I recently purchased one of the leopard geckos from this location and he is doing great. We were looking at the reptile tanks that were on sale and a young man named Ben stopped to check on us. He was so helpful and even asked us before we purchased the gecko if we knew anything about it and that he could gain us some knowledge about the creature. After we purchased everything he even offered to help us carry the tank out to the car, to which we have a nice conversation and found out we both were born in the same city. Such a pleasure and will definitely be coming back.

Petco Introduce
For pet owners in Clermont, Florida, seeking a well-known national pet retail chain within the "Pet Store Near Me" category, the Petco located at 2565 State Rte 50, Clermont, FL 34711, USA, provides a local option. They can be contacted by phone at (352) 227-5334 or their mobile number, +1 352-227-5334.
Petco is a large retailer of pet supplies, live animals, and pet services with numerous locations across the United States. This particular store in Clermont aims to serve the local community by providing a wide array of products for various types of pets, including dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, birds, and small animals. Based on the limited customer feedback available online for this specific Clermont location, experiences appear to be somewhat varied.
One customer shared a positive experience regarding the purchase of a leopard gecko. They noted that the gecko was doing well after the purchase. This suggests that the reptile section at this Petco location maintains healthy animals for sale. The reviewer specifically commended a young employee named Ben, who approached them while they were looking at on-sale reptile tanks. Ben was described as "so helpful" and proactively inquired about the customer's knowledge of leopard geckos, offering to provide additional information before the purchase. This indicates a level of care and responsibility from at least one staff member in ensuring customers are well-informed about the animals they are considering bringing home. Furthermore, Ben's assistance extended beyond the purchase, as he offered to help carry the tank to the car, leading to a pleasant conversation with the customer, who discovered a shared birthplace with Ben. This positive interaction left a lasting impression, with the customer stating they would "definitely be coming back."
However, another customer recounted a less favorable experience related to the purchase of a bird. The reviewer described the service their wife received as "kind of bizarre." According to this account, the staff member provided information, which is generally expected when purchasing a pet. However, the situation escalated when the manager was summoned, and there was an insistence that the customer did not know enough, leading to repeated explanations "just to be cautious." The reviewer perceived this interaction as "really dramatic" and ultimately expressed reluctance to make future bird purchases at this location. This negative experience extended to the reviewer's overall impression of the store, stating that they often receive a "hard time" whenever they go in to purchase something, making it difficult for them to "patronize this business."
Considering these two contrasting reviews, it is challenging to form a comprehensive picture of the typical environment and service at this Petco location in Clermont. The positive review highlights a helpful and engaging staff member in the reptile section, suggesting that at least some employees are knowledgeable and customer-oriented. The willingness to offer information and assistance with carrying purchases indicates a degree of customer care. The mention of on-sale reptile tanks implies that Petco may offer promotional pricing on certain items, which could be a draw for budget-conscious pet owners.
On the other hand, the negative review raises concerns about the consistency of customer service, particularly in the bird section. The perceived overzealousness and insistence on the customer's lack of knowledge, coupled with the involvement of the manager, suggests a potentially rigid or perhaps overly cautious approach to sales in certain departments. This could be off-putting to customers who feel they are being treated condescendingly or unnecessarily scrutinized.
As a large national chain, Petco stores typically follow a standardized layout and offer a wide range of pet supplies, including food, toys, bedding, and accessories for various animals. They also commonly sell live animals, such as fish, small mammals (like hamsters and guinea pigs), reptiles (like leopard geckos), and birds. Many Petco locations also offer services such as dog grooming, veterinary clinics (often third-party), and pet training classes. However, the specific availability and quality of these services at the Clermont location are not detailed in the provided reviews.
The environment of the Clermont Petco is likely to include designated areas for different types of pets and their supplies. There would be tanks and enclosures for the live animals, aisles stocked with retail products, and potentially separate areas for grooming or veterinary services. The cleanliness and organization of the store are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, although the positive reptile purchase suggests that the animal habitats are at least adequate for the animals' well-being.
The services offered at this Petco likely include the sale of live animals (reptiles and birds are specifically mentioned), and a wide variety of pet supplies for dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, birds, and small animals. Based on the national Petco model, it is probable that this location also offers grooming services for dogs and possibly other animals. There might also be a Banfield Pet Hospital or similar veterinary clinic located within or adjacent to the store, although this is not confirmed in the reviews. Pet training classes could also be available.
Features of this Petco location likely include its convenient physical location in Clermont, making it accessible to local residents. The availability of live animals, such as leopard geckos and birds, caters to those looking to acquire pets. The presence of staff, like Ben, who are knowledgeable and helpful in specific departments (in this case, reptiles), can be a significant feature. The potential for on-sale items, as mentioned with the reptile tanks, can also be attractive to customers seeking value.
Information regarding specific promotional offers at the Clermont Petco is not provided in the reviews. As a national chain, Petco typically has ongoing promotions, seasonal sales, and a loyalty program (Petco Pals Rewards) that offers discounts and rewards to frequent shoppers. Local users are advised to check the Petco website or visit the store to inquire about current promotions, sales events, and how to join their rewards program.
In conclusion, the Petco in Clermont, FL, offers a local option for pet supplies and potentially live animals and services. Customer experiences appear to be mixed, with one positive interaction highlighting helpful and knowledgeable staff in the reptile section and another negative experience detailing perceived overbearing service during a bird purchase. The store likely provides a standard Petco environment with a wide range of products and potentially grooming and veterinary services. For local pet owners, it may be worth visiting this Petco location to assess their specific needs and interact with the staff directly. To learn about current promotions and the full range of services offered, contacting the store or checking the national Petco website for local details is recommended.

Apr 04, 2025 · Jey BeeMy wife recently bought a bird here and the service that she experienced was kind of bizarre. It’s one thing to give a little bit of information or even a lot of information, but then summon the Manager and kind of insist you don’t know what you need to know and overexplain again just to be cautious. It was really dramatic. Long story short at some point I’m gonna buy another bird and I don’t think I’ll spend the money here. It’s hard for me to patronize this business when everything I go in there for they give me a hard time about.
Apr 10, 2025 · John AceWent into the store last week with my mom to try and get my new dog we adopted something for her allergies . We were helped by Ben who was super helpful and the friendliest worker I have ever encountered at any store. He listened to what we were saying and recommended products that Petco carries but also suggested other things if the supplements did not work and said his dog has the same issues. Made me feel at ease to know there are things out there to help my dog.
Mar 19, 2025 · antonio41501I can definitely tell there is a big management issue going on in the store… it may be organized… but the lack of care for the animals is quite sad … advertisements that are expired up still on shelves and a bunch of dead fishes i walked out as soon as I saw both… I work in store management and just to walk in and see the store not to standards and dead fish that are infected the other healthy fish with all the staff on shift there was it’s completely unacceptable
