I don't go to the dog park area, it's sometimes a bit muddy and lots of fences not picked up so I take my dog walking at Lake Rememberence on the trail with her harness and leash. For the most part, people there are respectful and just out doing the same walking or fishing off to the side, so it's a pleasant walk, especially now that the trail is paved completely around. Of course there are many people that just leave giant piles of dog poo even though they provide baggies to pick it up at several places near the entrance areas (there are two)!! I can say that's the only thing that annoys me here so I can deal with that. Also, just sometimes the lake is has trash all around the edges due to either people just leaving picnic leftovers or not throwing stuff away They do have several trash receptacles around the pond but I have witnessed younger kids completely take the trash and dump it in the lake for some reason. No this does not happen Everytime I go, it's probably a bit dirty 1/3rd of the time I even go so no intolerable and I still love going. The trash bags need to be changed but I don't know who is in charge of that every day. Despite all the yuck that CAN be around, it's still a nice walk for the dog and she absolutely loves it! I've never fished there, but it's plenty big to fish all around or by boat, cable or kayak that I've seen.

Blue Springs Dog Park isn't just a simple patch of grass; it’s a thoughtfully equipped space that caters to various aspects of canine well-being, providing a diverse experience for every pup. While some local feedback mentions occasional challenges like muddy areas or uncollected waste, the overwhelming sentiment highlights its value as a fantastic resource. As one detailed review notes, "Very nice dog park. Lots of trees making it cooler. The pond is a good size for doggy swimming but unfortunately water could use some sort of filtration system." Despite minor inconveniences, the same reviewer concludes, "Despite all the yuck that CAN be around, it's still a nice walk for the dog and she absolutely loves it!" This illustrates that the core offerings and the joy it brings to dogs far outweigh any occasional drawbacks.
As Missourians, we truly appreciate our community spaces and the opportunities they provide for recreation and connection. A well-maintained dog park like Blue Springs Dog Park is an invaluable asset. It allows dogs, who might otherwise be confined to leashed walks or smaller yards, to truly expend energy, engage in natural dog behaviors, and benefit from essential socialization. This interaction is crucial for developing well-adjusted and well-behaved dogs, contributing positively to the overall fabric of our local pet-friendly community.
Blue Springs Dog Park is conveniently located at 1049 NE 20 St, Blue Springs, MO 64029, USA. This address places it squarely within Gregory O. Grounds Park, a well-known and easily accessible public park in Blue Springs. Being part of a larger municipal park system means it benefits from established infrastructure and clear signage, guiding visitors directly to the dog park area.
Accessibility to the park is generally good for residents of Blue Springs and neighboring areas. While parking details are not extensively elaborated in the provided reviews, its location within a city park usually implies readily available parking options, making it convenient for dog owners to unload their pets and gear. The park is easily reachable via local roadways, ensuring that a trip to the dog park is as hassle-free as possible, allowing more time for your furry friend to enjoy their off-leash freedom. The ease of access makes it a practical choice for regular visits, integrating seamlessly into the daily routines of local pet parents.
Blue Springs Dog Park, as a public facility developed through community efforts in conjunction with the Blue Springs Park and Recreation Department, provides a range of amenities designed to create a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for dogs and their owners. While it doesn't offer commercial services, its core provisions are well-appreciated.
-
Designated Off-Leash Areas: The park spans 2.7 acres within Gregory O. Grounds Park, offering ample open space for dogs to run, play, and interact freely without leashes. This expansive area allows for vigorous exercise and natural canine behaviors.
-
Separate Area for Smaller Dogs: A thoughtful and crucial feature is the dedicated "separate area for smaller dogs" for pets 14 inches or less at the shoulder and weighing no more than 25 pounds. This separation enhances safety and allows dogs of different sizes and play styles to interact comfortably and securely.
-
Small Pond for Dog Swimming: A unique highlight is the "small pond" available for "doggy swimming." This provides an excellent opportunity for water-loving dogs to cool off and play in the water, adding a distinct recreational element not found in all dog parks.
-
Agility Equipment: The park features "agility equipment," providing additional mental and physical stimulation for dogs. These obstacles encourage playful challenges and can be used for informal training.
-
People/Canine Water Fountain: Ensuring hydration for all, the park has a "people/canine water fountain," providing fresh drinking water.
