I have a small dog and although they have a separate enclosure for him it isn't used.i have had two instances where larger dogs have been aggressive towards my dog and I've had to take my dog to the vet once because of it once. I'm not saying that's always the case most dogs there are great but all it takes is one person bring a dog that isn't. I love the idea and as I said most people are very responsible but all it takes is one act of aggression.

The park is recognized for its "decent space" and the provision of essential amenities like waste bags and water on-site, making visits more convenient for owners. While some larger dog parks may experience overcrowding, Bailey's Crossing aims to offer a consistent experience where most dogs and their owners are responsible and respectful, fostering a positive atmosphere for community enjoyment. It's a testament to the Oak Lawn Park District's commitment to providing valuable recreational opportunities for its pet-owning residents in Illinois.

As a facility managed by the Oak Lawn Park District, accessibility to Bailey's Crossing Dog Park is specifically tailored for its members. Entry into the park is restricted to dogs with a valid permit. Memberships, which are required for access, can be purchased at the Oak View Center, located at 4625 W. 110th Street. ### Services Offered

  • Separate Enclosures for Small and Large Dogs: Bailey's Crossing Dog Park features distinct fenced-in areas, including a separate enclosure specifically designed for smaller dogs (typically under 25-35 lbs). This separation aims to provide a safer play environment for smaller breeds who might otherwise be overwhelmed or intimidated by larger, more boisterous dogs. While usage of the small dog area may vary among visitors, its availability is a key service. The park also typically has two large dog sections, often rotated for maintenance and turf recovery.
  • Waste Baggies Provided: To promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership, the park offers readily available waste baggies at dispenser locations within the park. This convenient service ensures that owners have the necessary tools to clean up after their dogs, helping to maintain a hygienic environment for all users.
  • Water Provided On-Site: Hydration is crucial for active dogs, and Bailey's Crossing Dog Park provides water on-site. This includes drinking fountains with pet fountains attached, ensuring that fresh water is accessible for dogs to quench their thirst after playtime.
  • Membership-Based Access: The park operates on an annual membership basis, available to both residents and non-residents of Oak Lawn. This system helps manage user numbers and contributes to the park's maintenance, while also ensuring that all dogs using the facility have current vaccinations.
  • Paved Dog Wash Station: For convenience after a muddy play session, the park includes a paved dog wash station. This amenity allows owners to rinse off their dogs before leaving, helping to keep vehicles and homes cleaner.
  • Restrooms and Benches: For the comfort of human visitors, the park provides restrooms and ample benches. These seating areas allow owners to relax and observe their dogs in comfort.

### Features / Highlights

  • Designated Small Dog Area: A significant highlight of Bailey's Crossing Dog Park is its dedicated, separate enclosure for small dogs. This feature is crucial for pet parents with smaller breeds, offering a safer and less intimidating environment where their dogs can play with peers of similar size, mitigating potential issues with larger, more boisterous canines. While a past review indicated this area might not always be utilized by all small dog owners, its existence is a key amenity.
  • Ample Space for Play: The park provides a "decent space" for dogs, ensuring plenty of room for running, playing fetch, and socializing. The inclusion of two large dog sections, often rotated to allow for turf maintenance and recovery, ensures a consistently viable and spacious play area.
  • Essential Amenities On-Site: The provision of crucial amenities like waste baggies and on-site water (including drinking fountains with pet attachments) significantly enhances the user experience. These features underscore the park's commitment to convenience and responsible pet ownership.
  • Paved Dog Wash Station: A notable highlight is the paved dog wash station, which is a convenient addition for cleaning muddy paws before heading home. This thoughtful amenity helps keep vehicles and homes cleaner, adding practical value for park users.
  • Secure, Double-Gated Entry: The park features double-gated entry systems, enhancing security by preventing accidental escapes and controlling access. This design contributes to the overall safety of the off-leash environment.
  • Restrooms and Shaded Sitting Areas: For human comfort, the park offers restrooms and shaded sitting areas with benches. These provide comfortable spots for owners to relax and supervise their dogs, making for a more enjoyable and extended visit.

### Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park managed by the Oak Lawn Park District, Bailey's Crossing Dog Park does not typically offer traditional commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the retail sense. Its value is inherent in being a well-maintained, dedicated facility for dog recreation. However, there are structured membership fees that effectively act as its pricing model and a form of "offer" to the community.

The park operates on an annual membership basis, with a tiered fee structure:

  • Resident Annual Fee: $30 (for Oak Lawn residents)
  • Non-Resident Annual Fee: $50 (for those outside Oak Lawn)

These fees are per household, not per dog, with a maximum of three dogs allowed per household (in accordance with Village of Oak Lawn limits). A reduced fee is available beginning November 1st (Resident $15, Non-Resident $25), which could be considered a seasonal "special offer" for late-year memberships.

To obtain a membership, an updated registration form with current vaccination records (Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella) and a stool specimen test result for internal parasites are required. Memberships can be purchased at the Oak View Center. While not a "promotion," the existence of these clear, publicly stated fees and requirements ensures transparency and a consistent operational model for this valuable local amenity in Illinois.

The other review is not true, I am from Chicago and pay a $75 non-resident annual fee($50 resident).Great dog park with a decent space. Baggies and water are provided on site.

Very clean, fenced-in dog park. I like the fact that they have a separate side for the smaller pups like mine. There is a nice water fountain and metal bowls set around for pups to get a drink. There are plenty of places for them to explore and make new friends. The picnic table is great also. They provide poop bags and a clean garbage can to throw away the waste. There is a playground across the street and they have a port a potty near the locking gate.

Not a free park - members only! Park looks lovely, but here I am on a road trip and need a place to exercise my dog so she doesn't get the zoomies at 3am in the hotel... Locals may find it worthwhile. Travelers probably not so much.

Beautiful dog park but nothing to denote it was members only until we arrived. I now have a disappointed pup that was excited to play. They don’t offer day passes for non members / out of towners. I’m not willing to pay $50 and wait a few days to be approved to let my dog play for 30-40 minutes. We’ll find another dog park. Just wish they made it more obvious it was members only so we didn’t drive all the way here before finding out.
