2 weeks ago I drove 1hr and 10minutes to go here because of the google reviews, I bought 26 fish ,10 cardinal tetras, 10 rummy nose tetra and 6 galaxy rasboras. Next day I find out that some of the cardinal tetras have columnaris disease and rummy-nose tetra have ich, spread real quick to all my community tank last saturday, unfortunately some of my older mollies that I had got infected also and passed away, 4 cardinal tetras,1 galaxy rasbora, 1 rummy nose also died. Went back here last saturday to talk about what happened and brought the dead fish, showed the video of the fish that has disease that they sold me to get a refund and I expecting for reply like “I’m really sorry for what happened and this is your refund but naa they like “we need to test you water parameters”, really? Did you even listen to what I said. They tested my water, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and a little bit of nitrates which is great, I saw the fish tank where the cardinal tetras they had are in quarantine😅 Anyway they give me neoplex, and I asked for my refund but they told me to come back when fish is healthy 😅 I literally told them I live in bremerton but nah. My fishes are now is healthy but I already wasted to much resources gas, time and toll bridge, so I called them if they can do my refund via phone told them I already have lot of inconvenience that they caused me for selling me a sick fish, I’m glad they agreed but took a lot of time to get my 28$ refund like common!! In the end got my 28$ refund + dead old mollies that I been with since I started my aquarium ,wasted a lot of gas and + waste total of 5hrs driving. But it’s my fault for trusting you guys :). With all of the inconvenience that they cause me I didn’t get anything only headache, no sorry, nothing at all! Anyway if you buying fish here make sure you HAVE QUARANTINE TANK. and medication for all type of disease ready.

Sierra Fish & Pets Introduce

For pet owners in Renton, Washington, and those in the surrounding areas searching for a "Pet Store Near Me," Sierra Fish & Pets, located at 601 S Grady Way Suite M, Renton, WA 98057, USA, is one of the local options available. This store appears to cater to a range of pet needs, particularly focusing on fish and small animals. However, recent customer reviews provide some insights into the store's operations and conditions that potential local customers may find important to consider.

One detailed review described a customer's experience purchasing a significant number of fish, including cardinal tetras, rummy nose tetras, and galaxy rasboras. Unfortunately, the customer reported that the fish were diseased upon arrival, with cardinal tetras showing signs of columnaris and rummy nose tetras exhibiting ich. This led to a rapid spread of disease within the customer's established community tank, resulting in the death of several new fish and even some older mollies. This incident raises concerns about the health of the fish being sold and the potential risk of introducing diseases into existing home aquariums.

The same customer recounted their return to the store to address the issue, bringing the dead fish and video evidence of the sick ones, expecting a straightforward refund. However, they were reportedly asked to have their water parameters tested instead. While healthy water parameters are crucial for fishkeeping, the customer felt this response dismissed their concern about purchasing already diseased fish. The store eventually provided medication (Neoplex) but initially asked the customer to return when the remaining fish were healthy to receive a refund, which was inconvenient due to the customer's long commute from Bremerton. Although a $28 refund was eventually processed over the phone after further inconvenience and expense for the customer, the overall experience was negative, marked by significant losses of fish, wasted time and resources, and a perceived lack of empathy or apology from the store.

Another customer review painted a concerning picture of the store's physical environment. This review described the premises as "absolutely filthy and overrun with clutter," with specific mentions of rabbit cages filled with feces and a pervasive, unpleasant odor described as musty and smelling of unkept animals. The reviewer also noted dirty floors, boxes of unpacked stock and trash obstructing the aisles, and general neglect indicated by dust and cobwebs. Such conditions suggest a lack of attention to basic hygiene and animal welfare, which could be a significant deterrent for potential customers concerned about the well-being of the animals and the cleanliness of the store.

Furthermore, this review raised serious concerns about the living conditions of the animals. It was reported that axolotls were being housed in betta fish cups, a practice widely considered inadequate for the species' size and needs. The enclosures for other animals, with the exception of some fish tanks that were themselves described as "actively decaying," were also deemed "extremely sub-optimal and upsetting to see." These observations point to potential issues with the store's animal husbandry practices, which could be a major ethical consideration for local pet lovers.

