Jewell Dog Park provides essential services and amenities focused on creating a safe and functional environment for off-leash dog play:
-
Fully Fenced Off-Leash Areas: The park features fully fenced enclosures, allowing dogs to roam freely and safely without a leash. This is a primary draw for responsible dog owners who prioritize secure play.
-
Separate Large and Small Dog Areas: To facilitate appropriate interactions and ensure safety, the park is separated into distinct areas for big and small dogs. This allows pets of similar sizes and play styles to interact comfortably. The large dog area is roughly the size of a baseball field, while the small dog area is about half that size.
-
Double-Gated Entrance: For added security and to prevent accidental escapes, the park utilizes a double-gated entrance system. This allows owners to safely unleash their dogs in a secure transition zone before entering the main play areas.
-
Poop Bags and Receptacles: Jewell Dog Park provides essential supplies like poop bags, promoting cleanliness and responsible pet ownership. Receptacles are available throughout the park for convenient waste disposal.
-
Seating Areas: The park offers benches and picnic tables (four in the large dog area and at least two in the small dog area) where owners can sit and observe their dogs. While reviews note a desire for "more metal shading," some natural shade from trees is available, particularly in the mornings and evenings.
-
Water Access (Bring Your Own Advised): While some sources indicate a "water station" or "water fountain," many user reviews strongly advise bringing your own water. This suggests that while there may be some provision, its reliability or accessibility might be inconsistent, making personal water bottles for both humans and dogs a wise choice, especially on warmer days.
Jewell Dog Park offers several key features that contribute to its appeal for local Bellevue dog owners:
-
Beautiful Natural Setting: Visitors consistently describe the park as "Very Beautiful!" and praise its "wooded trails." Being "in the middle of the woods" provides a more natural and scenic environment for dog walks and play, offering a refreshing escape.
-
Ample Space for Running: A significant highlight is the "Lots of space!" available in both the large and small dog areas. This means plenty of room for dogs to "run and frolic," engage in games of fetch, and truly stretch their legs, contributing to their physical and mental well-being.
-
Generally Uncrowded: Unlike some highly popular dog parks, Jewell Dog Park is often described as "Not over crowded!" This provides a more relaxed atmosphere for dogs that might be overwhelmed by large groups, and allows for more open play without constant collisions. While regulars mention "lots of regular doggo friends," it maintains a comfortable crowd level.
-
Access to Wooded Trails: A notable advantage is the opportunity to "hike the wooded trails adjacent to the park." This feature allows for extended adventures beyond the fenced off-leash areas, providing a nature-filled experience for both dogs (on-leash in the main park/trails) and their owners.
-
Free Access and Mowed Areas: As a public park, access is free, making it an accessible option for all residents. Reviews also note that the park is "kept mowed," indicating good maintenance of the grassy areas for safe play.
-
Solar Lighting for Evening Use: The presence of "solar lights in the evenings" extends the usability of the park, making it a welcoming spot for evening visits, especially during shorter daylight hours.
-
Clover and Bees: A unique natural feature mentioned by a user is the presence of "a lot of clover so a lot of bees!" While this adds to the natural beauty, visitors allergic to bees should exercise caution.
As a public dog park managed by the City of Bellevue, Jewell Dog Park operates on a free-entry basis for all visitors. Therefore, it does not offer commercial promotions, discounts, or special membership offers. Its primary "promotion" is providing a free, accessible, and dedicated off-leash area for the community's dogs.
However, Bellevue residents are encouraged to stay connected with the City of Bellevue's Parks and Recreation Department. They may periodically host pet-friendly community events, park clean-up initiatives, or educational programs related to pet ownership. These events might be advertised through the city's official website or social media channels. For example, Conservation Nebraska organized a "Hike and Clean-Up" event at Jewell Park in June 2024. While there won't be coupons for entry, the consistent availability of a free, well-maintained public dog park is a significant ongoing benefit to the local population, enhancing the quality of life for pet owners in Bellevue.
For general inquiries about Jewell Dog Park, including questions about amenities, maintenance, or park regulations, it is best to contact the City of Bellevue Parks and Recreation Department.

Jun 03, 2025 · Brandi TomlinsonMy 2 corgis love this dog park. They have lots of regular doggo friends and go at least a few times a week! I wish that the city would add some metal shading and more seating but over all great dog park with lots of space.

May 07, 2018 · Maximus VillatoroI love this place! It's a great place to take your dog if they're not yet used to dogs or don't get along with dogs. I suggest early in the morning on a week day is the best time to go.
Nov 17, 2022 · Rae NicoleThe large dog park area is closed for reseeding unfortunately this has resulted in the area reserved for dogs 35 lbs and under being filled with huskies, German shepherds and other large breed dogs. This clearly presents a safety hazard for my small Maltese (under 10 pounds) who couldn’t enter the park to run and play without risking injury from the large shepherd who kept running over, I was almost knocked over when it jumped on me so it was out of the question that I would allow it to rough house with my dog this same owner also allowed his dog to bark at and corner repeatedly a small child in the park. It’s sad that I live 2 blocks from this park but my dog can no longer enjoy it. Won’t be returning it.
