A much needed third space for Modesto. Your dog will LOVE it! If someone smokes or brings food in, it's time to leave as they probably won't have a well behaved dog. You can kinda read the people who come here and see easily if they are trustworthy or not. The vast majority are, I've only had to leave twice and I've been here several times a week for half a year now.

Accessibility to the dog park is generally considered excellent for local users. The park is a "fully fenced" enclosure, providing a secure environment for off-leash play. The park also boasts "free parking nearby," making it convenient for those driving in. Additionally, it is noted for its "easy wheelchair access," ensuring inclusivity for all members of the community, including those with service animals or mobility challenges.
While a specific street address like 601 Morris Ave points directly to Elk Park, some sources also mention "607-651 W Morris Ave" as the location for "Modesto's First Dog Park," which appears to be the same facility. This highlights its clear identification within the local community. The park is open from 6 AM to 10 PM daily, providing ample opportunity for visits throughout the day. As a public municipal park amenity managed by the City of Modesto, the Elk Park / Modesto Dog Park does not typically offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense, such as discounts, sales, or loyalty programs. Its primary "offer" to the community is its continuous provision of a valuable, free, and accessible public space for dog recreation and socialization.
The inherent value for locals is the sustained availability of a spacious, securely fenced off-leash environment with essential amenities like separate dog areas, a water fountain, and waste disposal supplies. This significantly enhances the quality of life for pet owners in Modesto by providing a safe and stimulating outlet for their dogs' energy and social needs, all without any admission fees.
Any "promotions" or special events associated with the park would most likely be community-driven initiatives or programs organized by the City of Modesto Parks, Recreation & Neighborhoods Department. These could include educational workshops on responsible pet ownership, pet adoption events (though likely in the broader park, not strictly the dog run), or community clean-up days. Such events would be communicated through official city channels, local community boards, or the City of Modesto's Parks and Recreation website. For locals, the most consistent "special offer" is the peace of mind and enjoyment derived from having such a well-equipped and friendly dog park readily available in their city. The park's consistent positive reception from users underscores its ongoing value to the community.

Jul 05, 2024 · Kat MFresh air, dogs playing, bags supplied... one of the best things about Modesto. Too many people? Take a walk across the street.
Jun 10, 2025 · Damorin MaloneMy dog always has a great time raging with her pals at the "bark park". People are good about picking up after their dog(s), so it is pretty clean and tidy. Folks are generally friendly to chat with. It is also fun to get to know other people's dog(s).
Jul 10, 2023 · Steve NelsonThis is a great place to bring your pawfect fury friend to run around and play with other amazing canines, and it's fenced in. Also, they have a segregated section to keep the small dogs from accidently getting trampled from the big dogs. It's pretty clean. The only reason I deducted a sugar is the dog park, which apparently needs to have a drainage system in place and to be graded from the south east corner with a downgrade to the north entry way so that the water can be lead to the parking lot for drainage. Fix the issue, and I'll upgrade. Other than that, it's a really great park.
Jan 24, 2023 · Robert Arndt (OmniscientPhotography.com)We were just passing through on a road trip and found this gem. Good water fountains, ground fully covered by wood chips, considerate owners pick up after their pets (please do this), shade, benches, 2 areas AND a park nearby so the owners can relieve themselves...(Not as clean as the dog park and more fragrant facilities)