-
Dog Wash Area: A highly convenient amenity, especially after a dip in the pond or a muddy play session, is the "dog wash area at the exit of the park." This allows owners to rinse off their pups before heading home.
-
Shade Trees and Open Space: The park boasts "lots of open space and shade trees," offering a balance of sunny areas for active play and cool, shaded spots for rest and relaxation.
-
Waste Bags and Receptacles: Although some reviews mention occasional issues, the park does provide "baggies to pick it up at several places near the entrance areas" and "several trash receptacles around the pond," encouraging responsible waste disposal.
Blue Springs Dog Park distinguishes itself with several key features that make it a favorite among Kansas dog owners:
-
The Swimming Pond: The "small pond for doggy swimming" is arguably the most unique and appealing feature. While one review noted it "could use some sort of filtration system" and might appear "green most of the time," the fact that it offers a dedicated water source for canine recreation is a major draw, especially during warmer months.
-
Convenient Dog Wash Station: The availability of a "dog wash area at the exit" is a highly practical highlight. This allows owners to rinse off muddy or wet dogs before they get back into the car, a thoughtful amenity that enhances the overall park experience.
-
Agility Course Elements: The presence of "agility equipment" provides engaging activities beyond just free-running, allowing dogs to challenge themselves physically and mentally.
-
Balanced Environment of Sun and Shade: With "lots of open space and shade trees," the park caters to various weather conditions and preferences, providing comfortable areas for both active play and resting.
-
Separate Areas for Different Dog Sizes: The dedicated "small dog area" (for dogs 25 lbs and under, or 14 inches and less at the shoulder) is crucial for ensuring safe play environments for all dogs, preventing intimidation and promoting positive socialization.
-
Community-Driven Creation: The park's origin "through fundraising efforts of citizens in conjunction with the Blue Springs Park and Recreation Department" highlights its deep roots in the local community, fostering a sense of ownership and pride among users.
-
Proximity to Lake Remembrance Trail: While the dog park area itself can be muddy, one reviewer mentioned walking their dog "at Lake Remembrance on the trail with her harness and leash," noting the trail is "paved completely around." This proximity to additional leashed walking paths provides extended recreational options within the larger park complex.
As a public facility managed by the City of Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department, Blue Springs Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions, discounts, or membership programs in the traditional sense. Access to the off-leash park is generally free of charge for all residents and visitors. The primary "special offer" to the community is the invaluable provision of a well-maintained, feature-rich, and dedicated off-leash environment for dogs, which significantly reduces the financial burden on pet owners seeking quality outdoor spaces for their pets to exercise and socialize.
However, local residents are encouraged to regularly check the official City of Blue Springs Parks and Recreation website or their social media channels for any free community events that might be hosted at Gregory O. Grounds Park or other city parks. These could occasionally include pet-related gatherings, such as pet expos, adoption days, educational workshops on dog behavior, or community clean-up initiatives that dog owners might find valuable to participate in. While these are not ongoing "promotions" in a commercial sense, they represent additional community benefits that enhance the overall value of the park and the local pet-owning experience.

Mar 11, 2025 · Missy Morphis-JonesVery nice dog park. Lots of trees making it cooler. The pond is a good size for doggy swimming but unfortunately water could use some sort of filtration system. 3/4 remains green most of the time.
Sep 29, 2023 · Genevieve PodolskiGreat place to let the pups run wild!! It is fully fenced and secure. There is fresh fountain drinking water for the pups and folks there were really friendly. There was a couple of dogs that came and were giving my brother's dog the business. The owners were on top of it, controlled their dogs well and then left quickly when their dogs couldn't behave. We were thankful. They have two areas as well so you can separate smaller and larger dogs. And the space is wonderful. The pups will come home tired for sure!
Sep 28, 2024 · Linda SilvaThis park is wonderful! We stopped by when we were on a road trip and had a great time running around and playing ball. The park is fenced off from the lake, but there are gates that open out to the water, and it looks like it would be a nice swimming spot in the warmer months. There were plenty of benches, garbage cans, and poop bag dispenser stations. There was also a lot of agility equipment and a separate small dog side of the park too. The water spigot at the entrance of the large dog section was leaking a little bit, and it was causing a lot of ice on the concrete, so be cautious of that.
Nov 10, 2018 · MXMThe people that come here are very friendly. The small dog area is covered with brush and there is a lot of mud. So be prepared to clean your dog and the water is not yet turned on yet.
