This place used to be so fun. There were statues, memorials, and art scattered through the woods. Lately, some grinch has taken it upon themselves to break, tear down, and throw the art into the brush. It's sad that one mentally unstable person vandalizes and ruins the dogpark for the rest of us.

This park stands out as a true community asset, largely due to its dedication to providing a welcoming space for all dogs, regardless of size or energy level. Visitors consistently praise the friendly atmosphere and the general cleanliness, a testament to the community's commitment to maintaining this valuable resource. It's more than just a place for dogs to run; it’s a vibrant hub where dog lovers connect and create lasting memories with their four-legged family members.
Bandix Dog Park is conveniently located at 13390 Bandix Rd SE, Olalla, WA 98359, USA. Situated in the picturesque Key Peninsula area, the park offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle, while still being easily accessible for residents across the Washington region. Its location in Olalla makes it a fantastic option for those in surrounding areas like Gig Harbor and Port Orchard looking for a dedicated off-leash experience.
Accessibility is a key feature of Bandix Dog Park. While nestled within natural surroundings, it provides practical elements for visitors. There's free parking available nearby, ensuring a hassle-free arrival. The park also boasts double-gated entrances, a crucial safety feature that helps prevent dogs from accidentally running off or getting out of the designated off-leash areas. While parts of the park, particularly along some wooded trails, may not be fully fenced, the primary open areas are enclosed, providing a secure environment for most dogs. It's always a good idea to assess your dog's recall and comfort level in open spaces before venturing too deep into unfenced areas.
As with many outdoor spaces in Washington, especially during the wetter months, visitors should be prepared for potentially muddy conditions after rain. However, the varied terrain also means there are dryer spots and different types of surfaces to explore.
Bandix Dog Park focuses on providing essential services that enhance the dog park experience for both pets and their owners.
- Off-Leash Areas: The primary service is its extensive off-leash space, allowing dogs to run freely, play, and socialize without the constraints of a leash. This is invaluable for canine exercise and mental stimulation.
- Separate Big and Small Dog Areas: To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all dogs, Bandix Dog Park provides designated areas. There’s a space specifically for smaller dogs, which is typically fenced for added security, allowing them to play without being overwhelmed by larger, more boisterous canines.
- Water Availability: Water is available at the park, often refilled by regular visitors. While there isn't a dedicated water fountain, the community effort to keep water bowls filled is a testament to the park's cooperative spirit. It's always a good idea to bring your own water for your dog, especially on warmer days, as a backup.
- Waste Bags and Receptacles: To promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership, waste bags are provided, and trash receptacles are available throughout the park. This helps maintain a hygienic environment for everyone.
- Portable Restrooms: For the convenience of human visitors, portable bathrooms are available on-site.
Bandix Dog Park boasts several features that make it a standout destination for dog owners in Washington:
- Expansive Acres: The park covers several acres, offering a vast amount of space for dogs to roam, run, and explore. This generous size helps prevent overcrowding, even on busy days.
- Diverse Terrain: The park features a mix of environments, including large open grassy areas perfect for throwing a frisbee or ball, as well as winding trails through natural wooded sections. This variety keeps visits interesting for both dogs and their owners.
- Scenic Trails: Many visitors appreciate the trails that meander through the wooded areas. These trails offer a more adventurous experience, allowing dogs to sniff and explore different scents while providing a pleasant walk for their owners.
- Shaded Seating Areas: Benches are strategically placed throughout the park, offering shaded seating for owners to relax while their dogs play. This is especially welcome on sunny days.
- Community Maintained: A significant highlight mentioned by visitors is the dedication of a working group and regular visitors who contribute to the park's maintenance. This community involvement helps ensure the park remains a pleasant experience for everyone.
- Friendly Atmosphere: Reviews frequently highlight the friendly nature of both the people and dogs at Bandix Dog Park, fostering a positive and welcoming environment for newcomers.
It's worth noting that while the park used to feature scattered statues, memorials, and art throughout the woods, some recent vandalism has unfortunately impacted these decorative elements. This is a sad development for regulars who enjoyed these unique touches. Despite this, the core appeal of the park—its open spaces and natural beauty—remains strong.
As a public dog park, Bandix Dog Park generally does not offer traditional promotions or special offers in the commercial sense. Entry to the park is free, making it an accessible recreational option for all dog owners.
However, the "special offer" of Bandix Dog Park is its inherent value as a well-maintained, free-to-use community space that provides immense benefits for both pets and people. The ongoing commitment of volunteers and regular visitors to ensure water is available and the park remains clean is a continuous "promotion" of its community spirit and dedication. Any "offers" would typically come in the form of community clean-up days or events organized by local dog groups, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and enjoyment. Visitors should check local community boards or online dog owner groups for any organized events or volunteer opportunities related to the park.

Dec 18, 2024 · M SVery nice off-leash dog park, large open area, trails through wooded areas. Double-gate entries. Open area is fenced but some of the boundary along the trails is not. We have only been once on a sunny day; I believe it will be muddy after a rain. Water is available, refilled by regular visitors. People and dogs were friendly so definitely on our list for a return visit.
Apr 19, 2025 · Owen O'NealThis is, by far, the best dog park I've ever been to. Fenced off from the parking lot but then an open field and lots of trails for dogs (and their caretakers) to explore. Lots of places to sit and enjoy being outside, plentiful water bowls, and kitschy art pieces all add to the wonderfulness of this park.
Apr 18, 2024 · Georgia ArrowCompletely agree with the positive reviews here! Our pup absolutely loves it and jumps around in the car as I turn into the driveway here. Well maintained trails providing ample opportunity for exercise for both me and the pup. If you want dog socialization that happens too 😁. People have been super friendly. See if you can find these hidden treasures…
Jun 28, 2023 · Lois HoganAt first I just saw the parking lot and didn't think it was much of a park. But there is a whole system of trails through the forest there. Great mid-trip leg stretch if you love dogs and nature!
