I took my 3 small dogs there once and was so pleased to learn that Love's has a dog park...UNTIL my mini-dachshund slid under the fence. There is a gap of 9 inches or so that any small dog could maneuver. I caught mine just before she got into the parking lot. No point taking my dogs there if I have to keep them on a leash inside the fence! I spoke with management about it, which did no good, and later called their corporate office. Last I checked, nothing had been done. Awfully disappointing. I live close and would have frequently done business there.

Love's Travel Stops are well-known for their comprehensive amenities catering to travelers, and their inclusion of dog parks at many locations, including Rural Hall, highlights a commitment to supporting pet owners on the go. These dog parks are designed to be convenient, offering a fenced environment where dogs can safely be off-leash, socialize, and relieve themselves. While these facilities are often utilized by long-haul truckers and road-trippers, they also serve as a valuable resource for local North Carolina residents seeking a quick and accessible place for their dogs to get some exercise.
It’s important for local users to approach such facilities with a clear understanding of their purpose and features. The Dog Park at Love’s Travel Stops is strategically located at 2257 Shore Rd, Rural Hall, NC 27045, USA. This address places it directly adjacent to the Love's Travel Stop facility, offering excellent accessibility for both residents of Rural Hall and those traveling along US-52, a major thoroughfare in North Carolina. Its proximity to a key interstate exit (Exit 120 on US-52) makes it an ideal and easily reachable stop for travelers needing a quick break for their furry friends.
For locals in Rural Hall and the wider Forsyth County area, the park’s location provides significant convenience. Whether you're running errands, fueling up your vehicle, or simply looking for a nearby spot for your dog to get some fresh air, the dog park is integrated into a facility that's designed for easy in-and-out access. Love's Travel Stops typically feature expansive parking lots that can accommodate various vehicle sizes, including RVs and trucks, making parking generally stress-free for all visitors.
A notable advantage of Love's dog parks is their 24/7 availability. This around-the-clock access means that dog owners can utilize the park whenever needed, regardless of the time of day or night. While the dog park is a contained area, it's part of a bustling travel stop, so users should remain mindful of their surroundings and keep dogs leashed when outside the fenced enclosure until safely inside the park.
The Dog Park at Love’s Travel Stops in Rural Hall, NC, offers essential services primarily focused on providing a secure and convenient space for dogs. These services are designed to meet the fundamental needs of dogs for exercise and relief, particularly beneficial for those on a journey or seeking a quick local stop. Here’s a breakdown of the services you can expect:
-
Fully-Fenced Off-Leash Area: The core service is a dedicated, fully-fenced enclosure where dogs can be let off their leashes to run and play. This provides a crucial safe space for exercise, reducing the risk of dogs wandering into traffic or away from their owners in a busy travel stop environment. Love's dog parks are typically around 50 by 100 feet in size, offering ample room.
-
Pet Waste Stations with Bags: To promote cleanliness and hygiene, the dog park is equipped with well-maintained pet waste stations that include bag dispensers and trash receptacles. This encourages responsible pet ownership and helps ensure a clean and pleasant environment for all users.
-
Turf, Grass, and Gravel Surfaces: The park features a mix of surfaces, including artificial turf, grass, and gravel. This variety offers different textures for dogs and can ensure usability in various weather conditions, making it a versatile play area.
-
24/7 Access: A significant service is the park's continuous availability. Being open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allows for maximum flexibility, catering to the varying schedules of both travelers and local residents.
-
Seating Options: Many Love's dog parks, including potentially this location, include benches or picnic tables, offering a place for owners to sit and relax while supervising their dogs.
While designed for convenience, it's important to note a specific concern raised by a user about a gap under the fence, which might allow "small dogs maneuver" out. While Love's aims for secure environments, small dog owners should exercise extra vigilance or keep their dogs leashed within the park if this issue persists. The overall services, however, aim to provide a functional and accessible space for dog relief and exercise.
The Dog Park at Love’s Travel Stops in Rural Hall, NC, offers several key features and highlights that make it a notable stop for dog owners, despite some potential limitations. These attributes underscore its value as a functional and convenient amenity:

A notable concern from a past review mentions a "gap of 9 inches or so" under the fence, which could allow small dogs to escape. While Love's aims for secure facilities, this highlights the importance for small dog owners to be particularly vigilant and assess the fence integrity upon arrival. Despite this specific feedback, the fundamental features provided by Love's still aim to offer a necessary and generally reliable space for canine relief and exercise.
As a public amenity provided by Love's Travel Stops, the Dog Park in Rural Hall, NC, does not typically feature commercial promotions or special offers directly related to its use. Access to the dog park is free of charge for all visitors, aligning with Love's commitment to providing convenient services for travelers and their pets.
However, users of the dog park, as patrons of the larger Love's Travel Stops facility, may be able to take advantage of various promotions and loyalty programs offered by Love's at their main store and fuel pumps. These can include:

While its primary design caters to travelers, its attributes make it a valuable resource for local use as well.
The most compelling aspect of this dog park for locals is its sheer convenience and accessibility. Its 24/7 availability is a significant advantage, allowing dog owners the flexibility to utilize the park at any time, accommodating diverse schedules that might not align with traditional park hours. This accessibility means less planning and more opportunities for your dog to get the outdoor time they need.
The park's fully fenced enclosure offers a vital element of security, providing a designated space where dogs can safely be off-leash. While one review did highlight a concern about a gap under the fence for very small dogs, for most average-sized and larger canines, the fence serves its purpose in providing containment. Responsible local owners can assess this upon arrival and act accordingly, perhaps keeping very small dogs on a long lead if concerns persist. The presence of pet waste stations further supports responsible pet ownership, promoting cleanliness within the community.
Moreover, being part of a "brand new store and very clean space" means that the dog park benefits from the overall high standards of maintenance found at Love's facilities. This contributes to a more pleasant environment for both dogs and their owners. For locals, this means having access to a consistently cared-for space, even if it's designed for utility rather than extensive recreational features.
In essence, the Dog Park at Love’s Travel Stops in Rural Hall is a functional, accessible, and reliably available resource for North Carolina dog owners. It effectively meets the need for a quick, safe, and convenient place for dogs to stretch their legs and socialize, making it a perfectly suitable and beneficial amenity for the local community, especially for those moments when a full-fledged park visit isn't feasible.

Jul 25, 2024 · Dee DeeOur first time in a Love’s RV spot, August 4, 2024, was a great place to spend the night! Dinner at Bojangles too! We used the online reservation system - slick! The gas pumps are angled, making it super easy to get fuel in the RV.
