Clean (frequently see people hosing it down, so you don’t get the pee smell that’s so pervasive at dog parks), fun space for dogs. Open for Amazon employee’s dog-friendly culture and non-employees. It’s always stocked with poop bags and has a hose to clean up any messes after pickup. Leaning “benches” are great, too.

Welcome to Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park

For dog owners in Washington, particularly those navigating the bustling urban landscape of Seattle, finding a dedicated and well-maintained space for your furry companion to exercise and socialize is a true find. Enter Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park, a unique and often-praised spot that caters to the city's vibrant canine population. More than just a patch of green, this thoughtfully designed dog park offers a clean, engaging, and remarkably convenient experience for both local pups and their human companions. It stands as a testament to Seattle's dog-friendly culture, providing a much-needed urban oasis for off-leash fun.

Located amidst the dynamic Amazon campus, the Day 1 Dog Park embodies a modern approach to pet-friendly urban living. While it's famously part of Amazon's pioneering dog-friendly workplace culture, this park is also openly accessible to the public, making it a valuable resource for all Seattleites. Its design, while compact, is highly functional, focusing on cleanliness and safety for its four-legged visitors. This isn't your typical grassy expanse; instead, it features a durable concrete surface, a practical choice for an urban environment that helps maintain cleanliness and prevents the pervasive "pee smell" often associated with traditional dog parks. The constant attention to cleanliness, with frequent hosing down, sets it apart and ensures a pleasant experience for everyone.

Location and Accessibility

Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park is strategically located in the heart of downtown Seattle, making it an incredibly accessible spot for those living or working in the city center. You'll find it at 2112 6th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121, USA. Its central position places it within easy reach for Amazon employees bringing their dogs to work, as well as for residents in the surrounding South Lake Union and Denny Triangle neighborhoods.

Given its urban setting, accessibility is primarily by foot, public transit, or rideshare. For those driving, finding street parking can be a challenge in downtown Seattle, though paid parking garages are available nearby. The park’s location, adjacent to Amazon's headquarters, means it's well-integrated into the city's pedestrian infrastructure. While specific hours for the public are not widely advertised, the park is generally open during daylight hours, reflecting its primary function as a space for dogs to take breaks throughout the workday. Its highly visible and well-trafficked location also contributes to a sense of safety and community, as there are always people around.

Services Offered

Despite its smaller footprint compared to some suburban dog parks, Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park is equipped with essential services that make it a highly functional and pleasant place for dogs and their owners.

  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: A standout feature highlighted by visitors is the park's exceptional cleanliness. Staff frequently hose down the concrete surface, actively working to prevent odors and maintain a hygienic environment. This proactive approach to sanitation is a significant benefit for users.

  • Poop Bag Dispensers: The park is consistently stocked with pet waste bags, promoting responsible pet ownership and contributing to the overall cleanliness of the area. This essential service makes it easy for owners to clean up after their dogs.

  • Water Hose Area and Fountain: Hydration is crucial for active dogs. The park provides a water hose area, allowing owners to offer fresh water to their pets or even give them a quick rinse. A water fountain is also available, ensuring convenient access to drinking water.

  • Durable Concrete Flooring: The entire fenced dog park area features a concrete surface. While different from traditional grass, this material is chosen for its ease of cleaning and durability in a high-traffic urban setting. It mitigates issues like mud and excessive dirt, which can be common in other parks.

Features / Highlights

Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park offers several unique features that distinguish it as an urban dog park, catering to the specific needs and context of its downtown Seattle location.

  • Urban and Compact Design: While described as "tiny" by some, the park utilizes its space efficiently. It provides a securely fenced-in area ideal for quick breaks, socialization, and a concentrated play session, perfect for city dogs who might not have access to vast open spaces daily.

  • "Leaning Benches" for Humans: Understanding that owners often need a place to rest or observe, the park includes "leaning benches" inside the fenced area. While not full seating, these offer a comfortable support for owners to stand and relax. Actual seating areas are available just outside the fenced perimeter.

  • Dog-Friendly Company Culture Integration: The park is a direct reflection of Amazon's famously dog-friendly workplace. This means the park often hosts a diverse array of well-socialized "office dogs," contributing to a generally positive and calm atmosphere. It's a visible extension of Amazon's commitment to employee well-being, acknowledging the importance of pets in their lives.

