This place is awesome to bring your pooches. It has a huge yard with separate spaces for big and little dogs. This place also has water fountains for the pups. Only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is because there is red ants everywhere. I was here for not even 2 minutes and I got bit over 13 times... Be very careful where you’re walking and you’ll be fine.

Natural Environment: While a positive, one specific natural highlight and consideration to note is the presence of red ants, as mentioned by a past visitor. This is a common occurrence in natural, grassy areas throughout Florida, and while the park is well-maintained, it’s a reminder for visitors to be aware of their surroundings. Wearing appropriate footwear and being mindful of where you stand can help mitigate this minor issue.
As a public park operated by Polk County, the Dog Park at Simmers-Young Park does not typically offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a private business might. The primary "offer" is the free and open access it provides to residents and visitors who wish to utilize its facilities for their dogs.
However, it’s important for locals to stay informed about any community-driven events or initiatives that might occur within the broader Simmers-Young Park, which could indirectly relate to the dog park. For instance, Polk County Parks and Recreation might host pet-related awareness days, vaccination clinics, or community clean-up events. These would be publicized through official Polk County channels, such as their website, social media, or local community calendars. While the dog park itself is a consistent, free amenity, keeping an eye on broader park announcements can occasionally reveal opportunities for enhanced pet-friendly experiences or valuable services within the park complex. Furthermore, the park is part of a larger sports complex that can be rented for parties or events, which might occasionally involve the use of some fields, but the dog park remains a public amenity.

Sep 21, 2020 · Kayla PascavageNice park, not difficult to find from US17N. Nice location, have several fields to play game and also a section that can be rented for parties.
Apr 03, 2021 · Djenane FevrierReally good sized dog park. Water fountain and bowls are available for the dogs. There are two sections, one for 25 lbs+, and under 25lbs. Really friendly people.
Jul 19, 2017 · Andrew MontgomeryMe, the kiddos and the doggy frequent this park. The kids love the playground and it's always very clean and occasions we cook as there are pavilions and grilles for park goers. Nice spot for the fam, and for me it's only a few minutes away which is nice.
Mar 04, 2024 · Will ShiversBig open fenced-in area with one side for larger dogs and the other for smaller dogs (under 25 lbs). I have a 6lb chihuahua and 8 lbs dachshund that loved it. My 11 yr old and 2 yr old boys loved chasing them around. There was a water fountain, a couple benches, and a ramp thing. Other than that, the tube they can run through was ripped up so bring some toys for your pup to play with. The only thing that really made me nervous was the gaps where the gates are on 3 sides of the field. I worried about my chihuahua getting through but I managed to keep her away from those areas.
