Welcome to Forsberg Off-Leash Dog Park
For dog owners living in or visiting Lakewood, Colorado, the search for an ideal spot where their beloved canines can run, play, and socialize freely often leads to one exceptional destination: Forsberg Off-Leash Dog Park. Situated within the broader Forsberg-Iron Spring Park, this acclaimed facility consistently earns glowing reviews from locals, solidifying its reputation as a premier choice for canine recreation in the Denver Metro area. It's a place where dogs can truly be themselves, burning off energy and interacting with fellow pups in a secure and engaging environment.
What truly sets Forsberg Off-Leash Dog Park apart is its thoughtful design and diverse terrain. Unlike many flat, open dog parks, Forsberg offers a dynamic landscape that includes "a few steep hills that'll definitely get your heart pumping." This varied topography provides an excellent workout for dogs, challenging them both physically and mentally as they navigate the inclines and descents. For energetic pups, these hills are a dream come true, allowing them to sprint and explore to their heart's content.
Beyond the exciting terrain, the park is designed to accommodate dogs of all energy levels and sizes. While not explicitly marked by signage, a common understanding among regulars often designates two separate areas for play. This allows owners to guide their dogs to a space that best suits their temperament – whether they're a high-energy dog eager for vigorous play or a more laid-back canine that prefers a calmer, more exploratory experience. This unspoken rule, often fostered by the friendly community of local dog owners, contributes significantly to a more harmonious and safer environment for all visitors.
The commitment to a positive visitor experience extends beyond the canine amenities. Forsberg Off-Leash Dog Park is highly praised for its "well kept restrooms and plenty of parking." These essential human conveniences are often overlooked but are paramount for comfortable and extended visits, making the park a truly welcoming destination for the entire family. The ease of access, combined with a clean and well-maintained environment, ensures that a trip to Forsberg is stress-free and enjoyable from start to finish.
Nestled adjacent to Green Mountain, the park also boasts an added bonus: "spectacular views of the southern Front Range." This picturesque backdrop elevates the experience, allowing both dogs and their owners to connect with Colorado's stunning natural beauty while enjoying quality time together. It’s a place where the joy of off-leash play is complemented by scenic vistas, making every visit a memorable one for the Lakewood community.
Forsberg Off-Leash Dog Park is conveniently located in Lakewood, Colorado, at the address 15900 W Alameda Pkwy, Lakewood, CO 80228, USA. This prime location places it within the larger Forsberg-Iron Spring Park, which is situated on the mountainside open space of Green Mountain. This positioning provides not only easy access but also scenic views of the southern Front Range.
Accessibility to the dog park is one of its strong suits. The park is easily reachable via major roads in Lakewood, with West Alameda Parkway providing direct access. A significant advantage for visitors is the abundance of parking. Reviews consistently highlight that there is "plenty of parking," alleviating concerns about finding a spot, even during peak hours. This makes the park a stress-free destination for dog owners arriving by car from various parts of Lakewood and beyond.
Once parked, the dog park itself is a "short walk down and to the right from the parking lot, if you are facing Alameda." While there might be some "steep hills" within the park itself that "get your heart pumping," the general access from the parking lot to the fenced areas is straightforward. The entire off-leash area is fully fenced, ensuring a secure environment for dogs to play freely.
The park operates with generous hours, typically from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. This wide window of operation allows flexibility for morning exercises, afternoon playdates, or even evening strolls with pups. As a public park, there is no entry fee to access Forsberg Off-Leash Dog Park, further enhancing its accessibility as a valuable community resource. The combination of excellent parking, clear pathways, and extended operating hours makes it a highly convenient and user-friendly choice for local dog owners.

May 15, 2025 · vic moMy only complaint is that the water fountain to refill your dog's personal water containers (which you definitely need to bring) is just outside the dog park area, instead of in the fenced area where it should be in my opinion.
Apr 29, 2025 · Sarah FieldRocky and could be muddy! But overall nice for a quick jaunt if you want your doggo to interact with others.. every time I’ve gone it’s been pretty busy! Lots of dogs to hang with. There are two separate spaces too so I think if your dog isn’t super into dogs you can go in a separate area. Both are pretty big. Also like this lot to park in to get over to Green Mountain. There’s a little tunnel to get there.
Apr 29, 2025 · Dana BarracoVery large space for dogs to run and play. There are two sides, so not everyone has to be in the same area. There is even a little agility area. Water is just outside the play area. A bit dusty but fun for all. Plenty of places for humans to sit too
Oct 08, 2024 · Rachel BThe park features a nice set of trails and a pavilion for picnics. There are two off leash areas, one with a dog playground at the bottom of the hill and the other with some grass. I'd give this place five stars, except the water fountain doesn't work. Make sure to bring water for yourself and your canine companions. Hydrate!
