Welcome to 50 Acre Park Dog Park
For dog owners across Illinois, finding a versatile and engaging outdoor space where our furry friends can truly thrive is a significant part of pet parenthood. In the community of Evergreen Park, one such destination stands out, not just as a dog park, but as a part of a larger, vibrant recreational hub: the 50 Acre Park Dog Park. This dedicated off-leash area offers a well-maintained and secure environment for dogs to play, socialize, and get essential exercise, making it a valuable asset for local pet parents.
The 50 Acre Park Dog Park is more than just a typical dog run; it's a fully fenced space designed with both canine and human comfort in mind. It provides distinct sections to ensure safe play for dogs of all sizes, and a range of amenities that enhance the overall experience. What makes this particular park so appealing to Illinois residents, beyond its specific dog-friendly features, is its integration within the broader 50 Acre Park, which offers a variety of activities for the entire family – from a golf driving range to an urban barn with horses and chickens.
This article aims to provide a comprehensive and factual overview of the 50 Acre Park Dog Park in Evergreen Park. We'll explore its location, accessibility, the specific services and features it offers, important information regarding access and potential promotions, and ultimately, why it is a highly suitable and cherished spot for local dog owners and their beloved companions in the Illinois region. Understanding how to access and utilize this unique facility is key to maximizing your visit and appreciating its distinct charm.
The 50 Acre Park Dog Park is located within the larger 50 Acre Park in Evergreen Park, IL 60805, USA. While a precise street address for the dog park itself within the expansive park grounds isn't always individually listed, the broader 50 Acre Park is commonly associated with 91st Street and California Avenue (or Rockwell Avenue), which helps in pinpointing its general location within Evergreen Park. This situates it conveniently for residents of Evergreen Park and surrounding communities in Cook County, Illinois.
Accessibility to the dog park is managed through a specific system: "you will need to register with the village and obtain an access card to use the park." This implies a controlled entry system, likely a "key card access system" as noted for similar parks in the region, which often involves a double-gated entrance for enhanced safety. The fact that a "double-gated entrance for added safety" is a noted feature further supports this. This system, while requiring an initial registration step, contributes to maintaining a "clean and secure environment" and helps ensure that only authorized and responsible users enter the park.
For visitors arriving by car, the park offers "nearby free parking," adding to its convenience. While one review broadly mentions "a lot of activities are available here," including riding horses, tennis, and being close to a golf course and driving range, this indicates the dog park is part of a larger, multi-use recreational complex. This integrated approach means that families with diverse interests can find activities to enjoy within the same overall area. The park also boasts "wheelchair-accessible features," promoting inclusivity for all visitors. Therefore, for Illinois residents, particularly those in the Evergreen Park area, the park's location within a larger recreational hub and its controlled yet convenient access make it a highly desirable destination.
Fully Fenced Off-Leash Area: The park provides a "fully fenced" area where dogs can safely run and play off-leash, offering peace of mind to owners.
Big/Small Dog Separation: A key service is the "separation for big and small dogs," ensuring that pups of different sizes can play comfortably and safely with appropriate companions, reducing potential stress or injury.
Water Fountain: The presence of a "water fountain" allows for on-site hydration for dogs, a crucial amenity, especially during warmer months.
Shaded Seating Areas: "Shaded seating areas for owners" are available, providing comfortable spots for humans to relax and observe their dogs, offering respite from the sun.
Double-Gated Entrance: The park features a "double-gated entrance for added safety," which is essential for preventing dogs from escaping when people enter or exit the park.
Light for Nighttime Visits: "Even light for nighttime visits" extends the park's usability into the evening hours, offering flexibility for dog owners with busy schedules.
Obstacles for Play: Various "obstacles for play" are available, providing opportunities for dogs to engage in agility and mental stimulation beyond just running.
Dog-Friendly Trails: Beyond the off-leash area, the broader 50 Acre Park features "dog-friendly trails" (presumably for on-leash walking, consistent with general park rules), allowing for extended walks and exploration.
Comprehensive Canine Environment: The 50 Acre Park Dog Park is described as a "fantastic spot for furry friends and their owners," indicating a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Enhanced Safety Measures: Key highlights include being "fully fenced" with a "double-gated entrance for added safety," and the crucial "Big/Small Dog Separation." These features prioritize the well-being of all dogs and their owners.
Essential Amenities for Comfort: The provision of a "water fountain" for pups, "shaded seating areas for owners," and "light for nighttime visits" addresses basic needs and enhances comfort regardless of weather or time of day.
Integration with Multi-Use Park: Its location within the larger 50 Acre Park, which features amenities like a "driving range," an "Urban Barn" with "horses in the barn and chickens," and "walking paths," means families can enjoy a diverse range of activities in one location. One review also mentions "sliding on wintertime," suggesting sledding opportunities in the broader park, adding to year-round family fun.
Community and Calm Atmosphere: Customer reviews highlight the "very calm and relaxing" nature of the "entire property," from the dog park to the driving range. This suggests a serene environment conducive to enjoyment for both humans and animals.
Access Card System for Maintenance and Security: The requirement to "register with the village and obtain an access card" helps maintain a "clean and secure environment." This controlled access ensures a more responsible user base.
Free Parking and Accessibility: "Nearby free parking" and "wheelchair-accessible features" contribute to the park's convenience and inclusivity for all potential visitors.
