Furfield Dog Park is conveniently located at 6611 River Rd, Fairfield, OH 45014, USA. Its prime position along River Road makes it easily accessible for residents of Fairfield, as well as those traveling from surrounding communities within Butler County and the greater Cincinnati metropolitan area. The park's address is straightforward to find using GPS or online maps, ensuring a hassle-free journey for first-time visitors and regulars alike.
The park is strategically situated on 6.5 acres of land between Lake Circle Drive and Gray Road, adjacent to Martin Marietta's quarry lake. This expansive setting contributes to the feeling of open space and natural beauty that visitors frequently praise. Parking is readily available on-site, offering convenience and ease for those arriving by car. This direct access to parking eliminates the stress often associated with finding a spot at popular recreational areas, allowing you to quickly transition from your car to the park's welcoming gates.
Furfield Dog Park also plays a role in the local community's recreational infrastructure. The land it occupies is designated not only as a dog park but also as a future trailhead for the proposed extension of the Great Miami River Trail. This forward-thinking urban planning highlights the park's integration into broader regional efforts to enhance outdoor recreational opportunities for all residents, including those with dogs. Its location contributes significantly to its suitability as a go-to spot for locals seeking an accessible and well-connected outdoor space for their pets.
Furfield Dog Park is designed with a thoughtful array of services and amenities aimed at enhancing the experience for both dogs and their owners. While admission to the park is free, the value it offers comes from its well-maintained facilities and the resources it provides:
- Multiple Off-Leash Play Areas: The park spans 6.5 acres and features several distinct, fully fenced areas. This allows for varied play experiences and can, at times, provide separation for dogs of different sizes or play styles, although specific big/small dog separation may vary based on daily usage and park management.
- Canine Swimming Pond with Zero-Entry Edge: A standout feature, the park boasts a large pond specifically designed for dogs to swim and cool off. This pond includes a zero-entry edge, making it easy and safe for dogs of all sizes and swimming abilities to enter and exit the water. There is also a diving dock for more adventurous pups. The pond is regularly maintained, being drained, cleaned, and refilled weekly (typically drained Wednesday evening, cleaned Thursday, and reopened Friday morning) to ensure water quality.
- Shaded Gathering Spaces: Recognizing the importance of comfort for owners, the park offers shaded areas. These gathering spots, often equipped with benches or seating, provide a respite from the sun, allowing owners to relax while their dogs play. The presence of "lots of shade trees" is a frequently praised aspect by visitors.
- Restrooms: For the convenience of human visitors, restrooms are available on-site, a significant amenity not always found at dog parks.
- Dog Waste Bag Dispensers: Committed to cleanliness, Furfield Dog Park supplies complimentary dog waste bags. This thoughtful provision encourages responsible pet ownership and helps maintain the park's "well taken care of grounds" as noted by satisfied users.
- Water Access for Dogs: In addition to the swimming pond, there are facilities providing drinking water for dogs, ensuring they stay hydrated during their active visits.
- Ample Parking: Dedicated parking facilities make visiting the park convenient and stress-free for all users.
- Open Year-Round: Furfield Dog Park is accessible year-round, allowing for enjoyment in all seasons, though the pond's availability is weather-dependent (filled by mid-May, drained and winterized in late September).
Furfield Dog Park distinguishes itself with several key features that contribute to its popularity and provide a superior experience for its canine and human visitors:
- Expansive 6.5-Acre Layout: The sheer size of the park is a major highlight. With 6.5 acres of space, dogs have "lots of room to run" freely, satisfying their natural urge to explore and exercise in a large, fenced environment. This vastness also helps to reduce overcrowding, even on busy days.
- Scenic River Views: Situated near the river, the park offers beautiful, "scenic views." This natural backdrop enhances the overall ambiance, making it a pleasant place not just for dogs to play, but for owners to enjoy the outdoors.
- Large Swimming Pond with Dock: The water feature is arguably the park's most iconic highlight. Unlike many dog parks that only offer small water fountains or kiddie pools, Furfield features a substantial pond with a zero-entry edge and a diving dock. This allows dogs to engage in full-body exercise and cool down, which is especially popular during warmer months. Customer reviews consistently highlight how much their "dog loved it" and appreciated the "beautiful dog pond which is cleaned weekly."
- Abundant Natural Shade: The presence of "lots of shade trees" throughout the park is a significant benefit, providing natural relief from the sun for both dogs and owners, making visits more comfortable, particularly during the hot Ohio summers.
- Well-Maintained Grassy Grounds: Visitors frequently commend the park for its "well taken care of grounds." The grassy fields are kept in good condition, providing a soft and enjoyable surface for dogs to play on.
- Fully Fenced and Secure: The entire park is fully fenced, offering a secure environment where dogs can roam off-leash without concerns of wandering off. The presence of a double-gated entrance further enhances safety.
- Community Vibe: While not a physical feature, the park often hosts a friendly atmosphere. Users describe meeting "fellow pet enthusiasts" and appreciate the "safe environment and vibrant community."
As a public park facility managed by the City of Fairfield's Parks and Recreation department, Furfield Dog Park typically operates on a free-admission basis for all visitors. Therefore, it does not generally offer commercial promotions, discounts, or membership-based special offers in the way a private business might.
However, the City of Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department may occasionally organize or host special community events at Furfield Dog Park. These could include:
- Pet-themed Community Events: Occasional events such as dog-friendly festivals, pet adoption drives, or educational workshops on pet care might be held at the park. These events provide opportunities for dog owners to engage with local pet resources, meet other dog lovers, and participate in fun, unique activities.
- Seasonal Activities: Given its popular pond, there might be specific seasonal events related to water activities for dogs, especially during the opening and closing of the pond season.
- Volunteer Opportunities: While not a "promotion," the park may solicit volunteers for clean-up days or maintenance projects, offering a chance for community members to contribute to keeping their favorite dog park beautiful.

May 27, 2025 · Cheryl PochardWe absolutely love this dog park. We go multiple times a week for socialization and exercise. There are multiple fields and plenty of shade from the trees. There is also a great maintenance team that takes care of the facility and cleans the pool out weekly. Would recommend for dogs that enjoy being around other dogs as it is a very popular spot in the summer.
Jul 18, 2024 · Allison GoolsbyThis is the best dog park we have visited. The dogs were well-trained and having fun with each other. The owners were kind and watchful of their dogs. There were four field areas for your dog to play in. The pool area is nice. Many dogs were swimming and playing fetch. The park has a wash off area, as well.
Jun 23, 2024 · Valerie StoneThe best dog park in Cincinnati by far! Everyone was so friendly and all of the dogs were having a great time in the water. Definitely bring towels and plan to stop at a dog wash on the way home.
