MUD MUD MUD. Huge area, nice park. When they sprinkler grass, it turns into a giant mess. It's April 2025 and the summer MUD pits are already here. They need maintenence to fix the sprinkler coverage, leaky sprinklers etc. Nice park but seeing how it was all summer last year and how it's already starting this year, may need to find another park. THERE IS NO HOSE to wash the mud off your dog either, just a fountain

Welcome to Dog Park at Crossroads
For dog owners in Gilbert, Arizona, and the wider East Valley, finding a spacious and dedicated place for their canine companions to run, play, and socialize is a key part of their routine. The Dog Park at Crossroads offers a large, fenced off-leash area within the expansive Crossroads Park, providing a convenient and generally well-loved destination for pups of all energy levels. While it boasts ample space and thoughtful divisions, understanding its nuances can help local users make the most of their visit.
This dog park is designed to cater to various canine temperaments, offering distinct areas that allow for more controlled interactions. It's a testament to the Town of Gilbert's commitment to providing valuable recreational spaces for its furry residents and their human companions. Whether your dog loves to sprint, prefers a calmer play session, or simply needs space to explore, Dog Park at Crossroads aims to offer an environment for all.
The Dog Park at Crossroads is conveniently located at 2155 E Knox Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85296, USA. It is nestled within the larger Crossroads Park, a significant community hub in Gilbert, known for its various recreational facilities. Its position makes it easily accessible for residents across Gilbert and neighboring communities like Chandler and Mesa, particularly those in the southern parts of the East Valley.
The park boasts excellent operating hours, open daily from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM, providing ample opportunity for early morning romps or evening exercise, which is particularly beneficial in Arizona's warm climate. There is plenty of parking available within Crossroads Park, ensuring easy access to the dog park entrance. The paved paths leading to the fenced areas contribute to ease of access. It's important to note that the park undergoes maintenance closures in June and July, and specific areas may be closed for maintenance rotations (e.g., Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM for one section), so checking the Gilbert Parks & Recreation website for current schedules is always a good idea.
The Dog Park at Crossroads provides a range of services and amenities designed to create a functional and accommodating environment for dogs and their owners.
- Two Fenced Off-Leash Areas: The park features two distinct, fully fenced acres for off-leash play. These are intelligently separated into:
- An "active" side for more energetic and larger dogs.
- A "timid" or "passive" side, often suitable for smaller dogs, puppies, or those who prefer a calmer play environment.
- Owner/Pet Drinking Fountains: Water fountains are available for both human and canine hydration, a vital amenity in the Arizona heat.
- Waste Disposal Stations: "Mutt-Mitt" waste disposal stations with bags and trash receptacles are provided throughout the park, encouraging responsible cleanup and helping to maintain the park's cleanliness.
- Seating Areas: Tables and benches are available within the fenced areas, allowing human companions to sit and relax while supervising their dogs.
- Partial Lighting: The south end of the dog park features partial lighting, extending usability into the evening hours.
Dog Park at Crossroads offers several notable features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a local dog park destination.
- Spacious Environment: With two dedicated acres, the park offers a "huge area" for dogs to run, explore, and play freely. This ample space is particularly beneficial for high-energy breeds.
- Dedicated Areas for Different Temperaments: The separation into "active" and "timid" areas is a significant highlight, allowing owners to choose the most suitable environment for their dog, promoting safer and more enjoyable interactions.
- Integrated with Crossroads Park: Being part of the larger 92-acre Crossroads Park means visitors have access to a wide array of other amenities, including baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, basketball and volleyball courts, reservable ramadas with grills, a shaded play structure for children, and an amphitheater. This makes it a multi-purpose destination for families.
- Good for Exercise: The sheer size of the park means dogs can get significant exercise, whether it's chasing a ball across the grassy expanses or engaging in active play with other dogs.
- Community Atmosphere: On many days, the park sees a good number of dogs and owners, fostering a community feel where pets can socialize and owners can connect.
As a public park operated by the Town of Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department, Dog Park at Crossroads does not typically offer commercial promotions or special offers. Access to the park is generally free for all visitors, serving as a valuable community amenity provided by the town. The "special offer" here is the provision of a free, well-maintained, and spacious environment for dogs to exercise and socialize.
However, the Town of Gilbert Parks and Recreation frequently hosts various community events and activities throughout the year within Crossroads Park or other Gilbert parks. While not always directly tied to the dog park, some of these events might be pet-friendly or of interest to dog owners. It is advisable for local residents to regularly check the official Town of Gilbert website's Parks and Recreation section, or their social media channels, for announcements regarding any upcoming pet-related activities, community gatherings, or seasonal programs that might take place at or near Dog Park at Crossroads.

It is highly recommended to check the Town of Gilbert's official website (specifically the Crossroads Park page) for the most current information regarding park hours, any temporary closures for maintenance (especially in June and July or for rotating sections), and official dog park rules. You can also consult resources like Arizonadogparks.com or BringFido for additional insights and user reviews.
The Dog Park at Crossroads is a highly suitable and frequently utilized resource for locals in Gilbert, Arizona, and the surrounding communities, despite some acknowledged challenges. Its substantial size, encompassing two fenced acres, provides ample room for dogs to run and play, addressing a critical need for exercise in a secure environment. The thoughtful division into "active" and "timid" sections is a significant advantage, allowing owners to match their dog's energy level and temperament with appropriate playmates, which contributes to a safer and more enjoyable experience for all.
While reviews highlight issues such as "mud mud mud" during sprinkler times or general wetness and a lack of a hose for rinsing, these are common maintenance challenges for large grassy dog parks, particularly in an arid climate where irrigation is essential. Local users often learn to adapt, perhaps by bringing towels or visiting during drier times. The benefit of the park's expansive area and dedicated zones often outweighs these minor inconveniences for many. The availability of water fountains and waste disposal stations also underscores the park's commitment to basic necessities. Ultimately, for Gilbert residents seeking a spacious, convenient, and well-structured off-leash area for their dogs, Dog Park at Crossroads remains a valuable local asset, especially for those whose dogs thrive on extensive running and social interaction.

Apr 22, 2025 · Matt CainIt was our 1st time. All dogs in the active side we very good except one boxer that wouldn't leave my 2 dogs alone. No parent seemed to care. We went to the other side and had fun. A little more parental control would be good.
May 13, 2025 · Jay WalshLake and water features are under construction. Nothing special without that. Wasn't super clean... owners hadn't cleaned up after their pets. Make sure to bring your own water and bowl. Will try it again if they get the lake back in...
May 05, 2025 · Maria RosettiVery clean and wide open spaces. Great for family walks, playing games, and fishing. Didn't catch anything yesterday, but saw some dead tilapia on the banks. Had a great time with some local roosters who attend the park.
