They are on top of service and informative. Fish are an expensive hobby, of course. Prices seem average or below the average, mostly. They took our measurements for a lid for our tank but ordered the wrong size anyway. We bought a pleco for our 55 gal tank that already houses, happily, one small gold fish, 5 daneos, snails, plants and one minnow...all thriving. Pleco died the first night. Maybe just small and stressed. Hope for a fair return on our lid and replacement for our fish. They asked for the fish and samples of our water. 馃

For local users in Three Rivers, Michigan, searching under the category "Pet Store Near Me," Great Lakes Aquarium House, situated at 614 S Main St, emerges as a specialized pet store primarily focused on the aquarium hobby. The available customer reviews, while offering slightly contrasting experiences, collectively paint a picture of a store with knowledgeable staff, a good selection of aquatic life, and a commitment to customer service, albeit with some potential for occasional errors in specific orders. One reviewer begins by praising the store's "top of service and informative" nature, highlighting the expertise of the staff. They acknowledge that "Fish are an expensive hobby, of course," but find the prices at Great Lakes Aquarium House to be "average or below the average, mostly," which is a significant draw for budget-conscious aquarium enthusiasts. This suggests that the store strives to offer competitive pricing on their aquatic livestock and supplies. However, this reviewer also shares a mixed experience regarding a custom order and a recent purchase. They mention that the store "took our measurements for a lid for our tank but ordered the wrong size anyway," indicating a potential issue with order accuracy. Additionally, they purchased a pleco for their established 55-gallon tank, which already housed a thriving community of a goldfish, five danios, snails, plants, and a minnow, but unfortunately, the "Pleco died the first night." The reviewer speculates that the pleco might have been "just small and stressed" due to the transition. Despite these issues, they express hope for "a fair return on our lid and replacement for our fish," noting that "They asked for the fish and samples of our water," which demonstrates a willingness on the part of the store to investigate the situation and potentially rectify the problems. The second reviewer offers a more unequivocally positive experience, stating, "I love this place!" Their initial visit was specifically for "some frogs and snails," and they were clearly impressed by what they found: "and they had me there!" This suggests a good selection of not just fish but also other aquatic and semi-aquatic life. They further comment that "There is plenty of great looking fish here," reinforcing the idea of a healthy and diverse stock of aquatic species. This reviewer also echoes the sentiment about the staff's expertise, noting, "They know their stuff and do a good job with the tanks!" This implies that the store maintains its aquatic displays well, which is crucial for the health and well-being of the livestock and provides customers with a good indication of the quality of care they can expect for their own purchases. A significant feature mentioned by this reviewer is the store's willingness to accommodate special requests: "They said they can even special order if I ever need 馃檪." This service can be invaluable for hobbyists looking for specific or rare species or equipment that might not be regularly stocked. The reviewer concludes with a strong recommendation: "I will most definitely be back here. Very small hole in the wall, but it's definitely worth the stop in!"
