My family recently bought a dog from here. They told us it was a "puppy". You could tell the dog was scared when you approached to pet him. He cowereds down. After taking the dog to the vet that they recommended. The dog is 3-4 years old. Has rotten teeth. His ears are all infected. And he has a larged well healed scar down the center if his face between his eyes. This is obviously not what we where told at the store. We called the "owner". He said he would look into it and take care of us. This was 3 weeks ago no return call as of today 5-8-22. The dog is adjusting well. He has never been trained and for 4 years old you can tell he has never been a part of a family or even in a home. I can honestly say he is loved now and will be well taken care of. As for the "puppy" store we will continue to make this situation right. This is uncalled for and out right horrible. Beaware of the details.

Welcome to Pocket Puppies

Pocket Puppies is a pet store located at 1457 E Palatine Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, USA. Operating within the "Pet Store Near Me" category, this establishment primarily focuses on the sale of puppies, along with likely offering associated pet supplies. For direct inquiries, they can be reached at (262) 857-4365 or +1 262-857-4365. It is important to note that customer experiences with this establishment appear to be notably varied.

The environment of Pocket Puppies, as described by customer reviews, presents a mixed picture. One positive review highlights that "Both Pocket Puppies locations are clean, well organized, and the puppies are happy and healthy." This suggests a well-maintained retail space where animal welfare is visibly prioritized, at least according to some patrons. Such an environment would typically feature well-kept enclosures for puppies, appropriate lighting, and a generally pleasant atmosphere for visitors to interact with the animals. However, a highly critical review offers a starkly contrasting view. This customer described a dog that was "scared when you approached to pet him," "cowered down," and was ultimately found to be significantly older and suffering from health issues (rotten teeth, infected ears) and a well-healed scar. This suggests that while some areas or times might reflect a clean and healthy environment, there could be inconsistencies in the conditions or the transparency regarding the animals' background and health. The physical environment for puppies in a store like this would involve individual or small group enclosures, with access to food, water, and bedding. The overall atmosphere aims to be inviting for potential buyers, showcasing the puppies in a way that encourages adoption, but the reality of the animals' welfare can vary.

Pocket Puppies primarily offers services centered around the sale of puppies. Customers visit the store with the intention of purchasing a new canine companion, and the store likely features various breeds. Beyond the puppies themselves, it is reasonable to infer that the store also provides basic pet supplies essential for new puppy owners. This would typically include starter kits with food, bowls, collars, leashes, and training pads. They might also offer advice on puppy care, feeding, and initial training. The positive review mentions staff being "super friendly, attentive, and extremely professional," suggesting a strong emphasis on customer service during the purchasing process. This would involve guiding customers through breed selection, discussing care needs, and completing necessary paperwork. However, the negative review highlights a significant service failure: the misrepresentation of a dog's age and health, followed by a lack of follow-up from the "owner" regarding the issues. This raises serious concerns about the accuracy of information provided to customers and the store's responsiveness to post-purchase problems. The expectation of buying a "puppy" that turns out to be several years old with significant health and behavioral issues (never trained, never part of a family) points to a critical flaw in their service delivery and transparency. While some customers have had positive experiences with healthy puppies, the negative experience underscores a potential inconsistency in the quality of animals sourced and the subsequent customer support provided.

The features of Pocket Puppies are diverse, reflecting the varied customer experiences. A notable feature, according to positive feedback, is the **friendly, attentive, and professional staff**. This suggests a team that creates a welcoming environment for customers interested in purchasing a puppy. The cleanliness and organization of the store, along with the apparent happiness and health of some puppies, are also highlighted as positive features, indicating a well-managed operation. The store's pricing, while "not the cheapest," is noted for not being "jacked up... because of COVID," suggesting a fairer pricing policy compared to some competitors. The long-term health of a French Bulldog purchased six years prior, even compared to a "champion-sired" dog from another breeder, speaks to the potential for acquiring healthy animals from Pocket Puppies. This provides a strong testimonial for their sourcing in certain instances. However, significant negative features emerge from the critical review. The primary negative feature is the **misrepresentation of animal information**, specifically the age and health status of a purchased dog. This points to a lack of transparency and ethical concerns in their sales practices. The subsequent **lack of responsiveness and follow-up from the "owner"** regarding a critical customer issue is another major negative feature, indicating poor post-purchase customer service and accountability. The fact that the dog was "scared," "cowered down," and seemed untrained suggests potential issues with the animal's socialization or previous living conditions, which would be a serious concern for a reputable puppy provider. The contrasting experiences highlight that while some customers receive healthy, well-adjusted puppies and excellent service, others may encounter significant problems with both the animal's true condition and the store's resolution efforts.

Regarding promotional information, Pocket Puppies likely utilizes the appeal of various dog breeds and the joy of bringing a new puppy home to attract customers. Their positive customer reviews, particularly those praising the staff and the health of their purchased puppies, would serve as strong word-of-mouth promotion, encouraging potential buyers to visit. The fact that they have "two Pocket Puppies locations" suggests a successful business model that has allowed for expansion, which itself can be a form of promotion, indicating a level of reliability and popularity. While specific deals or campaigns are not provided, pet stores selling live animals often promote the availability of specific breeds, upcoming litters, or perhaps offer starter packages with a new puppy. The mention that they "haven't jacked up their puppy prices to ridiculous levels because of COVID" can be seen as a subtle promotional point, indicating a commitment to fair pricing even during periods of high demand. However, the severe negative review acts as a significant counter-promotion, directly warning potential customers to "Be aware of the details" and calling the experience "uncalled for and out right horrible." Such public criticism, especially concerning the honesty of sales and the welfare of animals, can severely damage a store's reputation and deter new customers. The owner's alleged lack of follow-up further amplifies this negative perception. Therefore, while Pocket Puppies may attract customers through the inherent appeal of puppies and positive experiences, the stark contrast in customer feedback suggests that potential buyers should conduct thorough research and exercise caution, potentially vetting the specific animal's background and health independently, before making a purchase.

I don't know how anyone had a bad experience at this store- Every time my wife and I visited, the staff has been super friendly, attentive, and extremely professional. Although not the cheapest place to purchase a pet, at least they haven't jacked up their puppy prices to ridiculous levels because of COVID (like other pet stores in the area have)! Both Pocket Puppies locations are clean, well organized, and the puppies are happy and healthy. We purchased our French Bulldog from Chicago 6 years ago and we adore her! In fact, she is healthier than our other "champion-sired" Frenchie that we purchased from a very reputable, award- winning breeder. When the time comes to add to our family, we will be back here for our next pup.

This place is filthy, smells HORRIBLE… these dogs are depressed and obviously sick. These employees claim that these dogs are from shelters, if they are, why in the world would you pay $3000+ for a “shelter” dog here when you can just go to a shelter, where these dogs are vaccinated, spayed, and taken care of. Lazy owners and employees, who blame their lack of care for the dogs on a HUMANE PET LAW. So sad to be in here.
