Have been taking our 16 yr old dog Big Red in to see them for several months. He has some nerve / neurological issues with his hindquarters, specifically his right ear leg. He does hydrotherapy treadmill treatment twice a week, laser and muscle tension type of massage once a week. They're very patient with him. Christy knows her stuff, and loves each of the critters she works with. All of the vet techs who have been helping her have been patient and understanding. They deal with all sorts of different issues with pets, recuperation, rehabilitation, and long-term issues like our Big Red. Besides the excellent care, their prices are more than reasonable. I highly recommend Zen Den!

Welcome to Zen Den Animal Wellness & Rehabilitation
Welcome to Zen Den Animal Wellness & Rehabilitation, a specialized Pet Hospital located at 1055 Columbia Way Suite 110 in Lancaster, California. Unlike traditional veterinary clinics that primarily focus on diagnosis and immediate medical or surgical interventions, Zen Den offers a unique approach centered on wellness, recuperation, rehabilitation, and managing long-term conditions in pets. Our dedicated team, led by Christy and supported by compassionate vet techs like Nayelly, provides a range of therapies to improve the quality of life and mobility of your beloved animal companions.
The environment at Zen Den is specifically designed to facilitate healing and comfort for pets undergoing various treatments. While the reviews don't offer extensive descriptions of the physical space, the focus on therapies like hydrotherapy treadmill, laser treatment, and acupressure-type massage suggests a facility equipped with specialized equipment and dedicated areas for these modalities. The emphasis on patient care and the patience shown towards animals, even those with mobility issues like a 16-year-old dog with neurological problems, indicates a calm and supportive atmosphere. The name "Zen Den" itself evokes a sense of tranquility and well-being, suggesting an environment conducive to relaxation and recovery for animals.
Zen Den Animal Wellness & Rehabilitation offers a specialized suite of services tailored to address a variety of pet health challenges. A key feature is hydrotherapy using a treadmill, which is particularly beneficial for pets with neurological issues, arthritis, or those recovering from surgery. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints while allowing for controlled exercise to rebuild strength and improve mobility. Laser therapy is another significant service, known for its ability to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain in various conditions. Additionally, Christy is noted for performing acupressure-type treatments, a holistic approach that involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the body to release tension, improve circulation, and address underlying issues.
The testimonials highlight the effectiveness of these therapies for a range of conditions, including recuperation from injuries, rehabilitation after surgery, and managing long-term issues such as nerve problems and arthritis in older pets. One remarkable success story involves a 15-year-old dog with onset Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) and paralysis in three legs. Despite a recommendation for $12,000 surgery with a 50/50 recovery chance from a specialty animal hospital, the owner opted for Zen Den's rehabilitation therapy. Within two months of twice-weekly sessions, the dog, initially unable to stand, was walking again. This outcome, described as "miracle workers" by the owner, underscores the potential of Zen Den's specialized therapies when conventional treatments may seem daunting or financially prohibitive.
A significant feature of Zen Den is the personalized and patient-centered approach of the team, particularly Christy. She is described as "knowing her stuff" and genuinely loving the animals she works with. The vet techs assisting her are also commended for their patience and understanding, crucial when dealing with pets who may be in pain or discomfort. This compassionate and skilled care extends to dealing with a wide array of pet health situations, including arthritis, displacement, nerve issues, IVDD, and various rehabilitation needs.
Beyond the excellent care and specialized treatments, Zen Den is also praised for its reasonable pricing. One reviewer explicitly stated, "Besides the excellent care, their prices are more than reasonable." Another detailed the cost of sessions for their dog's recovery from IVDD, noting that sessions ranged from $80 down to $60 depending on the package purchased. This affordability, especially when compared to the high cost of surgery recommended elsewhere, makes Zen Den an accessible option for pet owners seeking effective rehabilitation and wellness therapies.
Currently, the provided reviews do not mention specific promotional offers or package deals beyond the tiered pricing for therapy sessions (e.g., buying more sessions reduces the per-session cost). Local users are encouraged to contact Zen Den Animal Wellness & Rehabilitation directly at (661) 948-1931 or +1 661-948-1931 to inquire about any current promotions, package options, or long-term wellness plans that may be available. May 04, 2022 · Rebeka CarrChristy and Nayelly are amazing! My 15 year old dog Terra had onset IVDD and was paralyzed in 3 legs (we think it could have been a nerve issue or tweaked it funny). I took her to the VCA Specialty animal hospital in Glendale that recommended a $12k surgery and that she had a 50/50 recovery chance from being paralyzed. I decided not to put her through surgery because of her age and the risk (or the finances). I was so scared for Terra and her situation. After some Google searching I came across Zen Den and so glad I did. They have such care and attention. Sessions are around $80 down to $60 per depending on the package amount you buy. I took Terra here first in January 2023 unable to stand on her own and within 2 months with twice weekly sessions she was walking again when the speciality doctors said she may never be able to. They are miracle workers! They treat dogs and cats with all situations- arthritis, displacement, nerve issues, IVDD, rehabilitation therapy, and many other needs. They have water treadmills, laser treatment for healing, and Christy performs acupressure type treatments to help identify the issues and release tension areas. Highly highly recommend. Because of them without a doubt my sweet little girl can walk again like a puppy!
Jun 12, 2024 · Nicole HoustonPhysical therapy has been so great for my 6 year old lab mix. Her hip dysplasia is almost unnoticeable. No more limping, can hardly tell she ever had problems getting up from a lying position. Christy has been wonderful with my girl. Would definitely recommend this place to others.
Jun 18, 2018 · Cynthia SolanoAs a dog scientist, the majority of my work deals with the exploration and development of practices related to improving canine learning theory. As a certified elite canine conditioning specialist and advisor, I am always looking for ways to improve the overall fitness and conditioning of our working dogs. Christy and her staff are revolutionizing canine rehabilitation, recovery and conditioning in a way that I haven't seen anywhere else in SoCal. Compassionate and understanding, the human touch they've added goes a long way towards helping nervous and worried pet owners navigate this space. Cheers ladies. Great work!
Jun 16, 2020 · John Anthony S.Christy and Lyndsey are the BEST!! I've been bringing my pug there for a couple of months now and she is walking so much better than before. While she may still require surgery, we can see that she is so much happier and feeling much better than before we started bringing her on her visits - and she really LOVES going to see the girls!! I highly recommend Zen Den for any therapy you may need for your pups!!