  • High Standards of Maintenance: As noted by reviewers, the park is meticulously maintained. The frequent hosing down prevents typical dog park odors, and the consistent stocking of waste bags ensures a pleasant experience for all users. This dedication to upkeep is a significant highlight for visitors.

  • Social Hub: Beyond being a relief area, the park serves as a natural social hub. It's a place where Amazon employees and local residents can meet, share experiences, and allow their dogs to interact, fostering a sense of community among Seattle's dog lovers.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public amenity primarily maintained by Amazon, the Day 1 Dog Park does not typically run commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense. However, its existence itself is a significant benefit to the local community and a testament to Amazon's unique corporate culture.

The "promotion" here is the consistent availability of a free, clean, and well-maintained urban dog park in a high-density area where such spaces are invaluable. This is a continuous "offer" to both Amazon employees and the broader Seattle public.

Furthermore, the park often serves as a backdrop or incidental amenity for larger, Amazon-sponsored public events held on the campus, particularly around the Spheres. While not exclusive to the dog park, these events occasionally incorporate dog-friendly elements or attract dog owners to the area. For instance, Amazon's public tours of its campus or special community days might indirectly showcase the dog park as part of the vibrant, pet-inclusive environment.

Any "special offers" would likely be informal or part of Amazon's internal "Dogs at Work" program perks for their employees, such as reception desks in other buildings stocking dog biscuits or access to other private dog relief areas like the "doggie deck" in the Doppler building for registered employee dogs. For the general public, the enduring "promotion" is the consistent availability of this well-kept urban dog park at no cost.

Contact Information

Given that Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park is an integrated part of the Amazon campus and primarily a public amenity, direct contact information specifically for the dog park itself (a dedicated phone number or email) is not publicly available as it would be for a standalone business.

For general inquiries about visiting the Amazon campus or nearby public amenities, you might refer to Amazon's main visitor information channels, although these typically focus on tours of The Spheres or company-related matters.

The most relevant physical address for locating the park is:

Address: 2112 6th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121, USA

For any broader concerns about public spaces within the Amazon campus, visitors might consider contacting Amazon's general corporate information or public relations if available, but for direct dog park issues, the best approach is often to observe on-site signage or speak with any Amazon security personnel who may be present in the area, as they can direct you to relevant contacts if needed.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Seattle locals, particularly those living in or commuting to the downtown core, Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park is an invaluable resource that seamlessly integrates into the urban fabric. Its suitability for locals stems from several key factors that address the unique challenges of city living with a dog.

Firstly, its central location makes it highly convenient for quick and frequent visits, whether it's for a morning constitutional, a midday break, or an after-work play session. In a dense urban environment where private outdoor space is limited, having a dedicated, off-leash area that is easily accessible is a significant advantage.

Secondly, the park's emphasis on cleanliness and consistent maintenance sets it apart. The concrete flooring and diligent hosing-down mean that owners don't have to contend with muddy paws or lingering odors, which is a common complaint at other dog parks. This commitment to hygiene ensures a more pleasant and worry-free experience for both dogs and their owners.

Thirdly, the community aspect cannot be overstated. While part of a corporate campus, the park is open to the public and fosters a welcoming environment where locals can connect with other dog owners, sharing tips and forging friendships. It's a place where city dogs can safely socialize and burn off energy, crucial for their well-being in an urban setting. The presence of friendly "office dogs" and their owners often contributes to a calm and respectful atmosphere.

In essence, Amazon - Day 1 Dog Park provides a much-needed, well-managed, and clean urban space for Seattle's beloved canine residents. It's a practical, accessible, and positive addition to the local community, making city life more enjoyable for Washington's dog lovers and their cherished companions. It demonstrates how thoughtful design and consistent upkeep can create a valuable amenity, even in the most bustling of city centers.

When it’s not crowded, it’s a great place to bring your dog and hangout with friends. Close to restaurants and downtown so you can run multiple errands right after. Easy to get to with ride share or public transport. Amazon buildings offer free parking after 4:30pm on weekdays. Take advantage and park there if it helps.

This is the worst dog park I’ve ever been to, it’s about the size of a tiny back yard. I’ll never bring my dog back here again. Come on Amazon, do better!
