The park has a fence. But it is not a dog park. There is an asphalt trail with a couple of benches. The perimeter is not entirely fenced in which means the dog could walk onto the road or into the wooded area. There is a trash bin, but no doggy bags. There is a fountain where people can drink but not anything for dogs. There is a covered barbecue area with some benches. A few trees some nice grass. If your dog is good off leash, this might be OK but I wouldn't call it a dog park.

Welcome to Pitcher Dog Park

For dog owners across Missouri, and particularly within the historic city of Independence, finding a suitable outdoor space for their furry companions to exercise and enjoy fresh air is always a priority. Pitcher Dog Park, located in Independence, MO, is a public green space that welcomes dogs, offering a place for them to accompany their human companions on walks and enjoy the outdoors. It's important to understand the nature of this park: while it's a "dog park" in name, it functions more as a general park where dogs are permitted and encouraged, rather than a traditional, fully-fenced off-leash dog run. This distinction is crucial for local dog owners to note, ensuring their expectations align with the park's actual features. For those with well-behaved dogs accustomed to off-leash commands, or simply seeking a pleasant walk with their leashed pet, Pitcher Dog Park offers a convenient local option for getting out and about in Independence.

It's a park that allows dogs. There is no fenced in area and people drive by pretty fast. There is a fence between the road and park, but its not closed off. Has a small paved loop. There are trails through the woods but it looks like people live there and/or dump trash.

It's a small park with an historic cemetery on site. A couple of picnic tables and a few benches. Has a walk around track (small). I enjoy taking my dog there for quick walks. Homeless have strong presence but seem safe. I've never had a problem.

Not fenced in, lots of homeless people, awfully shady

Trash everywhere and a lot of homeless with no proper fence. Would have been ok looking spot except the trash is all food, cigarettes, and alcohol: unsafe for dogs. Find a different place