Considering the information available, Sierra Fish & Pets in Renton offers fish and possibly small animals. However, the strong negative feedback regarding the health of the fish sold and the unsanitary and unsuitable living conditions for some of the animals presents significant concerns for potential local customers. The experience of the first reviewer highlights the potential for purchasing diseased animals and the difficulties encountered in resolving such issues with the store's customer service. The second review paints a picture of a poorly maintained environment that may be distressing for both customers and the animals housed there.

Based on these reviews, there is no positive information regarding the environment, services, features, or promotional offers at Sierra Fish & Pets. The feedback primarily focuses on negative experiences related to animal health, store cleanliness, and customer service. Therefore, it is challenging to provide a balanced introduction based solely on the available customer reviews.

Local users searching for a "Pet Store Near Me" will need to weigh these serious negative experiences against their own needs and priorities. If purchasing healthy fish and supporting a clean and well-maintained pet store with appropriate animal care standards are important factors, then the information presented in these reviews suggests caution regarding Sierra Fish & Pets. It would be advisable for potential customers to consider these points and perhaps seek additional information or visit the store themselves to assess the current conditions and practices before making any purchases.

Given the lack of any positive feedback or information about services beyond the sale of fish and small animals, specific features, or any promotional offers, it is impossible to elaborate further on these aspects in a positive light. The available information strongly indicates potential issues that local pet owners should be aware of.

In conclusion, while Sierra Fish & Pets is located in Renton, WA, and falls under the category of "Pet Store Near Me" offering fish and possibly small animals, the recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the health of their livestock, the cleanliness and maintenance of the store environment, and the adequacy of the living conditions for some of the animals. Potential local customers should carefully consider these negative experiences when deciding where to purchase their pets and pet supplies.

This pet store was absolutely filthy and overrun with clutter. The rabbit cages were filled with poop and it smelled horrible inside the store, super musty and smelled like unkept animals. The floors were especially dirty and there were boxes of downstock and trash littering the aisles. Dust and cobwebs all over, overall depressing. Also, their axolotls are stored in the betta fish cups they have at petco. The enclosures for the animals (besides some of the fish, however their tanks are actively decaying) was extremely sub-optimal and upsetting to see.

They have a lot of good stuff here, but their shop is very dirty. They could use some organization as well. Overall, though my experience was very little, but had no issues.

If you get into aquariums I would suggest coming here. I went to about 6 pet stores along the 405, from family owned to main brand retail and this place had the best selection in my opinion. I judge a pet store by the smell and this store passes that test. All good pet stores have that distinct smell. If a pet store doesn’t smell like pets just walk out immediately :) all jokes aside this place has a very cool vibe to it. If anything come check out the fish and buy your dog or cat a treat.

Employees were friendly and kind of helpful, but the bourke's parakeet I got today is now in the emergency vet clinic only a couple hours later. Looking back on these reviews, I'm not confident she's going to make it. I already found it a little off-putting when I was told none of the birds were hand-tamed and they had to be chased down and caught with a net to retrieve them. I feel like hand taming parrots from a young age is very important socializing-wise, but whatever. As soon as I left the store with my bourke parakeet, I noticed her poop was a very pale yellow. Literally anyone who has ever owned a bird would know THAT'S NOT WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE. Over only a few hours she declined scarily fast; she refused to move from a single spot in her cage the entire few hours she spent in there, when she relaxed her tail was bobbing with her breathing and it looked labored, her head kept twitching, and despite *not being hand tamed*, she made little to no effort running away from anyone's hand, and her feathers were unkempt; she had pin feathers on her back and did not once preen herself, she was disinterested in treats or food or water, it was almost as if she didn't have any energy at all. I don't understand. She was flying and active in her enclosure. I was not informed of any health issues whatsoever and I feel like I shouldn't need to ask for every single little bit of VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION. I have no idea what happened to her, but I'm 99% sure that all of this would've been easily avoided with the bare minimum of proper parrot husbandry; I would know because I have owned parrots for years and not a single one has gotten this sick so fast under my care. I have no idea how the birds are cared for here, but it must not be well for me to buy a bird and end up in the veterinary ER not even 5 hours later. This is not normal. This shouldn't happen. This is not okay. And I know for a fact this was not my fault. If you ever consider getting parrots, please please please go to parrot specific stores that actually take care of and pay attention to their birds. Don't do what I did.
