Welcome to Zimber C Paul DVM
The name "Zimber C Paul DVM" is intrinsically linked to a significant legacy in veterinary care in Rochester, NY, specifically at the address 85 University Ave. While this address is currently associated with Midtown Veterinary Hospital, it was the long-standing practice location of Dr. Paul Zimber before his retirement in March 2024. Therefore, an introduction to "Zimber C Paul DVM" must largely reflect his personal approach to veterinary medicine and the reputation he built over decades of service, rather than describing a currently operating, independent "Pet Hospital" under that exact name. Dr. Zimber was a cornerstone of the Rochester veterinary community, known for his deep commitment to animal welfare and his compassionate care, which greatly influenced the perception of veterinary services at this location.
The environment under Dr. Zimber's tenure, based on overwhelmingly positive customer reviews, was characterized by a genuine sense of care and a personal touch. While a "Pet Hospital" typically refers to a clinical setting, for Dr. Zimber, the environment was defined more by his empathetic interaction with pets and their owners. Reviews consistently highlight a feeling of being treated with compassion and understanding, not just as clients but as individuals navigating the health of their beloved companions. This suggests an environment where the focus was on the animal's comfort and well-being, fostered by Dr. Zimber's direct engagement and the dedication of his team. It implies a setting that, while professional and equipped for medical needs, prioritized a gentle approach, patience, and clear communication. The sentiment of "WE MISS YOU!" and "NO ONE IN ROCHESTER, CAN EVER TAKE YOUR PLACE!" speaks volumes about the warmth and trust he cultivated, creating a welcoming and reassuring atmosphere for pets and their families.
The services offered during Dr. Zimber's practice would have encompassed the full range of general veterinary care typically provided by a comprehensive "Pet Hospital." This would have included:
-
Wellness and Preventive Care: Routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control, and nutritional advice, all aimed at maintaining long-term pet health.
-
Diagnostic Services: Utilizing in-house laboratory tests, radiography (X-rays), and likely external specialist referrals for more advanced imaging or analyses, to accurately diagnose a wide array of conditions.
-
Internal Medicine: Diagnosis and management of various internal diseases affecting organs, endocrine systems, and gastrointestinal health.
-
Surgical Procedures: Common soft-tissue surgeries such as spaying, neutering, and other necessary operations, performed with careful attention to patient safety and recovery.
-
Dental Care: Professional dental cleanings and treatments for oral health issues, crucial for overall systemic health.
-
Emergency and Urgent Care: Providing immediate attention for non-life-threatening emergencies during clinic hours, and likely offering guidance for after-hours critical cases.
-
Pain Management: Strategies to alleviate discomfort from acute injuries or chronic conditions.
-
Client Education: Taking the time to explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and home care instructions, empowering pet owners to be active participants in their pet's health journey.
-
Compassionate End-of-Life Care: Providing support and humane options for pets nearing the end of their lives, focusing on comfort and dignity, a service deeply appreciated by clients.
A defining feature of Dr. Paul Zimber's practice, consistently highlighted in reviews, was his exceptional compassion and dedication. Phrases like "treated me And my pup compassionately," "went above and beyond," and "Dr Zimber was about the comfort and health of the animal. Not the money" underscore his patient-first philosophy. This stands in contrast to common criticisms sometimes leveled at modern veterinary practices, which are perceived as being overly focused on financial gain. Dr. Zimber's willingness to use "his personal dressing supplies to heal a very difficult wound" exemplifies his commitment to going the extra mile for his patients, prioritizing healing and comfort above all else. His encouragement to "not give up and Love Harder when got things scary" further illustrates his empathetic and supportive approach, offering not just medical treatment but emotional support to pet owners during challenging times. His deep knowledge and experience, honed over a career that included being the Seneca Park Zoo veterinarian and opening Midtown Veterinary Hospital in 1978, undoubtedly contributed to his reputation as a highly skilled practitioner. The reviews lament his retirement, indicating that his unique blend of medical expertise and profound empathy is a rare and cherished quality in the veterinary field.
Regarding promotional information, in the traditional sense, "Zimber C Paul DVM" as a standalone entity no longer actively engages in promotional activities due to Dr. Zimber's retirement. However, the lasting impression and fervent loyalty expressed by his former clients serve as the most powerful form of promotion imaginable. Word-of-mouth referrals, based on extraordinary positive experiences, were undoubtedly a key driver for his practice. The testimonials themselves act as a testament to the quality of care provided. For instance, the review stating, "He is the only Vet who treated me And my pup compassionately. Not take advantage Financially," acts as a powerful endorsement, highlighting values that many pet owners prioritize when seeking veterinary care. This type of authentic, unsolicited praise is far more impactful than any paid advertisement.
In the context of the "Pet Hospital" category at 85 University Ave, Dr. Zimber's legacy suggests a historical commitment to affordable, high-quality, and deeply empathetic care. While the current "Midtown Veterinary Hospital" at the same address operates under new ownership and has its own team and service offerings, the profound appreciation expressed for Dr. Zimber indicates a standard of care that many clients hope will be continued or emulated. The comments about the "new ownership does not have the Same standards unfortunately" suggest that clients are looking for the same level of personal attention and genuine concern for the animal's well-being that Dr. Zimber exemplified. Therefore, any contemporary "Pet Hospital" operating from this location would inherently inherit the high expectations set by Dr. Zimber's benevolent practice. While direct promotions under Dr. Zimber's name are no longer relevant, the enduring sentiment from his past clients serves as a historical promotional beacon, emphasizing the enduring value of a compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring veterinarian.

Used his personal dressing supplies to heal a very difficult wound. And encouraged me to not give up and Love Harder when got things scary. My furr baby has passed recently and I can always say. Dr Zimber was about the comfort and health of the animal. Not the money. Love him, the new ownership does not have the Same standards unfortunately.
