Now that I’ve had time to cool off, please avoid this place all cost!! I had a 2:30pm grooming appointment yesterday for my 8lb havanese. I just chose the groomer who had availability, and went against my better judgement because the groomer that was assigned (Junior) looked incredible sketchy online. I arrived to my appointment early around 2:20pm, and before he even touched my dog, he said she was matted. She was not matted AT ALL, I literally combed/dematted her the night before. However, he insisted on taking her to the back and doing a quick blow dry to check for matting. He came back and said the COLLAR area was matted and that there would be an extra charge. I said whatever because the collar area does get matted often. So my dog was brought to the back at 2:30pm on the dot and I went about my way. At 4:08pm, I had a missed call/voicemail from him advising that she was matted in the middle of her back and needed to be shaved. I let them know that I did not want her shaved/was on my way to get her because it’s the middle of freaking winter and I didn’t want my dog to be cold. I live less than 10 minutes away from there and got there around 4:20pm to pick her up. When I got there, they kept asking me if I could come back tomorrow because she wasn’t in a good state. They bring her out to me, and she was partially groomed on her back. I then told them to just go ahead and shave her because she looked kind of crazy. The groomer then proceeded to tell me that my dog was his last appointment of the day and that he was off at 5pm and couldn’t do it. Mind you, the appointment was at 2:30pm and he didn’t start until 4pm, and now he doesn’t have time to shave my tiny dog? You cannot make this up!! Then later that day, my husband called and proceeded to give them a piece of his mind and they said that I signed a waiver which authorized them to shave my dog. Yes, I did sign the waiver (because I had to), so why didn’t they just shave her before calling me? And why didn’t they tell me that they started grooming her on the voicemail? Also, the groomer blow dried her earlier and only said her collar area was matted, then all of a sudden her back was matted too? The entire staff is shady and grimey!!! Also, they kept referring to my dog as ‘he’ even though she was clearly a girl with a bright pink collar AND they never asked for my vaccine forms. That stuff seems minor, but it goes to show that they’re in the grooming business only to make money, they do not care about dogs!!! Luckily, PetSmart was able to fix her up the next day - and they said she was NOT MATTED.

Kriser's Natural Pet Introduce

For pet owners in the vicinity of N Milwaukee Ave in Chicago, Illinois, who are searching for a "Pet Store Near Me," Kriser's Natural Pet at 1658 N Milwaukee Ave suite d, Chicago, IL 60647, USA, is a local establishment offering a range of pet products and grooming services. They can be contacted at (773) 235-1790 or their mobile number +1 773-235-1790. While the name suggests a focus on natural pet products, it is essential for potential customers to consider recent feedback regarding their grooming services before making a decision.

Two recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture of the grooming experiences at this particular Kriser's Natural Pet location. The first review details a highly negative encounter involving a grooming appointment for a small Havanese dog. The customer arrived early for a 2:30 pm appointment and was immediately told by the assigned groomer, Junior, that their dog was matted, despite the owner having thoroughly combed the dog the night before. The groomer insisted on a blow dry to check for matting and then claimed matting specifically in the collar area, resulting in an extra charge.

The situation escalated when, around 4:08 pm, the groomer called to report matting in the middle of the dog's back and suggested shaving. The owner explicitly declined the shave due to the winter weather and their proximity to the store. Upon arriving at 4:20 pm, the staff reportedly asked the owner to return the next day, stating the dog was not in a good state. The dog was then presented partially groomed on the back. When the owner agreed to a shave at this point, the groomer allegedly stated that it was his last appointment and he couldn't complete it by his 5 pm departure time, despite a significant portion of the appointment window having passed without the groom commencing.

Further complicating the issue, the owner's husband later called the store and was informed that a waiver authorizing shaving had been signed. The customer questioned why the shave wasn't done before the call about matting and why the partial grooming wasn't mentioned in the voicemail. The customer also noted inconsistencies in the groomer's assessment of matting (initially only the collar, then suddenly the back) and unprofessional behavior from the staff, including misgendering the dog and not requesting vaccine records. The reviewer concluded by strongly advising others to avoid the grooming services at this location and mentioned that another pet grooming service found no matting on the dog the following day.

