Welcome to New Wave Aquaria
Welcome to a detailed introduction of New Wave Aquaria, a pet store located at 14100 23rd Ave N, Plymouth, MN 55447, USA. Operating under the platform category "Pet Store Near Me," New Wave Aquaria appears to be a premier destination for reef and saltwater aquarium enthusiasts. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the store's environment, services, and features based on the available online customer reviews. This information is intended for local users in Singapore who may be researching specialized aquatic pet stores in the Plymouth, Minnesota area, perhaps due to travel or relocation plans involving saltwater aquariums or interests in reef keeping.
As a "Pet Store Near Me" with a name like New Wave Aquaria, it is evident that this establishment specializes in saltwater and reef aquarium systems. The customer reviews strongly support this, with one reviewer stating it's a "one-stop shop for everything you need for Reef/Salt Water" and hailing it as "truly a ‘New Wave’ in the Reefing community." This suggests that the store caters specifically to hobbyists interested in marine aquariums, ranging from beginner setups to advanced reef tanks.
The environment of New Wave Aquaria is described as "beautiful" by one visitor who was impressed during their brief visit. This suggests that the store takes pride in its layout and the presentation of its livestock and products. A well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing environment can enhance the shopping experience and reflect the quality of the aquatic life being offered. Given their specialization, it's likely that the store features numerous display tanks showcasing healthy and vibrant saltwater fish and corals, providing inspiration and a clear view of potential purchases.
The services offered by New Wave Aquaria likely include not only the sale of livestock and supplies but also expert advice and guidance on setting up and maintaining reef and saltwater aquariums. The "very helpful and friendly" staff mentioned by one reviewer indicates a commitment to customer service and a willingness to assist both newcomers and experienced hobbyists. For those new to reef keeping, the staff would likely provide essential information on equipment selection, water parameters, and the care requirements of different marine organisms. For more experienced reefers, they could offer insights into advanced techniques and the latest products in the hobby.
Features that make New Wave Aquaria stand out, according to the reviews, include their "big selection of frags" (coral fragments used for propagation) and an "unmatched" selection of fish and coral in the Twin Cities area. This suggests a diverse and high-quality inventory of marine life, catering to a wide range of tastes and budget levels. One reviewer specifically mentions price points ranging from "High End ($1,000 Ultra Acantho)" to more affordable options ("$20 OG Green Stylos"), indicating that they stock both rare and common specimens. The availability of a wide variety of coral and fish is a significant draw for saltwater enthusiasts looking to populate their tanks with unique and healthy organisms.
Another notable feature mentioned in the reviews is the presence of "lots of BOGO opportunities" (Buy One Get One). This type of promotional offering can provide significant value to customers and suggests that New Wave Aquaria actively seeks to attract and retain customers through special deals. Such promotions can be particularly appealing for those looking to stock their tanks or purchase multiple items.
The fact that one reviewer, who was visiting from out of town, stated, "There is nothing even remotely similar anywhere near me," underscores the specialized nature and potentially unique offerings of New Wave Aquaria within its region. This suggests that it may be a go-to destination for reef and saltwater enthusiasts in the broader area.
While the reviews highlight the excellent selection and helpful staff, they do not provide specific details about other potential services. Specialized aquarium stores sometimes offer services such as custom aquarium building, maintenance services for established tanks, water testing, and even livestock quarantine facilities to ensure the health of the animals being sold. Given the focus on high-end and delicate reef systems, it's possible that New Wave Aquaria offers some of these more specialized services.
Promotional information beyond the "lots of BOGO opportunities" is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews. However, it is common for specialized pet stores to have ongoing promotions, loyalty programs, or special events. To learn about any current promotions, new arrivals, or specific services offered by New Wave Aquaria, it would be best to contact them directly via phone at (763) 710-9386 or mobile at +1 763-710-9386. Mar 08, 2025 · Christopher GruenwaldAbsolutely stunning! One stop shop for everything you need for Reef/Salt Water. Truly a “New Wave” in the Reefing community. The fish and coral selection, are unmatched in the Twin Cities. Price points both at High End (1,000$ Ultra Acantho) to (20$ OG Green Stylos). Lots of BOGO opportunities.
Feb 02, 2025 · Daniel AndersonWe love this place! We go to new wave sometimes twice a week! Sometimes we don't even buy anything but we want to look at their new stuff. This place always has the most beautiful corals. They take such good care of their livestock and it really shows. Everything is thriving when we bring it home. We are obsessed with their selection of torches, octospawn, and gonis and can't help ourselves. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful.
Feb 13, 2024 · Kacie WarrenThis is a very good store to go to for fish, corals and inverts! Personal preference but I do think equipment like skimmers and lights are a bit expensive like a premium product. I bought a couple of fish before here including dry rock but since I was a beginner I was not told about your supposed to cure the dry rock before putting it in the tank and so I accidentally nuked my tank. My fault but I wish they would tell me about that since I did state before that I was a beginner. They mixed up a couple of corals when I wanted a green polyp and xenia but fixed the issue right away. The store has problems but the good outweigh the negative and also the staff are very knowledgeable about the fish. 👍
Feb 21, 2025 · Mr. M3apOrdered my first fish ever from these folks, was sent a completely emaciated ruby scooter :( no real hope of survival. Have an iou with them for another fish will have to see if the next is any better but at this point I'd definitely not recommend shopping here. I just got a call from New wave with sincerest apologies for the fish I received and promises to make it right with a replacement when my other fish comes in. Jen has been extremely responsive to make this right. I am hopeful that this can turn into a good transaction and potentially a quality reef supply since those are hard to find today. Update 1-27-24.. I recieved my replacement order this past week and this was much better service! Jen has been awesome to deal with to correct the initial issue and make things right, the fish I finally recieved were much more healthy looking and stand a good chance at survival etc. I also added some sps frags to this order and I recieved some beautiful chunky cuts of the pieces I selected, they arrived colorful and exactly as I would expect with some a decent bit larger than advertised. I feel like Jen and her team have some great stock and care about the animals they sell unlike some other stores I have shopped with. But, there do seem to be some communication issues in the company, I hope they keep moving forward and can work on their system to offer the great service the first time so replacement orders etc arnt needed in the future.
