Something Fishy Introduce

For local users in Westland, Michigan, searching under the category "Pet Store Near Me," Something Fishy, located at 954 S Wayne Rd, appears to be a pet store with a significant focus on aquatic life, offering a "Big selection of fresh and salt water fish." Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at this store have been somewhat varied. One customer reported a positive interaction, describing the staff as "very respectful and knowledgeable" and expressing satisfaction with the health and care of the six new fish they purchased, leading to a strong recommendation of the store. This suggests that at least some customers have found the staff to be competent and the aquatic livestock to be well-maintained. However, another reviewer presented a more critical perspective, noting observations of "dead fish on multiple occasions" during visits over a couple of months and describing the store environment as "small and dirty." This same reviewer also expressed concerns about the welfare of small animals, stating they are kept "in really small containers," and found the store's supplies to be "over priced." It's important to note that this critical review includes an update from a later date (August 7, 2019), indicating a potential improvement in tank cleanliness, as the reviewer stated, "The tanks look a lot cleaner and haven't seen any dead fish lately." This update suggests that the store may have addressed some of the cleanliness issues raised. Nevertheless, the concerns about the care of small animals and the pricing of supplies remain unaddressed in the provided information. Therefore, local users considering Something Fishy for their pet needs, particularly for aquatic life, may find the selection appealing, but should be aware of the past cleanliness concerns and the reported issues regarding small animal care and pricing. A personal visit to assess the current conditions and the health of the animals might be advisable.

One customer's positive review highlights the potential strengths of Something Fishy, particularly in terms of staff knowledge and the quality of their aquatic livestock. They stated that "The staff was very respectful and knowledgeable," which is a significant positive attribute for any pet store, as it indicates that customers can receive informed advice and assistance. The outcome of their visit was also positive: "Left with 6 new buddies! Very healthy and well taken care of." This suggests that at the time of their purchase, the fish were in good condition, implying that the store does have the capacity to maintain healthy aquatic life. The reviewer concluded with a clear recommendation: "Definitely recommend!" This positive feedback indicates that some customers have had satisfactory experiences at Something Fishy, particularly concerning the health of the fish and the helpfulness of the staff.

In contrast, another customer's review raises several concerns about the store's environment and animal welfare. Their observation of "dead fish on multiple occasions" over a period of a couple of months is a serious issue that could indicate problems with water quality, tank maintenance, or the health of the fish stock. The description of the store as "small and dirty" further contributes to a negative perception of the environment and potential animal care standards. Beyond the fish, this reviewer also expressed worry about the conditions for other animals: "They do not take good care of the small animals. They are in really small containers." This is a significant ethical concern for potential customers who value animal welfare. Additionally, the reviewer found the store's supplies to be "over priced," which could be a deterrent for budget-conscious shoppers. However, the update provided by this same reviewer ("Update: 8/7/19 The tanks look a lot cleaner and haven't seen any dead fish lately") suggests that some improvements may have been made regarding the cleanliness of the fish tanks and the health of the fish stock since the initial negative observations. Despite this update, the original concerns about the small animal enclosures and the pricing of supplies were not addressed.

Based on these reviews, the environment of Something Fishy in Westland, MI, appears to have had some issues with cleanliness and the presence of dead fish in the past, according to one reviewer. However, a later update suggests that the cleanliness of the fish tanks may have improved, and dead fish were not observed more recently (as of August 2019). The store is described as "small," which might impact the overall shopping experience. There are also concerns raised about the housing conditions for small animals, described as being kept in "really small containers," which could be a significant drawback for customers concerned about animal welfare. The positive review offers no specific details about the store's environment beyond the apparent health of the fish purchased and the respectful demeanor of the staff.

The primary service offered by Something Fishy appears to be the retail sale of a "Big selection of fresh and salt water fish." The positive review indicates that the staff is knowledgeable and can assist customers in their purchases. However, the negative review suggests potential issues with the quality and health of the fish in the past. The store also sells supplies, though these are described as "over priced." There is no mention of services such as grooming, pet adoption partnerships, or specialized advice beyond basic fish care. The negative review also implies the sale of small animals, although the conditions in which they are kept are a concern.

The features of Something Fishy include its potentially large selection of both fresh and salt water fish, which could be a significant draw for aquarium enthusiasts in the area. The staff is described by one reviewer as "very respectful and knowledgeable," which is a positive feature for customer service. A potentially negative feature is the past issue with dead fish and the description of the store as "small and dirty," although there is an indication of improved tank cleanliness. Another significant concern is the reported poor care of small animals in undersized containers. The pricing of supplies being perceived as "over priced" could also be considered a negative feature for budget-conscious shoppers.

The provided reviews do not contain any information about promotional offers or special programs at Something Fishy. Pet stores, especially smaller local ones, might occasionally offer sales on specific types of fish, discounts on tank setups, or promotions related to certain times of the year. Given the mixed feedback, it would be beneficial for potential customers to inquire directly with the store about any current promotions or loyalty programs they might offer. This could help offset the perception of higher prices for supplies.

In conclusion, for local users in Westland, Michigan, searching for a "Pet Store Near Me" with a focus on aquatic life, Something Fishy offers a potentially large selection of fresh and salt water fish and has at least some staff who are knowledgeable and respectful. However, potential customers should be aware of past concerns regarding store cleanliness and the health of the fish, although there is an indication of recent improvement in this area. A significant concern remains about the reported poor care of small animals. Additionally, supplies are perceived as being overpriced. Local users interested in purchasing fish from Something Fishy may find the selection appealing but should consider visiting the store to assess the current conditions and the health of the livestock for themselves. Those interested in small animals or pet supplies might want to consider these reported issues before making a purchase.

Big selection of fresh and salt water fish. I've been there a few times over the last couple months and have noticed dead fish on multiple occasions. The place is small and dirty. When I went today it looks like they finally cleaned some tanks and didn't see any dead fish. They are over priced on all supplies. They do not take good care of the small animals. They are in really small containers. Update: 8/7/19 The tanks look a lot cleaner and haven't seen any dead fish lately.

Been going there since a kid, hope they stay around forever. One of my favorite pet shops.

The fish and tanks are not kept up well, and there are so many sick, dying, and dead fish in the tanks. The substrates are dirty, and you can just walk by tanks and see many dead or very sickly clamp finned fish. The whole place smells really rank, as well, because the tanks aren't maintained and their reptiles/small animals are also not maintained.
