Didn't know that Elizabeth park has a separate area for smaller dogs. It is a real grass park so be ready to give a bath to your little one after the play especially after a rainy day.

Services Offered

The Dog Park for Small Dogs focuses on providing a safe and stimulating environment for smaller canines. While it's primarily an off-leash play area, it offers several key services and features to enhance the experience for both dogs and their owners.

  • Dedicated Small Dog Area: The park features a specific .02-acre natural grass area explicitly for dogs 14 inches and under at the shoulders. This separation helps ensure the safety and comfort of smaller dogs, allowing them to play without intimidation from larger breeds.
  • Off-Leash Play: Within the designated small dog area, pups are welcome to roam and play off-leash, encouraging free exercise and socialization.
  • Community Gathering Spot: The park serves as a natural meeting point for local dog owners, fostering a sense of community and allowing for shared experiences and advice among pet parents.

Features / Highlights

What truly sets the Dog Park for Small Dogs apart are its specific features designed to cater to its pint-sized patrons and their human companions.

  • Natural Grass Surface: Unlike some dog parks that utilize artificial turf, this dedicated small dog area boasts natural grass. While this means it might get a bit muddy after a rainy day, as noted by a satisfied customer, it provides a more natural and perhaps softer play surface for delicate paws.
  • Double Gate Entry: For enhanced security and to prevent accidental escapes, the park features a double-gated entry system. This allows owners to safely unleash their dogs in a transition area before entering the main play space.
  • Benches and Shade Structures: Throughout the park, you’ll find benches where owners can relax and observe their dogs at play. Shade structures are also available, offering respite from the California sun, particularly on warmer days.
  • Drinking Fountains: Both dog and human-friendly drinking fountains are provided, ensuring that everyone stays hydrated during their visit.
  • Dedicated to Small Breeds: The very existence of a separate, natural grass area for smaller dogs is a significant highlight, demonstrating a thoughtful approach to canine recreation. This feature is particularly appreciated by owners of puppies and smaller adult dogs who may feel overwhelmed in mixed-size dog parks.
  • Regular Crowds: According to customer reviews, the park often sees a good crowd on both weekdays and weekends, which is ideal for socialization and ensuring there are always playmates for your pup.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public park amenity, Dog Park for Small Dogs does not typically offer commercial promotions or special offers in the traditional sense. However, its value comes from being a free and accessible resource for the community. The "special offer" here is the unparalleled opportunity for your small dog to enjoy dedicated off-leash playtime in a safe, community-oriented setting without any entry fees or membership requirements. Keep an eye on the City of Fremont's Parks and Recreation website or local community calendars for any potential dog-related events or clinics that might be hosted at Central Park, which could include the dog park area. These community events, while not direct promotions, offer added value and opportunities for engagement.

Great place to take my 10-month puppy. There’s always a crowd weekday and weekends. Artificial grass is nice but gets all over the fur pretty fast. Recommended overall!

Really good dog part. Separated park for big dog and small dog. Clean and maintained. All dog owners are nice too.
