Edit, 4/22/23: One of the entrances has seemingly been dismantled. It's totally useless, cannot go leash-free. This dog park is the littlest dog park. It's a pretty good use of space and actually has lights for when it's dark. It's AstroTurf so it shouldn't ever be muddy. Not very busy, a couple of small pieces of agility equipment, water, poo bags and trash. One small problem is that it has two actual different entrances, so before entering be sure at least one gate from each entrance is shut. Other folks might not be as keen on that potential problem.

This dog park stands out for its innovative use of space and its commitment to providing key amenities that cater to the needs of city dogs. Featuring an AstroTurf surface, it promises a mud-free experience regardless of the weather, a significant advantage for keeping paws clean. The presence of lighting for nighttime use means that even after the sun sets over the Memphis skyline, dogs can still enjoy a safe and active play session. Despite a noted issue with one of its entrances and the need for vigilance regarding the multi-gate system, the Edge Triangle Hound Dog Dog Park remains a highly appreciated urban oasis, fostering a sense of community among downtown dog lovers. It’s a testament to how even a compact space can deliver a big impact for canine well-being in a bustling city environment.
Edge Triangle Hound Dog Dog Park is strategically located in Memphis, TN 38103, USA. This places it directly within the burgeoning Edge District, an area known for its revitalization and blend of residential, commercial, and entertainment venues. Its downtown location makes it particularly accessible for residents living in the immediate urban core, including those in nearby apartments and lofts, as well as professionals working in the area who want to give their dogs a midday break.
The park's accessibility is generally excellent for those in downtown Memphis. Public transportation options are robust in this area, and for those driving, parking is often available nearby, though it might require finding street parking or utilizing paid lots, as is typical for an urban environment. One of the unique aspects of its accessibility, as highlighted by reviews, is its "two actual different entrances." While this offers multiple points of entry, it also necessitates vigilance to ensure all gates are securely latched. According to some sources, the park is open 24 hours, while others suggest hours from 6 AM to 8 PM daily. It's advisable for visitors to confirm current operating hours, especially if planning a late-night or early-morning visit. The presence of lighting for when it's dark significantly enhances its usability during non-daylight hours.
Services Offered:
- Off-Leash Play Area: The primary service is a designated, fenced-in space where dogs can run and play freely without a leash.
- AstroTurf Surface: A key feature is its AstroTurf ground cover, which means the park should never be muddy, regardless of rain or watering, offering a consistently clean play surface.
- Water Access: The park provides water facilities for dogs, essential for keeping them hydrated, especially during warmer Tennessee days.
- Pet Waste Bags & Trash Receptacles: To promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership, the park offers readily available poo bags and trash cans for waste disposal.
- Lighting for Night Use: The presence of lights ensures the park remains usable and safe for play during evening and nighttime hours.
- Basic Agility Equipment: The park includes a couple of small pieces of agility equipment, adding an element of interactive fun and physical stimulation for the dogs.
Features / Highlights:
- Urban Oasis: Despite its compact size, it serves as a valuable green space in a densely populated urban area, providing much-needed outdoor recreation for downtown dogs.
- Mud-Free Play: The AstroTurf surface is a significant highlight, guaranteeing a clean play environment free from mud, which is a common issue in natural grass parks, especially after rain.
- Nighttime Usability: The effective lighting system allows for safe and convenient use of the park after dark, accommodating various schedules and providing a cooler option during hot Memphis summers.
- Convenient & Not Overly Busy: While it seems there's "always someone there," the park isn't typically "very busy," offering a comfortable level of activity that allows dogs to socialize without being overwhelmed.
- Community Building: It acts as a natural meeting point for local dog owners, fostering connections within the Edge District neighborhood.
- Double-Gated System (with a caveat): The presence of two actual entrances, requiring users to ensure both are shut, emphasizes the park's focus on secure containment, even if it sometimes requires extra vigilance.