The 50 Acre Park Dog Park operates under the management of the Village of Evergreen Park (or an associated park district, though public information points to Village management for this specific park, sometimes referred to as "Happy Bark" Dog Park at 91st and California). Access to the dog park is not free-for-all but requires registration and the acquisition of an access card, often referred to as a "keyfob." This system acts as a form of controlled access, ensuring that the park is used by responsible and registered pet owners, contributing to its "clean and secure environment."
For Illinois residents, particularly those in Evergreen Park, the fee structure for obtaining this access card serves as a form of resident benefit, rather than a commercial "promotion":
Evergreen Park Residents: The cost for an annual permit is notably affordable. Public data indicates it's typically "$20 for the first dog, with $5 for each additional dog." Additionally, a separate source suggests that for Cook County residents, the first dog might even be "FREE" and the second dog also "FREE," though this might pertain to a different Cook County Forest Preserve permit or an older promotion. It's crucial for residents to confirm the most current pricing directly with the Village of Evergreen Park.
Non-Residents: The cost for non-residents is significantly higher, typically "$50 for the first dog, $10 each additional." Some information suggests a "waiting list" for non-resident permits, indicating priority for local residents.
To obtain an access card, dogs must generally be "registered in the Village of Evergreen Park" (for residents), and have a "current rabies vaccination tag and number." Proof of vaccination is required. The keyfob provides entry, and "No person shall enter the Dog Park or allow an animal to enter the Dog Park without a current working fob." There are also rules regarding the maximum number of dogs (typically three) and that commercial dog walking services may have restricted access.
While direct "promotions" like discounts on other services are not widely advertised for the dog park itself, the affordability for residents serves as a significant ongoing "offer" from the Village. To confirm the most up-to-date permit fees, application procedures, and any specific requirements or rules, Illinois residents should always contact the Village of Evergreen Park directly, ideally the Village Hall, as they manage the dog park registration. This will ensure a smooth process for obtaining access to this community amenity.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the 50 Acre Park Dog Park, including how to obtain an access card, current permit fees, specific park rules, operating hours, and any advisories, it is best to contact the Village of Evergreen Park directly, as they manage the dog park's registration and operations. While no direct phone number for the dog park itself is widely available, contacting the Village Hall is the appropriate channel.
Address: The dog park is located within the larger 50 Acre Park in Evergreen Park, IL 60805, USA. The park is generally found near the intersection of 91st Street and California Avenue (or Rockwell Ave).
Village Hall Contact: While a specific phone number for the dog park isn't consistently listed, the Village Hall of Evergreen Park handles the dog park permits. Their general contact information for public inquiries would be the primary point of contact. Based on public records, the Village Hall is located at 9420 S. Kedzie Ave, Evergreen Park, IL, and their main phone number is typically (708) 422-1540.
Illinois residents planning to visit should proactively reach out to the Village of Evergreen Park, either by phone or by visiting their official website. This step is crucial for understanding the exact process for obtaining a dog park access card, confirming vaccination requirements, and being aware of any specific rules or temporary closures that might be in effect. Being well-informed will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for both you and your canine companion at this valuable community resource.
For dog owners residing in Evergreen Park, Illinois, and the surrounding south suburban communities of Cook County, the 50 Acre Park Dog Park offers a highly suitable and exceptionally convenient option for off-leash recreation. Its thoughtful design, comprehensive amenities, and integration within a larger recreational complex make it a standout destination for local pet parents.
The primary advantage of this dog park is its nature as a "fully fenced" and secure environment. This provides essential peace of mind for owners, allowing their dogs to run freely and express their natural energy without concern for escape. The crucial "Big/Small Dog Separation" is a particularly valuable feature, ensuring that dogs of all sizes can play safely and comfortably with appropriate companions. This reduces the risk of accidents and fosters a more harmonious play environment for all.
Furthermore, the park's dedication to providing essential amenities greatly enhances the user experience. The "water fountain" ensures dogs stay hydrated, a vital consideration during Illinois' varied weather. "Shaded seating areas for owners" offer comfortable spots to relax, and the "light for nighttime visits" extends the park's usability into the evening, providing flexibility for owners with busy schedules. These details highlight a facility designed with both canine and human comfort in mind.
Beyond the dog park itself, its location within the larger 50 Acre Park complex adds immense value for local families. The presence of a "driving range," an "Urban Barn" with farm animals, and other "walking paths" means that a visit to the dog park can easily be part of a broader family outing, catering to diverse interests. This multi-purpose aspect makes it a hub for community activity, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
While access requires registering with the Village and obtaining an access card, this system is a positive for locals. It helps maintain the park as a "clean and secure environment," ensuring that users are responsible and invested in the park's upkeep. The highly affordable annual permit fees for Evergreen Park residents make this high-quality, managed amenity an excellent value and a tangible benefit of living in the area.
In conclusion, the 50 Acre Park Dog Park is an exemplary local resource for Illinois dog owners. Its blend of secure, well-equipped off-leash spaces, thoughtful amenities, and integration into a larger community recreational area makes it incredibly suitable. For those in Evergreen Park and nearby areas seeking a premier, well-managed, and enjoyable environment for their dogs, this park stands as a testament to the community's commitment to providing excellent recreational opportunities for its four-legged residents and their devoted families.

Oct 23, 2024 · MAIDS AROUND CHICAGOI didn't realize they had horses in the barn and chickens, too. The entire property was very calm and relaxing from the dog park to the driving range. There were places by the driving range to sit and relax and have a snack. There are plenty of spots at the range to accommodate people, too - it looked like at least 15 spots.
