The owner is really nice and he knows a lot about reptiles. My blue tongue skink loved their quail eggs too. I inquired about a species that I have been looking for, for upwards of 8 months, and he found one within 24 hours and answered my species-specific husbandry questions. They sell a variety of feeder insects as well. Definitely go here! I also want to note that, because this place was so clean when I went (not even a hint of urine/ammonia), I’m wondering if the negative reviews regarding husbandry were perhaps written during a time where the owner was not there and a sub-par employee filled in (just an uninformed guess because it was really, really nice when I went in). Also keep in mind when reptiles poop, sometimes it can’t be cleaned right away- if mine poop when I’m at work it doesn’t get cleaned until I come home. Anyways, I’ll definitely be back. :)

Worms Wiggle In. Pocket Pets. BY APPOINTMENT ONLY Introduce
For reptile and pocket pet enthusiasts in Gainesville, Florida, Worms Wiggle In. Pocket Pets. BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, located at 3601 SW 2nd Ave Ste M, offers a unique and specialized option within the "Pet Store Near Me" category. It's crucial to note upfront, as indicated in their name, that visits to this store are strictly by appointment only. This suggests a business model focused on providing personalized attention and expertise to customers seeking specific types of animals and supplies, particularly within the realm of reptiles and feeder insects.
One of the standout features highlighted in customer reviews is the owner's extensive knowledge about reptiles. One reviewer described the owner as "really nice" and possessing a deep understanding of these fascinating creatures. This expertise is invaluable for reptile owners seeking guidance on husbandry, species-specific care, and sourcing particular animals. The reviewer's positive experience in finding a sought-after species (a blue tongue skink) within 24 hours, after an eight-month search elsewhere, underscores the owner's network and dedication to fulfilling customer needs. Furthermore, the owner's ability to answer species-specific husbandry questions demonstrates a commitment to responsible reptile ownership and the well-being of the animals they sell.
The store also caters to the dietary needs of reptiles, as evidenced by the mention of their blue tongue skink's fondness for quail eggs, which are also sold at Worms Wiggle In. Pocket Pets. The availability of a variety of feeder insects is another significant service for reptile owners, ensuring a consistent and reliable source of appropriate nutrition for their pets. This specialization in reptile-related products and knowledge positions the store as a go-to destination for local reptile keepers.
Another customer review praises the cleanliness of the store, noting the complete absence of urine or ammonia odors. This is a significant positive, as cleanliness is paramount in maintaining a healthy environment for both the animals housed in the store and the customers visiting. The reviewer even speculated that any previous negative feedback regarding husbandry might have occurred during times when the owner was absent and potentially less experienced staff were in charge. This observation suggests that the owner's presence and standards contribute significantly to the store's positive environment and animal care practices.
Beyond reptiles, the store also caters to owners of other "pocket pets," although the specific types of these animals are not detailed in the provided reviews. The name suggests they might offer small mammals like hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, or similar creatures. However, the primary focus in the reviews is clearly on reptiles and their specific needs.
One long-term customer, who has been keeping a ball python for 16 years, attests to the quality of the feeder mice and rats purchased from Worms Wiggle In. Pocket Pets. They specifically highlight the store as "by far the cleanest and best place" they have sourced food for their snake, even preferring to drive further to this location over a closer pet shop. This strong endorsement speaks to the quality and care taken in raising and maintaining their feeder animals, which is crucial for the health of the reptiles that consume them.
The friendly and caring nature of the staff is also mentioned, with one reviewer noting that they inquire about the well-being of their ball python, especially since it had been sick. This personal touch and genuine interest in the customers' pets further enhance the positive experience of shopping at Worms Wiggle In. Pocket Pets.
Given the "BY APPOINTMENT ONLY" nature of the business, the environment might not be a traditional walk-in retail space. It could be a more specialized setup tailored to the housing and care of their reptiles and pocket pets, allowing for focused attention during scheduled visits. This appointment-based system likely ensures that the owner or knowledgeable staff can dedicate their time to each customer, providing personalized service and expert advice.
As the provided information does not include any specific promotional details, local users interested in Worms Wiggle In. Pocket Pets. Jan 10, 2023 · Alyssa WalkerI love this place! The staff are so friendly and care about my ball python and even ask how he is doing since he has been sick. I have been getting mice and rats for my ball python for 16 years and Worms Wiggle In is by far the cleanest and best place I have gotten food for him. There is a pet shop that sells rats closer to my house but I am happy to drive the extra time out to Worms Wiggle In to get quality food for my pet.
Jun 22, 2022 · Dani HeslepI've worked in the animal care field for about 15 years, and I felt so uncomfortable with this place that I left without the crickets I came in for. Reptile enclosures were pathetically decorated (4 sticks and absolutely nothing else for a panther chameleon?!) with no heating or UV lights that we saw, bettas were in cups with noticeably dirty water, and a kookaburra at the front was housed in a cage with nothing to stand on but a blanket at the bottom and no toys or enrichment. We also didn't see any employees despite waiting around the store for at least 5 minutes. I definitely wouldn't go back, and I'll be telling everybody I know to avoid this place.
Oct 01, 2022 · Lindsey JeanThis establishment smells so strong that it is noticeable from the parking lot. Being inside the store is ten times worse. I walked around for maybe 5 minutes. The cages for most of the animals are filthy. I had really high expectations for this establishment because of the pictures and the rating but I was very disappointed. Also, I didn't incounter a employee while I was there. They should really invest in a door chime. Legit the smell was very concerning. Maybe invest in some air purifiers.
Dec 09, 2022 · ValI went to this store for a few months to give it a chance, but I was so sad the last time I went in. None of the animals have the proper caging requirements or any form of enrichment. The kenyan sand boas don’t even have enough substrate to burrow in, the betta fish are in filthy containers with dead flies floating in them. The smell of the store is so awful that I can’t go back anymore. None of the reptiles have proper lighting (UVB), and the staff takes a very long time to get what you came in for. The chameleon they keep is squished in a small cage and doesn’t seem to be misted regularly because the tank is very dry every time I have gone in. I love supporting small business, but it is hard to see the conditions the animals in the store are living in, and the smell is absolutely awful.