The second review echoes the negative sentiment regarding grooming services. This customer took their Goldendoodle for grooming and was informed that due to some matting in the tail and around the ears, a regular groom was not possible, and a complete shave-down was necessary. The reviewer expressed dismay at the drastic result, stating their dog looked unrecognizable and included before and after pictures to illustrate the extent of the shave. This review further suggests a potential issue with the groomers' assessment of matting or their approach to handling it, leading to unsatisfactory and potentially unnecessary extreme solutions.

Considering these two recent and detailed negative reviews specifically concerning the grooming services at this Kriser's Natural Pet location, potential customers should exercise caution and perhaps seek grooming services elsewhere. While the store's name implies a focus on "natural pet," the grooming aspect appears to be a significant point of concern based on the provided feedback.

The reviews do not offer insights into the environment of the store beyond the grooming area. There is no mention of the cleanliness, organization, or overall atmosphere of the retail space. Similarly, there is no feedback on the staff's helpfulness or knowledge regarding the natural pet products they may sell. The focus of the provided information is solely on negative grooming experiences.

Therefore, it is impossible to provide a comprehensive overview of the services and features of this Kriser's Natural Pet location based solely on the available reviews. We can only definitively state that grooming services have been a source of significant dissatisfaction for at least two recent customers, citing issues with the assessment of matting, communication, the grooming process itself, and the final results.

Unsurprisingly, given the negative nature of the recent feedback, there is no mention of any promotional information. It is unclear whether Kriser's Natural Pet on N Milwaukee Ave currently offers any discounts or special offers on their products or services. Potential customers would need to contact the store directly to inquire about any such promotions.

In conclusion, while Kriser's Natural Pet at 1658 N Milwaukee Ave in Chicago, IL, may offer natural pet products, recent customer reviews strongly advise against using their grooming services. The detailed accounts describe issues with misdiagnosis of matting, poor communication, delays in service, and drastic, seemingly unnecessary shaving of pets. Potential customers looking for a "Pet Store Near Me" that offers grooming should carefully consider this feedback and perhaps seek alternative options with more consistently positive reviews for grooming services. For those solely interested in natural pet products, further investigation into their product selection and customer service in that area would be necessary, as the provided information focuses exclusively on negative grooming experiences.

Wouldn’t recommend this place for grooming services. We took our goldendoodle there and we were told that because she had some matting in her tail and around her ears they wouldn’t be able to do a regular grooming and that they’d have to shave her down completely. Before and after pictures attached. I just don’t know how anyone thought this was a good idea. Our dog looks unrecognizable

Just moved to Chicago recently. Did my research looking for a groomer for our Pomeranian- landed on this one. Saw the recent review + photo about her pleasant experience and CUTE Pom. Haley just so happened to be the groomer we were scheduled with anyways. Haley did a stellar job, was timely, and communicative. Our dog looks, feels, and smells amazing. She said he behaved just fine- that’s not the feedback we typically receive from our previous groomers 😬 this leads me to believe that Haley’s got the magic touch and calming energy, not that my dog is somehow an angel haha Overall: I’m a happy dog mom and will be a regular from this point forward. Reception staff was also lovely (forgetting her name) and just good vibes in there. Thanks for all you do! Y’all deserve a raise Update: 2 years later and we still live Kriser’s. Haley no longer works there but Bruno is THE BEST.

Justino took extra care of our little chihuahua. He greets us before and talks to us after to put us at ease that our dog is in good hands! He was extra soft, smelled so clean and had his nails back to a good length! Everyone at Krisers Bucktown is always so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend it for both products and grooming!

Kriser's is excellent and has been our go-to groomer for the past two years. Our dog is a 90 pound German shepherd who we'd run into issues with at another groomer who wasn't as experienced with big dogs. Our dog is always so excited to see the staff who meet his excited, happy energy with their own, and he always ends up looking great and not at all stressed out. We have friends who bring their own big dogs there and have the same positive experience. They're definitely slightly more expensive and you need to book farther in advance, but you really get what you pay for.
