their owners. These provisions contribute to its reputation as a well-equipped and user-friendly facility:

  • Expansive Off-Leash Play Areas: The primary service is providing a vast, fully fenced space where dogs can run freely without a leash. This massive area allows for extensive exercise and group play.
  • Separated Small Dog Area: For the safety and comfort of smaller or more timid dogs, The Boneyard includes at least two smaller, separate fenced areas. This allows for tailored play environments and reduces potential stress for diminutive canines.
  • Walking Path Around and Through the Park: A designated walking path encircles and traverses the main off-leash area. This is a great feature for owners who want to get some exercise while their dogs play or for those who prefer to keep their dogs moving along a defined route.
  • Water Availability for Pups: The park provides water dishes and access to dog drinking water, which is essential for keeping dogs hydrated, especially during active play and warmer weather. This thoughtful amenity saves owners from having to carry large water supplies.
  • Waste Bag Stations: To maintain cleanliness, dog waste bags are readily available throughout the park. This crucial provision encourages responsible pet ownership and helps keep the park pristine.
  • Shade Structures/Natural Shade: There are some areas with natural shade from trees and potentially shade structures, offering respite from the Colorado sun for both dogs and their human companions.
  • Trash Receptacles: Numerous trash cans are strategically placed throughout the park for convenient disposal of dog waste and other refuse, contributing to the park's excellent maintenance.

The Boneyard at Reliance Park stands out for several impressive features and highlights that make it a favorite among Colorado dog owners, particularly those in the Erie area:

  • Massive Size: Consistently described as "literally the biggest dog park I have ever been to," its immense size is its most striking feature. This vastness provides unparalleled room for dogs to run at full speed, play elaborate games of fetch, and engage in extensive exploration, making it ideal for even the most energetic breeds.
  • Diverse Terrain: Unlike parks that are just gravel or dirt, The Boneyard boasts "grass/foliage and not just gravel." This more natural and varied terrain is softer on paws, more visually appealing, and provides different textures and scents for dogs to explore, enhancing their sensory experience.
  • Separate Play Areas: The inclusion of "2 smaller, separated areas for dogs" is a significant highlight. This thoughtful design caters to the needs of smaller, older, or more timid dogs, providing a safe haven away from larger or more boisterous play.
  • Consistent Dog Population: Visitors note that "there are always other dogs for Pumpkin (our dog) to play with." This consistent presence of other dogs ensures ample socialization opportunities, which is crucial for canine development and enjoyment.
  • Well-Maintained and Clean: Reviews frequently praise the park for being "well maintained" and for having "bags readily available." This commitment to upkeep and cleanliness makes for a pleasant and hygienic environment for all users.
  • Shade and Water Amenities: The presence of "some shade and water dishes around" directly addresses essential needs for comfort and hydration, especially important during Colorado's sunny days.
  • Integrated Walking Path: The "walking path goes around and through the park" allows human companions to get their steps in while supervising their off-leash pets, providing a dual benefit for fitness and enjoyment.

As a public municipal park, The Boneyard at Reliance Park primarily offers its extensive facilities as a free amenity to the community, rather than engaging in commercial "promotions or special offers" in the traditional retail sense. However, the Town of Erie Parks & Recreation department often hosts community events within its parks, and The Boneyard, being a prominent feature of Reliance Park, is sometimes the venue for dog-centric special occasions. For instance, the annual "Tails & Ales" event, which features food trucks, live entertainment, pet-related vendors, and a beer garden, often takes place at The Boneyard. While admission to such events is typically free, food and beverages are available for purchase. These events can be seen as "special offers" in the sense that they provide unique, added value experiences beyond the park's everyday use, fostering community and celebrating pet ownership. To stay informed about any upcoming events, such as dog-themed festivals, adoption drives, or maintenance closures (which happen monthly on the fourth Wednesday from April-October, either half-day or full-day), it is highly recommended to check the official Town of Erie Parks & Recreation website or social media channels. These provide the most current information on special activities that enhance the park experience.

In conclusion, The Boneyard at Reliance Park is an exceptionally suitable and highly recommended destination for locals in Colorado, particularly those in the Erie and surrounding Boulder County areas. Furthermore, the presence of a consistently friendly community of dog owners fosters positive social interactions for both pets and their humans. The availability of shade and water features addresses practical needs, enhancing comfort during visits. Whether your dog loves to sprint across vast fields, engage in playful wrestling with new friends, or simply enjoy a sniff-filled walk on a winding path, The Boneyard offers it all. It's more than just a place for dogs to run; it's a vital community hub that embodies Colorado's active and pet-friendly lifestyle, making it an indispensable resource for local dog owners.

Really nice, big dog park. Love that it has grass/foliage and not just gravel. There's some shade and water dishes around. However our dog decided to dump the water and create a mud pit and roll in it so, use caution haha

Love this dog park! There are three separate sections that are ample enough to roam around. A few agility setups placed in one of the sections. The small dog section has a few benches to sit and one of them is shaded. The dogs are always happy here.

Huge dog park! Great group of dogs every time we go.. And the parents are so nice and friendly. This park has two separate small dog areas for any shy or timid pups. I highly recommend this park. We travel from Longmont to the Boneyard that's how great this park is. ❤️
