Do not take your dog to get groomed here! Today I took my dog in for the first time. As we were getting checked in by a very nice young lady, I saw one of the other groomer's working on a clearly anxious dog. She had an attitude, and was callous toward the dog, pushing him around the grooming table because she was frustrated he wouldn't stand. I immediately got a bad feeling, but I left my dog with the nice young girl. As I was standing in line it occurred to me that this was his first time back in a public groomer's (we'd had someone coming to the house before we moved to this area) and I wanted him to have a good experience. When I voiced my concern to the cashier she called forth the manager. I expressed my fears in a cool and collected manner and told her I would prefer the other groomer work with my dog if possible or I would be happy to take him home. She went back to the grooming center and told the groomer I had called her aggressive - which I didn't say. I clearly said she hadn't been beating dogs or anything - I just didn't want her handling my dog if she wasn't a dog person. The manager came back and told me the groomer had cancelled the appointment and wanted to confront me because she was offended - an aggressive move and clearly demonstrating the vibe that I was concerned about. I gladly took my dog home. It's now a couple of hours later and I went to schedule my dog with another Petco where I know the staff (it's just a bit farther than I'd like to go) and guess what - they blacklisted my dog. Officially it says that I can't make online appointments because my dog demonstrated "a sensitivity to grooming". This is a lie. He was not at all groomed by these people. So basically don't come here - if you dare speak out against the mistreatment of animals the employees will conspire to keep you from making appointments. I'll be taking up this incident with corporate. Completely unprofessional.

We came a little late for my Puppys vaccination. Approached the registration and was asked to fall in line. Another customer was late and was accomodated. When it’s our turn on the line, she said she cancelled all that who did not come on time and that we should call for another appointment. Very, very disappointing . If she sent all the late comers home, I would understand. But I saw it right before my eyes that she accommodated the other customer who was late and was not even inline. We even said we can wait until everybody’s done, but she still refused to accommodate us. NEVER will come in this store ever again.

We’ve had mixed experiences in this Petco, but most of the time it feels like we’re imposing on the staff by being there. They don’t really interact with their customers, but when they do, they’re not happy about it. There’s usually a wait at checkout for no clear reason except a lack of focus and effort. Prices are standard for Petco, which means fine but higher than Pet Food Express (located in the shopping center with the Raley’s at the other side of Alameda).

I come here to buy crickets for my pets and sometimes take pictures of their beautiful assortment of colorful and exotic animals. Lisa, one of the employees, was making the tanks look clean and visually appealing with her own personal touch. I appreciate the work the staff do to make their customers feel listened to.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO GET GROOMED HERE. I was canceled last minute, but I agreed to go the next day. They told me that the cut would really be a shave because she was “patchy”. I told them to just brush her and they denied. Please know that I groom my puppy every week, so I didn’t understand the problem, but I agreed for them to shave bit around the harness area and just cut down what they can. This was going to be her first cut and I specifically told them that if she was not handling the sanitary cut well to NOT CUT THE REST OF HER HAIR. They said it would take 2-3 hours. It took over 3 1/2 hours for them to call me, tell me that they didn’t finish the work because she was too stressed and started to nip at them, and to just come pick her up. They told me to reschedule for another time to finish the cut and told me I could pay later. I wasn’t sure why they didn’t let me pay, but I understood why once I got home. My pup wasn’t even blowed-dried after the cut. She had chunks of hair coming out of her. They didn’t even try to groom her tail area and they gave her a rash around her lips, shaved off her whiskers. Please note that my puppy doesn’t bite humans, she barely even barks or growls. She is the sweetest pup to humans and other dogs and I have never heard of her being mean to humans so this came as a surprise to me. I believe they stressed her out so much and irritated her skin that she got to that level and started nipping. PLEASE DONT GO HERE. I have pictures of her before the cut, after the cut, and how she was supposed to look.
