Wixom Family Pet Practice

I had a great experience at Family Pet Practice in Wixom with my 1-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer. He needed hernia repair surgery, and I was given a fair and affordable estimate—much lower than what another vet had quoted me. To my surprise, the final cost ended up being even lower than the original estimate. The surgery went smoothly, and my dog recovered quickly. The staff at the front desk were kind and professional, making the entire process stress-free. The vet who performed the surgery was compassionate and truly cared about my pet’s well-being. I highly recommend Family Pet Practice and will definitely be bringing my dog here for any future needs!

The workers that saw our cats appeared to not know how to work with cats at all. Across the few trips we had here, they consistently displayed no knowledge of how to interpret cat behavior, especially cat anxiety (very common at a vet!). The most recent visit we had both our cats come in for a check up and were told that one had gingivitis after they barely looked at her teeth (apparently not knowing how to do that) and their explanation on what the procedure she would need, how they knew she had gingivitis, and how serious is was were poorly and rudely explained. We took her elsewhere for a second opinion and was able to look at her teeth with the vet to see there was no gingivitis and that she did not need an immediate dental procedure. We will not be going back and recommend others do not either.

I’ve went to this location for years. Most recently they have become quite a scam. They tried to charge me $450 for two vaccinations and lab work. I held off and went to another local vet that charged me $250 for the exact same thing. Quite disappointed since again we had been going to Wixom location for many years. Staff seems friendly enough, but not worth the increase in cost. I would definitely recommend checking other locations for cost discrepancies.

Beware!!!!This place gave the wrong diagnosis for my cat! Said my cat was having an issue with his kidney and wanted to do an ultrasound after already charging me $600. The ultrasound would’ve been another $600. Went to another vet and they said the issue was constipation and did an x-ray for way less money. Really regret going to this place. Huge scam!

I’ve had several of my fur babies going here for many years, throughout many of their lifetimes. The vet techs and veterinarians are caring and treat my pets like their own. Dr Foster is a wonderful vet and my 18 yo kitty is very comfortable with her!
