most all the dog owners Monday through Friday take great responsibility for their animals and everyone is very friendly. The only time I’ve ever had issues going to this park after taking my dogs here for almost a year is that the weekend crowd can be a little bit shady. The regulars that go there bring toys and encourage their dogs to be kind and playful with others but occasionally on the weekend you can get somebody that wants their dog to be aggressive or they just don’t take responsibility for them. I will say in the large dog area that the grass is dying so they do need to open up the sprinklers and water a little bit more but other than that, there’s always a lot of dogs at this park, especially between the hours of nine AM and 12 or later on in the Evening

Services Offered

Mountains Edge Dog Park, as a popular public facility within the City of Las Vegas/Clark County Parks system, offers a range of services and amenities designed for an optimal off-leash experience for dogs and their owners.

  • Multiple Fenced Off-Leash Areas: A key service is providing secure, fully fenced enclosures where dogs can run and play freely without a leash. Notably, the park features three distinct sections: one for small dogs, one for large dogs, and an additional area for "all dogs" at the owner's discretion, promoting safe and comfortable interactions for various sizes and temperaments.
  • Large Grass Areas: The park boasts expansive grassy areas within its enclosures. This provides a soft, natural, and comfortable surface for dogs to play on, which is often preferred over dirt or gravel. While grass maintenance can be a challenge in the desert climate, it remains a significant feature.
  • Water Fountains for Dogs: Crucial for hydration in the Nevada heat, the park provides access to drinking water for dogs, typically through dedicated dog-friendly water fountains.
  • Dog Waste Stations: To promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership, the park is equipped with waste bag dispensers and trash receptacles, making it convenient for owners to clean up after their pets.
  • Seating for Owners: Benches and other seating options are available within the dog park areas, allowing human companions to relax and comfortably supervise their dogs during playtime.
  • Memorial Wall of Bricks: A unique and touching service is the presence of a memorial wall where owners can purchase bricks to commemorate beloved pets who have passed on. This adds a heartfelt community element to the park.
  • Integrated within Nathaniel Jones Park: While not a direct service of the dog park itself, its location within Nathaniel Jones Park means visitors have access to additional amenities like a playground, splash pad (for kids), lighted basketball court, and walking trails, enhancing the overall family outing experience.
Features / Highlights

Mountains Edge Dog Park is highly regarded by local dog owners for several outstanding features and highlights that set it apart:

  • Three Distinct Play Areas: The park’s division into separate fenced sections for small dogs, large dogs, and an "all dogs" area is a major highlight. This thoughtful layout ensures that dogs of different sizes and energy levels can play safely and comfortably, reducing potential conflicts.
  • Spacious Grassy Sections: The presence of large grassy areas is a significant draw, offering a softer and more natural playing surface for dogs compared to many other parks in the arid climate. While maintenance can be a challenge, the commitment to providing grass is appreciated.
  • Community Atmosphere and Regulars: As noted by local users, the park benefits from a strong community of responsible and friendly dog owners, especially during weekday visits. This fosters positive social interactions for both dogs and their humans.
  • Memorial Wall: The memorial wall with personalized bricks is a unique and touching feature that adds a profound sense of community and remembrance, allowing owners to honor their beloved departed pets within a cherished local space.
  • Ample Amenities: With water fountains, waste stations, and plenty of seating, the park is well-equipped to provide a comfortable and convenient experience for visitors.
  • Located within Nathaniel Jones Park: This integration means access to additional park amenities like a splash pad (for children) and a playground, making it a versatile destination for families.
  • Popularity and High Dog Traffic: The fact that there are "always a lot of dogs at this park" indicates its popularity and provides consistent opportunities for canine socialization, especially during peak hours (9 AM - 12 PM and evenings).
Promotions or Special Offers

As a public amenity operated by Clark County Parks and Recreation within the Mountains Edge master-planned community, Mountains Edge Dog Park does not typically offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the retail sense. Its primary and ongoing "offer" to the community is providing a free, accessible, and well-maintained public space for off-leash dog activity.

However, the Mountains Edge Master Association or Clark County Parks and Recreation occasionally organizes or supports broader community initiatives that can be considered valuable "special offers" for local pet owners. These might include:

  • Free Access: The most significant ongoing "promotion" is that usage of Mountains Edge Dog Park is completely free for all visitors, providing an invaluable public service to dog owners.
  • Community Pet Events: The Mountains Edge community is known for its events, and sometimes these include pet-friendly festivals or gatherings. For instance, the "Annual Family, Fur, & Fun Festival" mentioned in community information suggests such opportunities. These events often provide free entertainment, educational opportunities, and foster community engagement.
  • Memorial Brick Program: While not a "promotion," the opportunity to purchase a memorial brick for the tribute wall is a unique offer for residents to honor their pets and contribute to the park's upkeep.
  • Wellness or Educational Programs: From time to time, partnerships with local animal shelters or veterinary clinics might lead to free or low-cost vaccination clinics, microchipping events, or dog training demonstrations within community parks.

To stay informed about any potential future events, programs, or important announcements specifically related to Mountains Edge Dog Park or other public amenities in the community, local residents are encouraged to:

We love it here. 3 different runs to keep dogs of the same stature together. They also have nice trails and sidewalks to walk around. A memorial wall of bricks also pays tribute to our fur babies whom have passed on.

I go here because it's close to my home. The regulars in the morning are great for the most part, but as always, stay aware of your surroundings (humans and dogs included). It is a public space, so things do happen (confrontations between dogs or with other owners). I stopped going in the evening because it's not worth dealing with people who don't watch their dogs and let them do whatever/don't pick up after them. Definitely had to jump between dogs during dog fights because the owners weren't doing anything, which can get dangerous. HOA loves to shut off the water every now and then, so the park is sometimes waterless at the most pivotal times of the year to have water. Regardless, my dog loves to play, and he loves other dogs, so I'll keep coming.
