I'm conflicted about this review, and will give details as to why below. My wife and I stopped in to get supplies for our new dog. A staff member walked up to us and gave us a booklet with coupons in it and gave us a brief and informative rundown on how to use coupons and on what items they would apply to. He was very nice and helped us as much as he could, so that individual gets a solid 5 stars. However, we get to the register and the staff member looked as if we were inconveniencing her. We had other pet-related things in the cart from a different store and as I was removing those other items, I mentioned they were from another store. She said "yeah, obviously" and proceeded to tell us why she didn't shop at the store I had mentioned because she didn't support their political choices. She then tried to hard sell us on their membership program, to which we kept declining. She would add "really?" And kinda scoff after each no we gave. After we finished checking out, she said nothing further to us and, somehow, became even more rude towards us than she was previously. The first staff member was excellent but the second ensured that we will be choosing other locations before coming back to this one. If it wasn't for the first staff member, this would have been an easy one star. PS: the first staff member forgot to mention that the coupon book was only for members, so be aware of that if they hand you something similar.

Petco Introduce
For pet owners in Boulder, Colorado, Petco, located at 2480 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80302, USA, offers a local option for pet supplies. You can contact them at (303) 544-1888 or +1 303-544-1888. Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at this Petco can be somewhat varied, with some staff members being highly helpful and others less so. This "Pet Store Near Me" appears to have a good selection of products and offers some positive interactions, but also areas where customer service could be improved.
One customer shared a mixed review, detailing both a very positive and a very negative staff interaction. Upon entering to purchase supplies for a new dog, they were approached by a staff member who provided a booklet of coupons and explained how to use them and on which items they applied. This staff member was described as "very nice" and "helpful," earning a "solid 5 stars" from the reviewer. This positive initial interaction highlights the potential for excellent customer service at this location.
However, the experience at the register was markedly different. The cashier was perceived as inconvenienced by the customers. When the customer was removing items from another store from their cart and mentioned this, the cashier responded with "yeah, obviously" and proceeded to share her reasons for not shopping at the other store due to its political choices. Following this, the cashier reportedly tried to aggressively sell the Petco membership program, scoffing after each time the customers declined. The interaction ended with the cashier being even ruder than before and offering no further pleasantries. This negative experience led the reviewer to state that they would likely choose other locations in the future.
Adding a postscript, the reviewer also noted that the helpful first staff member had forgotten to mention that the coupon book was only for members, which is an important piece of information for other customers receiving similar offers.
In contrast to this mixed experience, another customer shared a more positive review. They praised the "good selection" of products and the "nice people" working there. This reviewer specifically appreciated the staff's friendly approach, noting that they always ask for permission before petting, touching, or giving treats to their dog. This considerate behavior made their pup feel more comfortable in the potentially distracting environment of the store. This customer found the store to be a valuable place to help their young pup practice impulse control and socialization. They also mentioned being pleased when specific products they rely on, such as "Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream" dog food and certain treats, are in stock.
However, this second reviewer also pointed out a limitation in the product selection, specifically the lack of fancy feast pate seafood varieties for their geriatric cat with a chicken allergy and dental issues. This necessitates shopping at multiple locations or ordering online, though the reviewer acknowledged this was "ok."
Based on these reviews, we can gather the following about the Petco in Boulder:
- Product Selection: Generally good, with a variety of dog and cat supplies, including specific brands like Taste of the Wild. However, there may be gaps in certain specialized dietary needs, such as specific cat food varieties.
- Staff Friendliness: Experiences vary significantly. Some staff members are very nice, helpful, and considerate, while others can be perceived as rude and pushy.
- Coupons and Membership: Coupons may be offered, but they might be exclusive to members. The membership program is promoted, sometimes aggressively.
- Environment: The store has a selection of products that meet various needs, and some staff create a welcoming atmosphere, especially regarding interactions with pets.
- Services: Beyond retail, the store implicitly supports dog socialization by allowing interactions with friendly staff. Dog training might also be a service, given the focus on managing a young pup in a distracting environment.
There is no specific promotional information mentioned in these reviews, other than the coupon book offered to new customers, which was later clarified to be for members only.
In conclusion, the Petco at 2480 Arapahoe Ave in Boulder offers a decent selection of pet supplies and has staff members who can be very helpful and friendly, contributing positively to the experience of being a "Pet Store Near Me." However, there are also reports of less satisfactory customer service interactions. Potential shoppers might find a good range of products for their pets, but should be aware that experiences with staff can vary. If you value friendly and helpful service, it appears that some employees at this location excel in this area, while others may not meet those expectations. It might be worthwhile to visit and form your own impression.

May 03, 2025 · Evan BillsGood selection, nice people. Staff is friendly and always asks if it is ok to pet/touch/give treats to my pup first which is so great. And it makes him feel much more comfortable when he is approached that way too. So it’s nice to come in and say hi and help him practice impulsive control, meeting new people, and listening to me/commands in a very distracting environment for a young pup. Much appreciated! And love it when the flower cookies, pumpkin rings, and his dog food (taste of the wild pacific stream- he’s a standard poodle with a sensitive stomach and picky taste) are in stock. Do wish they carried fancy feast pate seafood varieties for my geriatric cat with chicken allergy and half a mouth of teeth. So didn’t have to make multiple stops or orders but that’s ok.
Nov 16, 2023 · Taylor CravenI love this PetCo! I live in Lafayette, but drive to Boulder specifically just to shop here. They have an enormous assortment of products and the store is always spotless. I have had several positive interactions with the store manager (Daniel), and while all the employees are super helpful and friendly, Riley (spelling?!) is extra kind to my 2 year old daughter whenever we are checking out—which means the world to her, and me! I can’t recommend this place enough!
Jan 20, 2025 · Venessa BegleyThank you employee Sonic for your thoughtful customer service when I was getting a toy for my dog after spending much time and money at the vetco clinic attached where she got emergency stitches. A toy was placed in the incorrect bin so he wasn't able to offer the full discount but he did offer a part of a discount in place without me asking which was very considerate and just what was needed! I am sure to visit often this store.
Feb 12, 2025 · Beau ForteDO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS CLINIC. If you're a pet owner looking for healthcare providers in the Boulder area, please read this review. I brought my Labrador puppy here for treatment of vomiting. After X-rays, I was told that my dog's stomach had flipped and would need immediate emergency surgery to fix it, costing in the realm of $6-8K without insurance (he was a puppy I had just adopted, so my insurance was not in place yet). This clinic sent me to a veterinarian emergency hospital an hour away, where I believed I would have to surrender my dog permanently in order to save his life (who has $6-8K just lying around like that?). At that next hospital, new X-rays were taken and determined that "stomach flip" was grossly misdiagnosed, and I was able to take my dog home almost immediately. Once I finally got my X-rays from this clinic, after having to pester them for them for a week, I had them sent to multiple veterinary experts for second opinions, and every secondary pair of eyes said that this diagnosis was incredibly poor. It's one thing to misdiagnose a patient, but to get it so laughably wrong, AND when that diagnosis has me in emotional distress about losing my dog's life or losing all my money to save him, that's unacceptably unprofessional and frustrating. When speaking to several other vet experts, I was told repeatedly that I actually had grounds to sue Petco for their malpractice, but luckily for them, I will likely not be going down that route. I know they're cheaper than other clinics, but Petco does NOT hire vet doctors or techs that know what they're doing, and it nearly cost me having to cut open my dog for a multi-thousand dollar surgery he didn't need at all. They will never receive another dollar of my money, and they should not receive yours either. If you care about your animal, please hear this review, spend the extra bit of money, and go to veterinary professionals who actually know what they're doing.
